Barry has consistently been my first port of call for chartering. Ive thrown some easy tasks and some not so easy ones at him and hes always delivered with great boats, at great prices. We would like to thank everyone involved in making our Philippines Bali 4.0 Charter in May 2025 a wonderful experience enjoyed by all, we had a wonderful time.
There was great communication, coordination and preparation ahead of time handled by Leslie with local coordination by Ambre. We appreciated the flexibility here as we changed pick up and drop off locations/schedules, all of which was handled smoothly. Expectations were clearly made on food and facilities on board. We greatly appreciated all the effort by both in preparing us for the trip.
The crew were exceptional, an unknown until we were on the boat, but we felt right at home and comfortable with all crew members very quickly. They all knew each other and had worked with each other before and this was clear, there was a great team spirit amongst the crew which made us all relax and feel safe in their hands.
The Steward / Tour Guide Emerson Castillo Jr welcomed us on board and helped us settle in the cabins. Throughout the trip Emerson was instrumental on communicating and executing the trip planned. Adjustments were made as needed. One key point I would like to highlight is Emerson’s knowledge of the places we would be visiting and the optimum time to be there. Giving us options to cruise in the evening or early morning and fitting in with our preference. For example, we chose to cruise early to Kayangan Lake and we were moving at 6am arriving at 8.30am. When we arrived the line to go to the lake was reasonable. 1 hr later after swimming around the lake we were surprised to find a huge line, at 9.30am. We were so relieved that the crew took good care of us on this. Similarly, at other points of interest we found we were the only people kayaking around the Twin Lagoon at time, most likely because we were there early and at the caves we visited there were no crowds. This really makes the vacation very enjoyable and stress free. The snorkeling spots recommended by the crew and on the itinerary were incredible, we have snorkeled in many places around the world: in the South Pacific, around The Caribbean and Asia but never seen coral like we witnessed at Daracotan at the start of the cruise and Smith Beach / Coral Garden at the end of the cruise.
Captain Ivan Bering was experienced and made us all comfortable. He always made the sailing as comfortable as possible even in large swells. He kept us informed on where we were heading and approaches we would be taking, we always felt we were in safe hands and the boat would be moved to calmer water when needed for overnight stays. Importantly activities would be changed according to the weather. E.g. Beach fire abandoned as a storm came in and people kept on board.
The big surprise was the quality of the cooking. We kept expectations low this being on a 40ft boat. Ronel Lustre the Chef was simply incredible, along with support from other crew members when needed. We had many memorable dishes on this trip, The Stuffed Squid being one to and the final days Kamayan Feast being another. Meal times were always discussed, coordinated and accommodated based on latest itinerary plans. The crew always fitted in with our requests.
Last but not least Deckhand/Motorman Felisito Sabong took good care of us on ferrying us as needed from the boat to shore. He was also able to support the Steward when needed.
All crew members were very friendly and we felt right at home, we got to learn about their families and backgrounds. We felt very much a part of their team which is so important in such close quarters. We felt very lucky to have such a crew and want to make sure they are recognized, they made this holiday a success thanks to their skills and dedication to their jobs and going above and beyond in connecting with us and being so friendly and supportive.

Barry exceeded expectations when he negotiated a credit for me with the charter company after I had issues with the boat in my recent charter. He took the initiative without me even asking.

We reserved a three night catamaran cruise in the Society Islands. While I could not be happier with the Captain and his seemingly un-ending commitment to customer service, it did not mitigate the fact that he was unable to overcome the mechanical issues that not only ruined our planned itinerary, but often made the cruise truly uncomfortable. In the end, other than a couple snorkeling stops and a brief tour of a black pearl farm, we had time for no other “excursions”.
The Captain was on the phone with service technicians or was physically trying to repair the water maker, the air-conditioner 40% of the trip. One time we diverted to a marina and waited while technicians tried making repairs. Repairs that later failed as well.
I truly feel that the catamaran experience could be well worth the cost in this South Pacific paradise IF we hadn’t had so many problems.
