Update 8/13/2025: Hi Gary and thanks so much for speaking with Area Manager Lucas about your customer service experience. For clarification on the VIN number, the first character of the VIN does indicate the country of manufacture but does not tell us where the vehicle was manufactured for. Ford, GM, and Stellantis all produce vehicles for the US market in Canada but to US specifications. If a vehicle is built for the Canadian market and registered there, this shows up on the Experian AutoCheck and CARFAX, both of which have a cost implication to run. Unfortunately it is cost-prohibitive to run these checks for the hundreds of thousands of vehicles we value online every year. Gray imports are relatively rare in the USA and vehicles used in Canada often have different specifications and have been exposed to harsher weather conditions, which is why buyers often prefer not to buy these gray import vehicles.

I see that our team in Roswell reached out to our corporate pricing team for assistance with valuing the Honda. The pre-approved valuation was based on an online valuation you completed on 8/6/2025 and I see you disclosed the car had no physical or mechanical issues or history disclosures.

Like any buyer, we always check over a vehicle before confirming the offer and there were some key issues. Firstly, this was a gray market previously Canadian car which does make it more difficult to sell in the USA. There were also serious problems with the paintwork, particularly on the roof. Overall, the CR-V was not in great shape cosmetically inside or out hence we were not in the same ballpark as the online estimate for the vehicle in good condition without previous Canadian history.

Although our pricing team is here to provide support to the branches, we are sorry that the referral came off as disingenuous and that it caused frustration which ultimately earned a negative review for the branch. Our team is keen to understand how we could have done better in the circumstances and what can be done to restore your faith in us.

I have opened a complaint for you and the local Area Manager responsible for the team in Roswell will be investigating personally. Please give us a few hours to review every aspect of the appraisal and they will reach out to you later today.
