Absolute joke of a company

Absolute joke of a company. They gave me a decent figure online and so took my car down expecting to be somewhere in the ball park with a final figure.
The chap, who is a half decent fellow I should add (and doesn’t make the rules), told me my 8 year old car was in good order, clean and relatively low mileage (just over 50000). He then entered all the details on his tablet. He then proceeded to tell me that ‘the computer system’ had assumed my car was in nano grey which apparently is more expensive however, mine was another shade of grey. ‘The computer system’ therefore knocked £2,500 off the original figure. The guy said don’t worry, let’s see if I can get you another couple of hundred quid.. I said no thank you, the garage where I’m buying my new car is offering a more realistic figure for it so I collected my paperwork and left immediately… absolute con.
I’ve since had a ton of emails and messages off the company since saying they are sorry I didn’t complete the deal.. blah blah blah, don’t leave it too long or the revised figure won’t be available for long…
My one star rating is for the manager alone as he was a nice chap.. nothing for the company.
Never again.

Offered less than a quarter of the online value. I walk away, then two weeks later they email me with a quote of £500! I think what annoys me the most about this whole debacle of selling my car to webuyanycar.com is the fact their employee couldn't be bothered to update the details of what occurred on the day of the valuation on the computer, else they wouldn't have tried to contact me again, to add insult to injury and rub salt into the wound, making a bad situation worse.

I suggested they send their employee for further training or re-assignment to a desk job, where he can't do any harm. I am submitting a review of this case to Trustpilot, for the well-being of the public at large.

No apology has been received for the manner in which they have handled the case.

Ripoff or just plain incompetent?

I requested a valuation of my 2021 Polestar 2 Long Range Duel Motor with Pilot and Plus packages. It had been ceramic coated two years earlier and had 4 nearly new Goodyear Efficient Grip Performance tyres. A very good condition car with a few small scratches and some kerb rash on the alloy wheels. I was given a 4 day price promise of £16,855.

I showed up, they looked over the car, agreed it was in a clean condition and then offered me £15,939 after deducting the £99 admin fee. No checklist of faults matched to specific reductions they were making. Just an £800 reduction because… I was annoyed and left the scene. As I left the employee said you can still bring it back within 4 days and we’ll honour the price. I got home, did some calculations and thought I can still buy the car I wanted so came back the very next morning at 9 am to agree to the crap offer they had made for my car. On the new appointment the valuation was revised to £16,040 so I thought that’s right because it doesn’t show the admin fee deduction.

I show up just before 9 and find three new people. The young lady starts to inspect my vehicle. I tried to tell her it had already been inspected the previous evening (15 hours earlier) but she treated me like I was abusing her. Her boss came out and I asked him if I was being unreasonable. He offered to do the inspection himself. I accepted. Everything was done politely and he took me inside to validate the quote. His offer was about £14,800. I couldn’t believe it. He calmly explained the prices change every day and the 4 day price promise only applied to my first valuation. So I calmly thanked him and said I would be making a complaint. I also said I’ll let him know what I get from selling it elsewhere. Fortunately, I had already submitted my details on Carwow. They put it up for auction 2 days later and I got an offer of £16,790. I agreed, they sent an inspector/driver who spent an hour checking the car over in detail. He then took it for a test drive and confirmed the price. No admin fee. Money paid into my bank account and then he took the car away. So this is for Hassan, regional manager. Please consider this to be my complaint. Webuyanycar didn’t buy my car because they were either trying to rip me off or too incompetent to seal a good deal. I STRONGLY RECOMMEND CARWOW. They know how to treat their customers with respect and make a good deal. I will never do business with Webuyanycar again.

Manjit Dale Gary Lindsay and Tom Mitchell-con men

Manjit Dale, Gary Lindsay and Tom Mitchell have one goal when it comes to buying and selling cars; rip off the seller by paying less than 40% of what the car's actually worth and rip of the buyer by selling the car at 110%/120% of the market value.
These men are greed personified which tells you everything you need to know about this dodgy company. Sell privately.

Like other reviewers this was a…

Like other reviewers this was a dreadful experience. I used their sister business Cinch for a part ex quote as I wanted to buy another vehicle due to my 10-year old Volvo starting to have a few issues. The part ex quote was c. £19k although I was unable to add detail about the engine warning light. The guy at Cinch told me I wouldn't be able to part ex it with a warning light and that I should go to WeBuyAnyCar. I did so and was able to add more detail about the issues for the quote on their site. The quote was then £14k. I knew the work needed on the Volvo was about £3k so I wanted to discuss the offered price. I took my car down to my local WeBuyAnyCar branch and was met by a very grumpy guy who generally looked at me as if I was something he'd scraped off his shoe. There was no intro or any explanation of the process. He then wiped down my car and told me the scratches were far more major than I said in my initial quote, grade 4 rather than 3. We then revved the engine a bit (he told me off for doing it wrong!) and he advised that my engine was in good condition. This made me believe we'd get more than the initial £14k quote. However after some protracted positioning on his side, where he dismissed the fact it had an added tow bar and reversing camera he then inexplicably quoted me £13k for the car, positioning it as a win for me. I told him at that price I'd rather pay to repair it and run it in to the ground. He has since chased me a couple of times, but I refuse to go back to him. I appreciate their business model, but his one pitch was that the money could be in my back account that night. To me that is praying on the vulnerable! Come on mate - at least D*ck Turpin wore a mask!

Price Guarantee not honoured

I received an online valuation from WeBuyAnyCar, complete with their much-advertised “4-day Price Guarantee”. I had already amended all of the default assumptions to accurately reflect my car’s condition, number of keys, service history, wear and tear etc, so I was reasonably happy with the quote of around £3,600 and booked an appointment.

At the branch, I was told that because a service reminder appears briefly on ignition, they would need to class this as a “dashboard warning light” (despite it not actually being a fault warning light), which would reduce my valuation by around £400. All other aspects of the appraisal matched exactly what I had declared online, including one key and Grade 3 wear and tear.

And then things got... interesting.

What followed felt less like selling a car and more like an audition for Deal or No Deal. I was told that “someone at the other end of the iPad” had offered £2,000, which the buyer had apparently “rejected immediately”, before heroically pushing them up a little... then a little more... until the “final offer” of £2,482.

Now, for anyone with access to a calculator, £3,600 minus £400 does not equal £2,482.

When I questioned this, I was repeatedly told there was “nothing she could do”.

The moment I stepped outside the branch, I went straight back onto their website and repeated the valuation using the buyer’s exact appraisal, this time including the service light. The result? £2,799 online.

So naturally I walked straight back into the branch, showed the buyer the quote on my phone, went through every single selection out loud, and she verbally agreed that everything matched her appraisal. She also agreed it was strange... but apparently there was still “nothing she could do”. No manager available. No head office contact. No way to honour the “guaranteed” quote.

I have since had to deal with head office via what appears to be their only contact method: email.

Their first response took 3 days and was factually incorrect, claiming I hadn’t declared the warning light online, despite the screenshots I had attached proving that I had. They also claimed the branch had graded my car as Grade 4, despite the buyer verbally stating Grade 3 multiple times during the appointment, in front of both myself and my husband.

I responded immediately with evidence.

Three days later... still no response. Still no explanation. Still no accountability. And still no sign of this much-advertised “Price Guarantee” being worth the pixels it’s written in.

If your business model relies on quoting one price online, offering something entirely different in branch, and then running down the clock on a 4-day guarantee via slow email responses, perhaps it’s time to stop calling it a guarantee.

Avoid at all costs!

DISHONEST and DECEITFUL - AVOID AT ALL COSTS

DISHONEST, DECEITFUL, AND POTENTIALLY FRAUDULENT—AVOID AT ALL COSTS

I am writing this to warn every motorist in Cumbria: Do not trust We Buy Any Car in Whitehaven. My recent experience was nothing short of a calculated attempt to devalue my vehicle through blatant lies and technical misinformation.

During my appointment, the salesman videoed my engine to be reviewed by a "master mechanic." I was then told that my car was missing its Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF). I was informed this "discovery" would strip at least £2,000 off my valuation. When I questioned how the car had passed four years of MOTs, the salesman had the audacity to claim that DPFs aren't checked during an MOT. This is a categorical lie. Emissions are checked.

To verify this "report," I took my car to the original dealership. Not only did they physically confirm the DPF is present and untouched, but they also ran an emissions test proving the vehicle is in perfect working order.

The most galling part? Upon complaining, the Branch Manager admitted that even though their "mechanic" was objectively wrong, they refuse to amend the record because it’s already "on the system." Apparently there “is nothing he can do”!

This business model appears to rely on duping honest people out of thousands of pounds based on fabricated mechanical faults. Had I not challenged them, I would be £2,000 out of pocket today. They are misleading, professionally incompetent, and utterly shameless.

I will never use this company again, and I urge you to take your business elsewhere unless you want to be lied to for profit.

Scammed, Ripped off and Poorly served

Not a pleasant or "honest" experience.
1. Car original valued at £21,800 prior to appointment.
2. On bank holiday Saturday tried to book for Wednesday but wasnt allowed as it was too early - more than three days - BUT only two working days.
3. Just before I booked the appointment the car dropped to £20,900.
4. Arrived at the WBAC station ten minutes early after upteen calls and messages asking me to confirm I would be there but the rep was still dealing with the first customer from 10:00 and eventually got to me at 10:45 (not 10:20).
5 After a quick look he said okay - here's the offer - £19,200 which was £1700 less than the day before because of MOT/Service due and wheel rims. The MOT/service had not been mentioned as a devaluer and the wheel rims are 5 years old ie same age of the car of of course not perfect.
6 The rep had no idea what the original valuation had been
7. As I was now car less I needed a taxi but the rep hadnt got a local taxi firm number. Seriously?
So at the end felt scammed, ripped off and frankly poorly served. So sorry not again and am passing the message on through Trustpilot.
GO ELSEWHERE PEOPLE.

‘Never again’ DISAPPOINTING!!

I had a very disappointing experience with We Buy Any Car Rochdale, and it really came down to the way one member of staff chose to conduct himself.

I fully understand that your pricing model is based on assessing the vehicle in person and adjusting the online valuation depending on condition, that’s fair enough, and it’s clearly stated. However, there’s a difference between professionally explaining adjustments and speaking to customers in a dismissive, argumentative manner assuming you are more superior and better than others.

During my appointment, the staff member I dealt with became unnecessarily confrontational. He repeatedly talked over me, insisted on emphasising that my car was “far from immaculate,” and seemed more interested in justifying huge deductions, than actually having a constructive conversation. There was no attempt at balanced dialogue just a one-sided lecture. If there was, I have had more respect and walked out shaking his hand instead and thanked him, far from it.

What made things worse was the unprofessional commentary about a previous colleague at another branch when I advised that customer service was much there as opposed to here and valuation, I was told that someone at another branch had been “sacked for many reasons,” which is frankly not something customers should ever hear. Airing internal issues or “dirty laundry” like that reflects poorly on the company and undermines trust, not nice to then tarnish the company name you work for.

Ironically, I had visited another branch in Rochdale previously, and the difference in approach was night and day,
much more accommodating, respectful, and customer-focused. So it’s clearly not a company-wide issue, but rather inconsistent standards in staff conduct.

There also seems to be an expectation that cars should be “box fresh,” while offers come in at what can only be described as bargain-basement levels. For context, the same car, yes, the one described as “far from immaculate” was advertised the very next day, sold as seen within 2 days with the cosmetic imperfections and all, for nearly £2,000 more. No drama, no lectures, no inflated sense of authority, just a straightforward sale.

A bit of advice: go back to basics. Customer-centric service isn’t complicated, listen, communicate respectfully, and don’t talk down to people. There’s no need for the attitude or the sarcasm that customers seem to receive.

And to the staff member in question: confidence is one thing making it out that you know better than others, but it doesn’t need to tip into arrogance. A more measured, professional approach would go a long way.

All the best

Dont waste your time or petrol to meet with them!!

They gave me a quote on line after I completed the comprehensive questionnaire regarding the condition etc of my car. I assumed that it was a fair quote and at least near to what they were willing to pay. So I made the effort to drive the car to my appoint with them.
Lo and behold - once there the quote suddenly came down from about £800 to £275. This was a much loved very reliable car with a new battery and although old was worth all of £800. I saw an (albeit pleasant young man ) employee who informed me that it was not his decision but all computer generated from my answers etc.
SO the computer had changed its mind since giving my quote . SCAM - just to get people there who must be desperate to sell them their cars for nothing. They reckon they get 200 cars a day at this meeting point to sell on at auction. Yeah right there are that many stupid people out there I dont think so!!
DONT BELIEVE THEIR ON LINE QUOTES.

I told him available had offered me £1000 more so he said take it then, so I did. They were a pleasure to deal with.
