LIES!! Do not listen to these sales people! This is a broker company! They will lie and cheat their way to get you to sign anything and then STOP answering your calls. NO REFUNDS, state you get a whole truck when you get 400 feet! WARNING!!!! Do not go with this company! They do not move your stuff!

This company VanGuard Moving Services, is actually a broker, not a mover. They hire outside companies to do the actual moving. I hired VanGuard was charged $1722 on the initial estimate as a down payment, then another $1500 when I was contacted to revise my inventory if necessary.
I did need to adjust my inventory as I had more to move than originally estimated, that is why I paid the $1500, for the extra truck space.
VanGuard however, did not do my move, they brokered a company names Carefree Movers to do my actual move. VanGuard NEVER SENT the adjusted inventory and extra payment information to Carefree Movers. So when the movers arrived days early and packed my inventory they also charged me for the additional space. 2 charges for the same extra space on the truck. I wouldn’t sign the Bill of Lading since the amount was incorrect and the movers left with my belongings. Over the next three days I was sent back and forth between VanGuard and Carefree Movers to try and get a refund of the overcharge. On the 3rd day Carefree Movers called and informed me that if I didn’t sign the contract they would not put my belongings, which they now possessed, onto the next truck, a larger truck, leaving for my destination. So I reluctantly signed because I need my things.
Now that both companies have been paid for the extra space, neither will refund the money. So now in order to have my belongings delivered I am demanded to pay an additional $1787.50 or they will not give me anything.

DO NOT BY ANY MEANS DEAL WITH VANGUARD MOVING SERVICES. I only saw the negative reviews of them doing the same to others AFTER my move had started.

I hope people see this before they extort anyone else for money.

By far THE WORSE experience in my life with a business. Let me start off by saying his s not a fake review. I hired Vanguard Moving services based on what know is know is a lie. They are not a moving company, they are a 3rd party broker who hires moving companies to move your stuff. The horrible experience started with a red flag the " driver" ended up being a sales person by the name of John Sears, I found out way too late of this. I gave my deposit, listed an amount of good of which sales person added but with his own wording as well as didn't add everything I told him I would be moving. I called back several times to let him know hey you didn't specified what house hold goods I told you when I called is this going to be a problem. He answered " I left room for any small changes don't worry at all". Prior to me signing contract and paying deposit he offered to " Knock off $250 from original quote" I have a voice mail. such offer never happened, in fact once i paid the deposit I had a Justin Mills from Inventory who conducted "a physical survey of the household goods to be transported". After I was going over with him with exactly what I had told
" driver" I was brining he began to tell me that was not listed and he would give me a new quote, he started getting very agitated and angry when I told him I was Informed all that was considered household goods in the original quote. He started screaming at me and basically said " well you signed the contract so if you don't want us to move your stuff your call, you will loose your $2400 deposit. At that point I had to fly to my relocation state and I had no choice but to pay the additional fee he was charging me for what ended up being in the original contract. Night mare kept going after that, I was told one day for pick up and it didn't happen, I had to change my son's flight pay a penalty and let him stay to wait for Vanguard, to my surprise I found out they were not vanguard it was a random company located in the state I was at and they were moving my stuff when I found out the real moving company that was hired to move my stuff. Super crazy and concerning at that point, but again I had no choice I was already in the new state. Just like I predicted the extra fee was not only needed but it needed up being less than originally quoted. Moving to next night mare, Vanguard said 7 to 10 days from pick up day for delivery... LIES it is now 19 BUSINESS DAYS ( pick up day was 3/6) and my stuff is no where, I have called the moving company who also have been beyond inconsiderate, rude and unprofessional only to get the run around and no clear answers. I was Informed Vanguard should have told me it was 10 to 21 business days and the driver would call me 2 days prior, fast forward to this week. I still do not have an ETA on my stuff, I had to purchase air mattress and clothing for my kids and I and other stuff that are needed. I don't know where my stuff is and I am beyond frustrated of all the treatment I have received from Vanguard, and the company they hire. DO NOT TRUST THIS COMPANY!! ( this review still missing a lot of the night mares and unprofessionalism I have endured from them, it is the fast forward version of THE worse night mare in my life.)

Worst service ever. Difficult to reach. Changed the pick up times frequently until it became almost impossible to set up a time to actually move.

We contracted Vanguard to bring medical apparel for our dad who is moving to Utah.
They asked us certified checks which we give them and then, once they got all loaded, told us that they can’t have it since crossing state lines, now we are waiting for them to deliver but it will be 5 days after dad get to his home, and will survive with emergency installation.
They have been less than reliable and can only say “Sorry” without taking any responsibility.

I asked them to deliver my good sooner because they told me might takes extra 3 weeks, asked me to pay $200 more so I did. And suddenly they give my job to different moving company "Carefree Movers Inc, Ames, IA 50010 their help desk told me someone will call me within a week to give me the date actually will deliver. However delivery guy told me exact date he will deliver my goods and told me 2-3 hrs away and asked me to pay extra $400 because my goods are small and they have to use small truck which make no sense. Gave me no final receipt which cost me $2953.75 that I thought I only spend $2300. Called Carefrree Movers and Vangurd Movers. Call them no answer and no reply for my emails. This is scam I never experience before. I think I will contact better business bureau if they don't reply my email and or they not provided me my final invoice.

THE WORST MOVING COMPANY EVER. Their customer service representatives LIE. They have sneaky over charging tactics, they did not commit to their moving date and messed up my entire life for 3 days because they are showing up a day early. DO NOT TRUST THEIR "24" EXTRA DAY LOGIC. THEY WON'T LISTEN TO WHAT MOVING DATE YOU REQUEST. OVERPRICED, RUDE, POORLY MANAGED.

Vanguard is a broker. They are horrible to work with, their sales person Samuel was very kind. He booked me for October 27th (with a backup of the 28th). He assured me it would be a worst-case scenario with a pickup window of 8 am-noon.

I called Vanguard on the week of the 24th to verify that everything was on track. At that time, they told me it would be the 27th OR the 28th, and the agent I spoke to said she would call the carrier and let them know we'd prefer the 27th. I thanked her and hung up. Two days later (the 26th), I called to verify and was told 'there were no notes from my phone call two days prior and it would be the 28 bc the carrier couldn't do the 27th'. That's not great; I asked if there was anything to do—hard no from Vanguard.

Come the 28th, we called and verified the time window and were assured the carrier would still be here between 8 am and noon at the latest. The carrier had a delay, and now it's 2 pm-5 pm.

Moving is stressful enough, and every single call with Vanguard after sales was horrible. They kept saying, 'if we needed the 27th, we should have booked it, and there are no notes stating X, Y, Z, you signed this, that, and the other.' There was zero customer service or empathy. When my fiance was on the phone trying to explain how we were now in a screwed-up situation because we still had to drive 7-8 hours today, the woman was condescending and rude. From the kitchen, I asked why she was being a bi*ch to him, and she heard me, told my fiance he'd have to call back and talk to someone else, and hung up.

Once we got in touch with the carrier, they let us know Vanguard never called them or even tried to book us for the 27th. The carrier HAD availability that day and could have moved us then. We just kept getting told by Vanguard how this was our fault, how we should have done that, or the other.

I have call logs for every call I made to them; the women at the call center lack empathy and service skills; they only want your money and do not offer any help when things go array. They say to you that you signed X.

Moving is highly stressful, especially when moving 1400 miles and buying your first home. They honestly do not care at all about their customers. Since they're just a broker, I'd recommend staying away from them at all costs. Go with someone else, even if it's slightly more expensive. When you're in the business of moving people, it is in their best interest to have people who are naturally gifted with soft skills such as communication, problem-solving, and empathy, something everyone at Vanguard lacks.

Please Please Please.. Do not use this company. If your looking for an easy professional smooth transaction for your move DONT USE VANGUARD MOVING COMPANY! Vanguard charged us and stood back, to count your money. They were reckless and nonchalant. They are money hungry and will not help you once they have your money. Here’s the process: You call Vanguard, They quote and sell you to any random moving company that isn’t vetted or reviewed by customers, ours was Bravo! Then, when an issue arises they take no responsibility and say we’re not responsible for anything, check your contract which was blank and they had to resend. We were quoted and when the movers came, the prices went up. Like jeopardy; VANGUARD SAYS: it’s not on them look at the contract. We were charged elevator fees, a fee to rent another vehicle because they used an 18 wheeler and didn’t do they’re due diligence when we submitted our delivery address for a quote. VANGUARD SAYS: not on them, go look at the fine print. So after a missed flight, broken furniture, a 21 day delay because they had no one to deliver after accepting the job and CHARGED FOR EVERY FOOT WALKED TO THE TRUCK, an extra hidden costs of $1600.00 that’s in the fine print and not disclosed during purchase. BUYERS BEWARE YOUR QUOTE WILL DOUBLE AND VANGUARD WILL NOT RECTIFY IT OR YOUR BROKEN ITEMS. So after reading this and paying them, what’s the one thing VANGUARD SAYS:????? Not on us, and look at the fine print. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else.

This company uses fake profiles to create positive reviews. They are thieves and vandals. Vanguard Moving LLC out of Boca Raton, FL is a total scam company. They are a shell company that several companies use in order to rip off consumers. They will give you a low ball, FAKE “locked in quote” but will hold your items hostage for 4 times the supposed quote. When you don’t pay or you can’t pay, they will not return your belongings. We had to call an FBI agent after filing a formal complaint with the FMCSA. They refused to unload our stuff without being given two cashiers checks for $8500 after they quoted us $3606. We had paid $3000 upon pickup thinking we would pay the remaining $606 upon delivery.
They broke all our furniture, crushed our boxes, broken the heads off our natively statues, failed to deliver several large items like our safe, flat screen TV, a chaise lounge, and they never brought our box springs. See our photos on Google reviews. They left 80% of all our stuff on the street. This company is under investigation for Federal Fraud charges. They are also a “broker” even though they present themselves as a moving company. They are NOT licensed for interstate moves. This company also uses the Good Name of Vanguard Moving from Massachusetts as a cover when people see the negative reviews (causing that company damage and bad reviews). You should also see their F Rating on the BBB website, be sure to use Boca Raton, FL to see this Vanguard’s actual BBB page. Avoid this company at all costs!!

Also, proof that they have friends and employees making fake positive reviews is that within 24 hours of my post here, new positive posts popped up. Before my Google review, they weren’t even on TrustPilot. Their shadiness is so obvious it’s offensive.
