We’re FTBs and had some issues getting a quote for the roof issues flagged in our level 3 survey which was delaying exchange. After seeing the really good reviews for Ashley on RPS, I contacted him for a survey on a Victorian stone slate roof and loft space - we needed an independent opinion to know what we were committing to as we had no idea how much it could cost. Ashley phoned me within a few hours of me filling in the form and was super helpful - he told me about his experience with stone slate roofs and organised a survey with the estate agent within a few days even though it was bank holiday. He was prompt, efficient and phoned me as soon as he’d finished to give me a brief overview and sent the report within 48 hours. The report was one of the most useful things we’ve received throughout the buying process and gave us a clear overview of the costs, urgency, timelines and what we need to ask for when contacting companies. The survey price was super reasonable (almost half what another independent contractor quoted us) and it will save us thousands as we were planning to do work in the first year that isn’t actually necessary.

It gave us the confidence we needed to commit to exchange and what we thought might delay exchange by several weeks only ended up being a few days thanks to Ashley getting the survey booked in so quickly. I also really appreciate that he is giving us advice in the weeks after sending us the report - I wouldn’t hesitate to use him again!

We needed an independent surveyor to advise us about the roofing work we were having done. We had some worries about particular aspects of the work, so we asked for that to be a special focus.

Our surveyor was extremely helpful, not just during the considerately-arranged inspection visit itself and in the detailed report he gave us, but in the fact that he followed this up by remaining available to advise us in the following days and weeks as we continued to work with our builders. In particular, his knowledge and advice gave us greater confidence and helped us to be clearer about what what was important and what we needed to do to move our situation on.

Staff on the phone in the office were also very friendly and helpful. The survey was arranged very quickly.
