The product doesn't work. I tried it multiple times for as long as 20 minutes and it literally did absolutely nothing except make my scalp burn. And I have to pay return shipping if I want to get a refund.

I bought the light brown dye. This product does not dye your hair light brown, it comes out bright yellow ginger! It did not cover any grey hairs and left dye residue all over my bath tub enamel and hands, I found the product tingled like bleach when touching my scalp. Nearly all of the issues the product claims not to do, it does. The ingredients are vaguely listed on the box and although I was lucky not to have an allergic reaction of head swelling etc, I did find my scalp felt a little sensitive afterwards and I have never had any issues with any dye for over 30 years of dyeing my hair. I requested to return the dye and be refunded as part of their no quibble money back guarantee. No one responded via their website or email despite days of trying to contact them. Eventually after almost 2 weeks of trying to get a response, I was forced to open a case through PayPal 3 weeks ago. To date the case is still ongoing as Nova hair keep asking for things at the last window for PayPal responses, mostly things that I’ve already done, 2 days before the case would close in my favour, as they had not responded yet, they suddenly asked for details of the issues to be provided. Details that I’d already explained to them via website, email and PayPal case, resetting the time frame for the case… and then today they’ve asked me for pictures of the problem. I shouldn’t be asked to send pictures 3 weeks after I requested a refund. I haven’t been walking around with bright ginger hair for 3 weeks. They’re welcome to have their product back, which is still full but won’t fulfil their money back guarantee without dragging it on for as long as possible.

Below is my original review. It would seem that the hair shampoo I received was NOT from Nova Hair but from one of the many scam companies out there that are trying to copy/replicate Nova Hair's formula. I now realise this is a 'thing' because I have since had great communication with Nova Hair and I have seen videos put out there warning people about these other companies who are dangerously trying to copy Nova Hair. So if you do fancy trying this hair shampoo/dye, then make sure you order from Nova Hair themselves and not one of the many cowboy companies out there who are not legitimate.

Nova Hair have sent me free of charge the authentic box of shampoo and I can vouch that their box is distinctly different from the one I originally received.These are just subtle differences but important differences. The legitimate box has a full list of ingredients on it which is crucial as I can now see that it contains a form of PPD which I am allergic to. On the box they also encourage you to do a patch test and wait 48 hours. There are also plastic gloves and proper instructions in the box. The first box I received has none of this. They do not encourage a patch test and they certainly don't have a list of ingredients. So, with my faith restored, knowing that I had a legitimate box in hand I proceeded to do a patch test. Unfortunately after a few hours the itching began. My skin has become swollen, red and very sore. Thankfully this is just on my arm and not all over my head/face. I am clearly allergic to one of the ingredients in the shampoo so I won't be able to use it. However, that is not the fault of Nova. They put the necessary warnings on the box along with the ingredients so as a consumer I can't ask for anything more. Many people are not allergic to PPD so I am sure this shampoo will be a life saver for them. The fact that it is so quick to use and gives a lovely colour is a major pull. I just wish I could use it as I have no doubt at all that this is a great product! I have therefore revised my original one star score to 4 stars, purely because of the good customer service I received in the end from Nova and the fact that I do think this is a good product, just not one that is suited to me with my allergies.

My original review is below but this is NOT about the authentic Nova, it is one of the many 'copycat' dye shampoos. Beware of ordering Nova from anywhere that isn't the authentic Nova Hair website. They do not sell anywhere else, including Amazon

Avoid this company like the plague! I wish I could give this zero stars.
I ordered Nova Shampoo from here because the website looks professional, the product is seemingly endorsed by the likes of Instyle, GQ and Elle and there are numerous reviews on there from 'satisfied customers'. Upon receiving the shampoo I looked at the box to check the ingredients and saw that the list is extremely scant and vague. They profess to only use natural ingredients, no allergens in it etc..As I was still worried I would have an allergic reaction I did a patch test on my arm. Within hours my arm became red and itchy and overnight it has developed welts on it where the shampoo was rubbed in. I am just relieved I did the patch test! As the company offer a 30 day money back guarantee if not happy with the product, I contacted them to explain what has happened. They denied all knowledge of selling the product to me and tried to tell me that I bought the product from another company HerSpecial, of which they have no affiliation with. I find it strange that HerSpecial are allowed to sell their product without having any business links to Nova Hair. I have since found an article on Malware Tips which
suggests the whole thing is a scam. I can't copy the link here because Trust Pilot doesn't allow links but I suggest you look it up. I don't believe I will get my money back and I don't believe a word that is said on their website. The reviews are probably taken from other products/website and none of these big publications like Elle or GQ have ever endorsed this product. It's all made up. It is shocking that these scam companies can get away with it and haven't been closed down yet! I suspect the videos of 'satisfied customers' have been taken from other websites where the customer in the video is putting an entirely different product on their hair!

Avoid at all costs, if only because there are clearly ingredients within this shampoo that can cause severe allergic reactions. I appreciate that a lot of products contain allergens, but they should be up front and clear about it on their website and on their packaging. Had I applied this to my hair I would have a burning scalp, welts all over my face/head and who knows if it would restrict my breathing...? I'm just relieved that it's only my arm that is in a bad way!
