Exploited at my most lowest moment
The website vastly misrepresents what being treated by Transforming Mind Solutions is really like. I was filled with hope when I read their tagline that ‘each and every patient matters and is at the heart of what we do.’ This couldn’t have been further from my experience. I was in an extremely bad place and desperate for human compassion when I reached out to the company, openly describing how much I was struggling, and how desperate I was to recover for the sake of my family. I feel my vulnerability was exploited. The initial emails that the company’s CEO, Richard, sent to me appear to have been copy and pasted from Chat GPT. It was only because I was unfamiliar with the AI tool, that I didn’t recognise this until halfway through the treatment, by which time I had become disillusioned with the company for multiple other reasons. The preliminary consultation outlined in Richard’s emails never took place and I started the treatment without understanding the protocol being used, nor having spoken to the professor who prescribed it. I was sent multiple incorrect invoices for my treatment and charged £300 for the mid-treatment review that I was explicitly told was included. Professor Alex refused to help me when I asked for support due to severe sleep difficulties after the first full day of treatment. It was only after the Zoom review that he finally wrote to my GP recommending the medication I had sent a detailed email requesting, more than a week previously. If he'd have done it when I asked, he could have spared me countless sleepless nights. I believe sleep deprivation detrimentally affected my brain's ability to respond to the TMS. By the end of the first full day of treatment I felt incredible, almost completely better. By the end of the third day, I was back to feeling as I had before I started. My attempts to raise my concerns with the company were dismissed. Richard completely ignored half of my feedback, and that which he did acknowledge, he failed to adequately address or resolve. Instead, he attempted to gaslight me, and to forbid me from contacting anyone else in the company. Despite knowing how upset I was, he continued to bombard me with emails demanding that I settle the remaining balance, and notifying me that these payments were now overdue. The way Richard treated me caused me immense distress, it still is doing. His actions made it abundantly clear that he doesn't care about his patients, only money and expanding his empire. The entire time I was having treatment, he was in Portugal setting up a franchise. Professor Alex rarely comes into the clinic either. I didn’t see him once the whole time I was there and my in-person end of treatment reveiew with him was cancelled. I believe it is not just the actual treatment itself, but the care that goes alongside it, that helps a patient to successfully recover. The impact of a personal relationship with your caregivers and the confidence that they are looking after you and have your best interest at heart, cannot be understated. This has been proven to be true for all illnesses, but even more so with mental health. I feel that in this respect, I was totally let down. It is because of this that I have not even attempted to rearrange the post-treatment review with the professor. I don’t want to give him another opportunity to disappoint me as fear it would shatter my still very fragile mental state. Thankfully, nearly 4 weeks on, things are finally starting to improve for me. Although, I still can’t stop ruminating about my experience with Transforming Mind Solutions, and the way I was treated. I want more than anything to close this chapter and move on with my life, but my brain won’t let me. I am leaving this review in the hope of helping someone else. With this end in mind, I have also submitted a report to the CQC. It it worth noting that their last inspection of the company, which took place in April of this year, was graded as 'requires improvement.' I recommend reading it before committing to treatment.
