I have had several research products conducted by Trace with fantastic results. I highly recommend them for genealogy research.

Trace was an excellent company to work with. They communicated regularly about the status of my project, and when I got the final result, I was extremely pleased with how thorough and well researched and documented everything was. I’ve used numerous other genealogy research groups before, and I am very pleased with Trace and intend to use them again.

The researcher was able to locate my great-uncle who was only a name to me in his brother’s obituary. None of my family members had any information about him either. I could not find a single document to confirm his identity. She provided me with all the possible variations of surnames and concluded that he used a middle name rather than his first name. With multiple possibilities of the same name in a number of states, she researched each one and included conclusions which eliminated all but one.

Although a bit expensive for me, I had reached an impasse on searching for my 2nd Great-grandfather's birth history and connection to Ireland. My first search through Trace verified my beginning efforts into genealogy, and gave me a few new "crumbs" to research. Unfortunately, they couldn't find an answer to my question. My second search through Trace used DNA, and I had my brother take a "Y" DNA test to help. Still no definite answer, but our DNA matches have all been sorted and that will help me to take my next steps. DNA still baffles me, but I'm learning more every day.

I have taken various courses about maps, but this gives me more context to build on, hands on experience and details to make me think outside the box. Thank you

I thought I was asking Trace to look for a needle in a haystack and the results were more and better than I ever expected; I got the answer I was hoping for. The reports were thorough and readable and a treasure trove of information. They also kept me well informed of the progress and the cost was very reasonable.

This course taught me so much! I had tried for months to use my DNA test results to identify my great-grandfather with no luck. I am so glad that I decided to sign up for the DNA Academy! The clear and organized lessons really made it easy to understand how to use my test and apply it to my research. I am happy to say that the brick wall that was my great-grandfather is a mystery no more.

I have had a terrible time with this course. I completed the course and sent them my mailing address for a certificate. I also asked questions during the course and never got answers. For the price I paid I think I should get my money back but have no way of getting it. I have recently asked another question about my certificate and my question is sitting as pending waiting to be approved. It has been like that for several weeks. My course was the fall 2022 one.

Fantastic course covering Sanborn maps and how to use them for genealogical and historical research. Everything was covered, from how to access and interpret the maps, to utilizing other resources in conjunction with the maps, in order to bring a community to life.

I absolutely LOVED this course! Very detailed and informative. I worked at my own pace and spent alot of time on sections that were important to me or that I didn't quite get the first time. I'd 100% recommend it to anyone interested in Genetic Genealogy.

I recommend this course for beginning, intermediate and advanced DNA analysts. I have been Co-Admin of a Surname DNA Project for several years and while I already knew a lot of the material, I still earned a lot.

It was nice to finally learn information on the adoption of our relative. We had tried for years to learn something without any luck. Know. That we have what Trace has given us we can start researching the families. I am excited to get to our part know. Thanks Trace,

After working through the lessons in the Trace DNA Academy, I have a good grasp of the concepts and have made significant progress analyzing my DNA results. Prior to the course, I had trouble getting started and figuring out what to do with all those matches. As I progressed through the course, I did all the exercises and feel much more competent. Spending time on the exercises using my own data was enormously helpful. It took me a year to complete the course, working at my own pace. I can now confidently carry a conversation about ethnicity, DNA, and family relationships.

Staff was very friendly and responsive to my requests for updates. I knew the process would take a lot of time given my request so I wasn't too concerned about the length of time. Overall it was a great, successful project and I am definitely considering hiring them for a second phase.

Revision- after correspondence with the company, they claim they did not receive most of my emails and that they sent out links every time there was an update. It could be the fault of my email program, although I check my spam folder regularly, but I did not receive those. So I’ll change to 3 stars, although for any future research I will go directly to a researcher rather than a third party like trace. I think there is too much chance for miscommunication and lack of response.

The research was good, the communication was really bad! I recently had my grandfather in Norway researched. When the final report came back, there was some scans of records that were missing. I have emailed four times and called once, and absolutely no response. They are really good at communicating until they get your money, and then no follow-up until the final report, and no response after the final report.

I have Blaine Bettinger's Book in my library and I have also taken other DNA courses. I found the forms/tools provided in this course to be most helpful and I am looking forward to using them to solve some brick walls.

This wonderful course was difficult, but well worth the effort. Understanding these concepts will open up a whole new avenue for extending your traditional research.

I liked the way the course was set up and that you could go back to review. The "tests" were helpful to show me weather or not I needed to study more.
I have taken other DNA courses but this one was well laid out and taught in a way that allowed me to fully understand.

I had an initial consultation with a staff member and was very clear about what I wanted to research. I provided a lot of documentation that I had previously compiled. What I got for my $199 dollars was an amaturish and shoddy proposal that was not what I had originally discussed and it was clear that the researcher did not look at the documentation I had sent. The proposal consisted of researching many of the things that I had already provided. The company refused to revise the proposal or give me a refund.
