Wish we'd never used Tookey L F & Son Ltd
From the beginning we found them dismissive, unprofessional & lacking in any empathy. When we requested if the headstone could be completed by Mum's wedding anniversary (giving 6 weeks to complete) or Mum's date of passing (9 weeks to complete) the response was 'we can't guarantee'.
On Mums date of passing, we were surprised to find the headstone just being set on her grave, but to add to our distress, the new engraving didn't match the existing inscriptions (unlike other headstones by Tookey's in the same cemetery).
Why choose a different typeface to the engravings already present? But that Tookey's then denied there was a difference, was astounding. Not only did the headstone not match the proof we signed off on, we were told we should have specified we wanted it to match! But Tookey's argued it does match – so which is it?
Their website states they pride themselves on their customer service! We were pressured into paying the balance for the headstone when they knew were consulting other organisations for their opinion. Mum's husband is in his 80's & could not take any further stress.
We would not recommend them under any circumstances.
