Psychotically aggressive sales tactics
I was considering critical illness insurance and looking for indicative quotes to get some idea of what it might cost. As part of this I filled out a form on Tom's and my browser autofilled some data - all I wanted was a quick quote online to get an idea of what I'd be looking at.
As soon as I realised I'd actually put my own number my heart sank as I suspected I was about to be absolutely bombarded with relentless calls. I immediately contacted them asking them not to call me, but of course this was completely ignored.
Since then (Friday to Monday evening) I have had 8 calls from Toms. Despite my blocking and reporting as spam each number, they continue to call on different numbers. This is despite me having emailed them to request they do not contact me and delete my data (and it is now a clear breach of their data protection obligations)
It genuinely feels like harassment at this stage. Had I ever been inclined to take out insurance with them before this has put me off for life (pun intended).

Our team call because securing insurance is something people frequently intend to do but can easily be put off and left not done, though we completely understand this was not what you wanted in this instance as you say you didn't intend to put a contact number.
This is very unusual as we will immediately remove a number from our calling lists at request. We would like to investigate this and of course remove your number from our calling lists.
As we are currently unable to find a record of this call under your Trustpilot name, we will send a Trustpilot information request to your inbox. This keeps your details private while allowing us to investigate the matter thoroughly and manually remove your number from all contact systems.

I spoke with Lewis Routley from Tom Life Insurance and, honestly, it felt less like a sales call and more like catching up with a mate. We somehow managed to cover not only life insurance but also Manchester United and a few other shared interests along the way!
Lewis was genuinely engaging, easy to talk to, and took a real interest in me as a person. At no point did I feel pressured or "sold" insurance. Instead, he took the time to explain everything clearly and helped me find the right cover for my needs.
By the end of the conversation, I felt like I'd gained a friend as well as sorted out my life insurance. A refreshing experience in an industry where that's not always the case.
Thanks, Lewis – and here's hoping Manchester United give us both something to smile about soon! 😄
