The Publishing Gennie simplified the daunting process of launching a book. They did all the care from formatting to distribution with keen attention, so I felt supported in my entire process as an author.

I started working with Alex in March 2025 to publish my book. At first, the process seemed promising—communication was clear, and everything moved along smoothly. But things took a sharp turn when Alex introduced me to someone he described as a major book retailer with 600 stores. This person claimed I could earn $60,000—but only if I paid $10,000 upfront for copies of my book.

When I asked why this amount couldn’t just be deducted from future sales, his response was: “Because I don’t know you. I’m only doing this as a favor to Alex.” The conversation quickly turned uncomfortable. He insisted everyone has to pay something, which felt like manipulation designed to pressure me into handing over money. Then he began haggling—offering a “deal” for $7,500, then dropping it to $5,000. I kept repeating that I simply didn’t have that kind of money and had already invested all I had into publishing. His response? “I know exactly how much you paid.” That comment crossed a serious line and made me feel even more exposed and taken advantage of.

Afterward, I confronted Alex about why he would set up a meeting like that, especially when such a large financial ask was involved. His only explanation was that he wanted me to see the “bigger picture,” which didn’t sit right with me. It felt like he was either in on the scheme or willfully ignoring serious red flags. I did my own research and found out that legitimate, traditional publishers don’t charge authors fees to stock books. I also discovered that the so-called retailer only owned 6 stores, not the 600 I was led to believe. The whole thing reeked of a scam that played on my passion and vulnerability.

Despite everything, I stayed focused on completing my book. I documented everything and reported the incident to Alex’s supervisor. Following that, Alex delayed the publishing process by three weeks. He started claiming I wasn’t responding to emails about edits, even though I had saved and CC’d all my communications to prove otherwise. I had to escalate the issue again to get things moving.

My book was finally published last week. There haven’t been any sales yet, and honestly, the entire experience has left me disheartened. What was supposed to be an exciting journey turned into a draining and disappointing ordeal. I now realize I was sold a dream without transparency or integrity. I will not publish another book with this company, and I will not be working with Alex again.

This company is fraudulent. Do not send them money. I'm in the process of filing a formal complaint. I brought a package and signed a contract but it's been nearly a year and it's been a fight to get anything done, and what has been done is extraordinarily poor quality. They won't even send me credentials to my website I supposedly own which is using my name and information. I can't even reach anyone anymore. They are terrible people.

Maddy Green was very cooperative and helpful but printers printed my books with black white pictures instead of color. Mady helped me and I received my right books today.

I can recommend Publishing Genie without any hesitation. Peter Berlin is my book publishing manager. He is professional and responds to any editing questions and concerns I may have. He responds very quickly and lets me know 'it's all good.' His staff is experienced and can resolve any issues. Publishing is not without author committment but the cost is fair and reasonable. I have published two books so far, with a third in the works. My books are available on Amazon.com, print and Kindle, and not only in English, but Spanish and French as well! And audio versions as well!

Peter with Publishing Genie was an amazing experience far easier than I thought it would be. The price was fairly cheap in comparison maybe there were services I missed out on that other company offers but it was just right for me! Peter and his team were able to bring the things in my head to life. From the cover art to the framework and structure of the book. I had no plans on writing another book but I’m open to it because I know Peter will make it simple. I would recommend Publishing Genie to anyone on a budget who is just looking to get their book available. Again this was my first time and I’m not sure on what services I could have received from a more expensive publisher but this was a great and the right experience for me!

They were very helpfull. They made me feel welcomed to be a part of their team. They listened to my suggestions. They are a great publishing company.Very friendly.

I think the company makes it easy for first timers to achieve what they need to at this point in their progress. My work mate, Maddy Green was so supportive and so knowledgeable always nice.

Totally Disappointed
They Have Not Yet DeIievered The Services Paid For.
This has been an emotionally trying experience with this group, despite numerous attempts to resolve the following contractual issues since November 2023.
- right book cover but incorrect content
- unable to receive my complimentary copies
-unable to receive my audio book
- unable to get the pomos and placement of books in
the sources indicated in the contract.
These are easy issues to resolve amicably but it is taking more than 6mths.

Peter Berlin has been amazing and checks on my progress and comfort ability periodically which makes me feel at ease and builds rapport. I feel like I trust the publishing company. He is very responsive to my questions and willing to help at any time.

I am so very excited to explain why Peter Berlin and the design staff at Publishing Genie are amazing and magical! Their work is incredibly creative, impeccable, and fast. Well organized with a simple process that makes it extremely easy for the author to stay on track. They are very cognizant of the level of “technical & computer skill” of the author and have the patience to walk you through it. I have worked with 2 other publishing companies and never have experienced the caring, support, and expertise as with Robin and the crew at Publishing Genie. Will definitely highly recommend them.

I have been working first with Mark Oslo and then was transferred to Daniel Clint. Thus far the service has been great. All of my questions have been answered as well as my updates that I have added over the past few months. I should have my publishing documents and corresponding website ready for sale sometime toward the end of February. All is well and I am expecting very good things as a result of their hard work on the project the entire time.

Answers to any question and giving a necessary process to understand and subject. Direct and easy to understand. Maddy Green is great...answers all questions and issues in understanding and understandable directions.
