Excellent communication throughout the order.

Very helpful advice given to measure the area for the console table to get the best fit.

Oak shelves are excellent quality. Also very impressed by efficient and speedy aftersales response following a minor problem discovered on delivery. Will definitely purchase from The crafty couple again.

Let down, by goods not being in stock when told they were in stock. taken money, but no goods.

Great service from start to finish.. slight delay(which isn't an issue) with delivery but communication throughout was fantastic.. love the rustic look of shelves and brackets and fit perfectly into our lounge areas above radiators

Unfortunately I had a very unpleasant and prolonged experience with the Crafty Couple.

Although the sellers were polite and quick to respond, the business seems badly managed. At every stage, something would go wrong, and I had to keep pushing for them to take action and explain what happened. It seemed like they didn’t want to take responsibility.

To summarise -

• I was told I’d have my shelves dispatched on a specific date if I purchased the Express Delivery. This did not happen. Told it was a staff absence issue.

• The seller had sent incorrect sized shelves.


When I first contacted the company on Etsy, I asked for 15cm depth shelves. The Crafty Couple told me they sell these sized shelves on their website, so I purchased them from there. However, the shelves they sent did not fit the brackets they came with. The shelves on the website are actually supposed to be 15.5cm (despite being advertised as 15cm), and because I had requested for 15cm on Etsy, they had changed the size on my order.
I simply wanted the item I ordered on the website, and expected them to fit the brackets they came with.
I received no apology for this.

• I was sent replacement sized brackets that were different to the ones I had ordered. They were also damaged as they had been poorly packaged.


• The seller then sent me the correct sized shelves, but they were of poor quality and had large holes on them (which the first set didn't have). They tried to pass this off as being part of the “rustic” style, but this was beyond that. So I decided to return everything.

The returns process was very frustrating. DX (their courier) would only take one of the parcels back, so I gave them the shelves and left the brackets. They stated that the Crafty Couple only booked for one parcel to be collected, despite me telling them that everything would be in three parcels (as they couldn’t all fit in one). The Crafty Couple assured me they had instructed DX to collect all of the parcels, but made no effort in finding out why they only collected one, and would later go on to say how it’s expensive for them to collect more than one parcel - which seemed a bit odd and contradictory to me.

On two separate occasions, the seller claimed to have arranged for a further collection of the remaining items, I stayed at home on both days but no one showed up.
As we weren't getting anywhere, I agreed to return these items at my local Evri drop off location. However, when I got there, the return label provided could not be printed as it had no QR code (even though the seller told me I didn’t need one). I asked if the Crafty Couple could send me a working return label by post, but they refused and cancelled the return.

About a week after the shelves were collected, I twice enquired if they had received them back yet - to which they’d say no. I became increasingly worried I’d never receive my refund. When I got the tracking number, I found out it had been delivered days ago. I was told this communication issue was down to another staff absence. Would they ever have told me if I hadn't kept chasing?

Eventually they agreed to give me a full refund, but I didn't receive it for a while. I had to wait 10 days before asking them to look into it again. Would they ever have refunded me if I hadn't kept chasing?

Fast forward over a month later, and I get a surprising email from the delivery company DX saying they’re delivering me a parcel from the Crafty Couple (despite not making any more orders)! The following day the same courier arrives with a large box, exactly like the original shelves box, and tells me he’s here to collect a parcel as well. I refused to accept the delivery, and told him there’s been a mistake.

The Crafty Couple pleaded ignorance and seemed to blame this on the delivery company. Their responses written so as to not deny they sent the parcel, but also didn't want to admit to it either.

"You haven't made a recent order with us"
"We haven't instructed DX to collect anything from you"
"We're sorry on DX's part"

There was not one single comment about the large box being delivered to my house!
It's not like a delivery company would break into their warehouse and randomly decide to deliver me a parcel.

I had to press them to look into it and explain, and when they eventually did, they claimed it was a mix up as they have another customer with my name who made the order. I find this extremely unlikely as my name is very uncommon, and why would their order be linked to my address? Why couldn't they just be honest upfront? It's all very odd.



I’ve ordered from plenty of small businesses before and never encountered such an array of issues. I hope other customers won’t face a similar experience and that the Crafty Couple will learn from this.

Excellent communication throughout the whole process- from information to delivery!

Unfortunately one of the panels of wood in the table top is so curved that there is a panel down most of the table we cannot use as all the crockery/glassware wobbles too much. We expected there to be undulations given it’s rustic wood, however this one panel is terrible. When I asked about it, I was told it was the nature of the table, but I don’t think for the price of the table that part of it should be not useable.

I really love supporting small businesses but this time has been such a negative experience. The table itself looks great and we’re completely gutted as we were so looking forward to showing it off.

I’ve only seen one other negative comment about this so we must just be one of the unlucky ones. It would have been 5 stars if this hadn’t been such an issue as the response time from the customer service has been great and it really is a beautiful piece of furniture.

Absolutely love my shelves, made a great feature wall in my kitchen, would not hesitate to recommend to friends.
