Laura Tobar was especially responsive to emails and proactive about deadlines, as well as always being cheerful and great to work with. The process was complex, but they never failed to respond diligently.

I used Sunset to wind down my first company after our acquisition, an asset sale, and honestly they took what should have been a miserable, bureaucratic slog and made it feel calm and completely manageable. They walked me through every hard part— closing out our state accounts and the Texas withdrawal, getting dissolution notices to all stock holders, the tax documentation, and more. The team is responsive and human in a way you don't expect from something this administrative; the client success managers actually know your account, and when I recently got handed off to a new point of contact (my beloved CSM moved to a new department, so clearly it's a great place to work!) it was completely seamless. The product itself is clean and well organized too, a clear dashboard, documents filed exactly where you'd look for them, and timely email updates that link you straight to whatever's next. As a founder, having someone shoulder all the closing-down details so you can actually move on is a huge relief. I'd recommend Sunset to any founder who needs to wind a company down properly. I currently recommend it as much as I can!

We worked closely with Laura and even had direct access to the CEO during onboarding. The team was responsive, knowledgeable, and took the time to answer all of our legal and operational questions. They definitely made the process easier to manage. It was great to know things were going to be taken care of and that they would be on hand to help if any issues came up. We actually had a few issues with state filings that came up a year and closing the business and Sunset was still there and responsive in taking care of them.

I honestly can’t recommend Sunset enough.

What has really stood out though is that their support didn’t just end once the company was dissolved. It’s been almost two years, and they’ve still been helping me navigate random IRS requests and all the weird edge cases and issues that inevitably come up when unwinding a C-corp. Every time something pops up, they’re there to help and point me in the right direction.

Closing is an opaque process that sunset makes simple

Sunset was great to work with. The team was helpful, pleasant, honest, diligent with details and follow ups, and professional. Wrapping up loose ends on a legal entity seemed extremely complex and frustrating, when I kicked off the process. Sunset made that process 90% easier for me. Highly recommend them.

Sunset has been fantastic. They've made a complex and opaque process of winding down your company compliantly extremely easy and methodical to execute. Highly recommend them. Like all things, we hit some speed bumps along the way – we had some complex issues that felt like Sunset hadn't run into before, so I felt like I was guiding them through that instead of being led, but they still provided expert guidance and pulled in counsel where needed. I would work with them again!

Absolutely loved my experience with Sunset. As a founder, winding down our company after 10 years felt quite daunting. Lawyers are expensive. I didn't want to get the taxes wrong. We had a cap table with investors. All of it.

A quick call with Brendan laid out all the steps and costs, and very quickly gave me a roadmap. After we started our engagement, Sunset took care of everything, from advising on wind-down outreach to our investors, to dissolving our cap table, handling taxes, and managing the dissolution itself.

I think the thing that really compels me to write this review is how Sunset has gone above and beyond even now. Two years later, I'll occasionally get mail from the state (taxes, filings, old employment-related things that need signing or for me to pay fee, etc), and they're still available to advise and help point me in the right direction. Very grateful thank you guys.

If you have to put your dog down, you want to put it down in the most humane way possible. These guys are amazing to work with and the only way to ride into the sunset properly. Hope I never have to shutdown again but if I do, these are your guys.
