Difficult fitting completed perfectly

We had been having problems with a gas fire, and Derek Thomas from Stovax came to replace it. The old fire had been cemented into the wall, and Derek laboured for ages to free it without causing any damage to the wall. He stayed long after he should have stayed, to ensure the job was done, and cleared up leaving the place immaculate. We now have a beautiful new fire.

Jon Thompson the service Engineer

Jon Thompson the service Engineer. Did an excellent and efficient service to my fire, as I requested.
He explained when complete how to get the best heat radiation from the fire by using the low flame height since the coals radiate the heat and not the flames.
I did not know this.

Excellent customer support from Stovax Gazco engineer

Excellent customer support from engineer Reza, who replaced a faulty part on our new gas fire. He was incredibly courteous and helpful, and carried out the repair and subsequent safety checks in very close detail.

The company took nearly five weeks to…

The company took nearly five weeks to get an appointment. The first hour was charged at £170.00 how that can be justified I do not know! They removed a faulty part replaced it with a new part £156.00 so a total in excess of £300 for one hour really not great.
Do your homework on costs of spare parts and labour charges before buying the initial item.
I not the response from Stovax but at the same time we had an issue with our dishwasher Bosch charge £109 for the engineer including one hour on site and travel and their parts to complete the repair were £29 and the service from phone call to completion was 3 days!

Unfortunately, over time and with use parts do wear, and in the case of your electric fire which is approx. 7 ½ years old, a consumerable part did need replacing.

The cost of all replacement parts have increased over the last few years in response to the increase costs in energy, raw materials etc and is not unique to Stovax Gazco but reflects the current economic climate.

Although as a company we do try and keep costs down, there have had to be increases, especially in parts like the power unit (which was replaced) as we cannot make them ourselves.

When completing the online form requesting an engineer to site, we clearly state that the fee of £170 covers the callout, travel costs and the first 60 minutes onsite, and any parts required are quoted onsite by the engineer.

We are pleased however that our engineer has been able to successfully fault diagnose and fix your fire.

Faulty fire from new

Engineer Jon Thompson came and did an excellent job. He took the fire completely apart to find the problem and fixed it there and then. Great attitude and went the extra mile. Highly recommend Jon !

Excellent level of Technical Support Provided

The level of help provided by the technical team in diagnosing and working to fix a problem was exceptional. Not only did their advisor provide detailed information, but liaised with a third party vendor to further diagnose and then provided steps to progress.

Superb service

After receiving the wrong part, Stephen Lomas rectified the situation so quickly. The correct part was dispatched immediately and he kept us up to date. We have contacted the company in the past and have always received excellent service.

Our Stovax wood burner is excellent

We were really worried when there was a problem with our Stovax wood burner but there was no need. When we contacted Stovax they were very reassuring and helpful.
An engineer was soon to arrive. We were very impressed by his knowledge and efficiency. The problem was quickly repaired and we now feel much happier knowing that we have chosen a reliable company. Thank you Tim B and Stovax.

Occasionally as your stove gets older, issues might arise, but we are always happy to arrange an engineers visit either under warranty or as a service call, so that we can resolve the issue.

Our technical department always review a request for an engineer’s visit and will make sure if a concern has been raised that the correct parts are on the engineers’ van. We had your engineer Jon Thompson out…

We had your engineer Jon Thompson out to repair our gas fire and he was absolutely brilliant.
After a bad experience of dealing with an engineer from a Washington fireplace company I will only deal with Gazco from now on.
Jon arrived on time, and once he started the repair he straight away advised what was wrong and what he needed to do to repair it.
In my opinion Jon was incredibly thorough and professional going the extra mile.
This has given me peace of mind that our fire is now working safely as it should be.
A massive thank you to Jon, he’s an asset to Gazco.

Annual Service on Slimline Studio

Tim came to service our Slimline Studio Fire. He rang to let me know time of arrival, completely overhauled the fire & left it looking like new again! He answered all my questions & was really friendly & helpful- What a lovely guy, a great asset to Stovax/Gazco. I am one ‘Happy’ Stovax customer :)

It is always lovely to hear that a customer is happy with the service we provide. As part of the annual service our engineers will always strip the fire down and clean the firebox and engine. They will also (after discussing with you) replace any parts which are required, spray any coals and logs which need refreshing and clean the glass. They will also carry out a full safety check, allowing you to feel confident that your fire or stove is working and looking like new.

Stovax Futura 4 design fault

I recently installed a Stovax Futura 4 log burning stove in my home office. The stove looks good and burns nicely, however, there is a serious design flaw - there is no log guard provided and no option to retro-fit one, so if you use the stove for more than a couple of hours, there is a build up of ash to the point where whenever you open the door the fuel falls out all over the hearth. This is frustrating, as every time you add more wood you have to also clear up loads of burning embers from the hearth, but more importantly it is dangerous. Having spoken to Stovax's technical team they couldn't offer any solutions, which was disappointing. The only advice they could offer was directing me to read the instructions on how to "stack fuel" - this is irrelevant as once the bottom of the stove is full of ash the problem persists. To be fair, their technical and customer service agents were very responsive and polite so that is a positive, but I would not be confident buying another Stovax stove in future.

We are sorry that you are not happy with the design of your Futura 4 log-burning stove, however we would like to assure you that Stovax Gazco Ltd do take the design and quality of all our products seriously and that all products go through rigorous quality and safety checks and meet all the relevant government standards.

The Futura Stove range was launched in 2019 and was designed so the grate sits low in the fire box and the lip plate on the stove acts as a fuel retainer. Allowing the customer an uninterrupted view of the fire burning while retaining the ash in the stove.

However, if you are experiencing an issue we do suggest you do the following before and during refuelling, as it can reduce the potential of ash spilling.
• Open the air control fully for a few minutes before re-fuelling.
• Open the door a crack and wait approx. 30-60 seconds before fully opening to refuel
• Rake the embers evenly over the fire bed each time approx. 25mm deep.
• Refuel little and often with wood which is a maximum length of 190mm width 70mm
deep.

Sheraton 5 log effect stove

I was originally disappointed that a Sheraton 5 log effect stove I have only had a few months stopped working. One of the Gazco engineers named Ray visited today and replaced a faulty valve and all is now working as it should 🤞. Thank you Ray. Also good to know that a warranty is totally honoured by a company.
