A dirtbag company
A dirtbag company. They don’t have any customer support agents, it’s impossible to get in touch with anyone. I have disputed my order with my CC company now as So does refuses to do anything about my order. Go with literally any other electric bike company. They’ll tell you to call 323-372-3000 but that number doesn’t work.
Sondors stole my money
Like others, I prepaid for a Metacycle in June 2022 ($6000) and then paid the "delivery" fee of $700 in Sept. 2022 to "expedite" receipt of my Metacycle. Hearing nothing from Sondors, I canceled my order in early March 2023. I received an email confirming my cancellation and was informed that it would take up to 14 days to process my refund. It is now late May and I have not received a refund. Worse than that, I cannot get through on the phone to a real person. I am always sent to voicemail and no one returns the call. I have also emailed multiple times with no response. I filed a Better Business Bureau complaint and the BBB could not get a response either. I have also filed a fraud complaint with the Federal Trade Commission.
Madmods Scrambler is Underpowered!
I originally had my Madmods Scrambler in Florida and it was great; 30mph easy...but Florida is almost all flat. I have it in Pennsylvania now and it is woefully underpowered. At 30 amps & 100% power I have to gear down and pedal hard to get up even moderate hills. It definitely needs a more powerful motor. I have tinkered with all the advanced settings to no avail. I wonder if a Bafang 1500w mid drive would fit? Other than that, I may try a 1000w Bafang geared rear hub motor if the spindle width will work. I wish Sondors would offer a motor upgrade.

My review is similar to many others. Reserved a Metacycle back in August 2021. Paid for it shortly after. Years went by and as they started delivering, I was invited to pay a delivery fee to get it before end of year. That was last year and it’s now May. Several months ago, I gave up and requested a refund. They have ignored my outreaches and whenever I am actually able to get through to the sales line, they just file another escalation (that goes nowhere). I was able to connect with someone who was formerly an engineer at the company. They left after Sondors just stopped paying their salary (around the time of the mass layoffs). His words exactly are that they are “at best dishonest and at worst criminal”. The employee described their operations as “gasping for breaths” by advertising products they could never hope to make real. Worst of all, these new products require non-refundable payments. Based on everything I see, this will all probably end in a large class action lawsuit where the settlements will be Pennie’s on the dollar. This company is a scam and based on the 1.34 star rating on BBB, I don’t understand why no one has stepped in to investigate them before the damage gets even worse. Sondors is a textbook lesson in not buying products from startups- they have no credibility and they ought to get shut down. The red flags are there, but no one seems to be doing anything. The date of my experience is the date I requested a refund.

This company is a scam. NO Product and no refund., I have requested a refund for a deposit over 6 months ago. DO NOT SEND THEM YOUR MONEY YOU WILL LOOSE IT! At this point we are in discussions with a lawyer to see how to proceed next.

When spending 7k on anything you would…
When spending 7k on anything you would think that you would receive decent customer service. Not with this company, I quickly canceled my order. I could only imagine, if I had problems with the meta cycle how unresponsive this company would be, based on my experience before even receiving the bike. At this rate I honestly don’t see this company being around too long. Especially after reading some of these horror stories, from backers who have made full payments and get no support. To think my nonprofit was looking to purchase a large order after we received the first one, dodged a huge bullet! Thank God!
If you’re thinking of preordering or purchasing anything, I would check the Better Business Bureau regarding this company as well, like I should have before placing our pre-order.

I’m feeling nervous and taken advantage of by Sondors. I ordered their new metacycle with the understanding that it would arrive within a year. That year was delayed another six months. I contacted Sondors last Fall and was assured that it would be shipped within weeks. Well it is Spring now. I am wondering if I have just been scammed out of $6000. No response anymore from the company and no Metacycle. Prove me wrong Sondors. Do the right thing Sondors and provide the bike or return your customer’s money!
Worst shopping experience of my life
Worst shopping experience of my life. I was one of the earlier backers of the promised Metacycle in 2022. Pulled the plug in August of the last year (with Q4/Q1 promised delivery date) even though many on reddit/social media advised against it. For the first 2 months I received some ad like updates that were semi relevant to Metacycle but not specific. After that the updates completely stopped. I have not gotten a single update or delivery ETA on my order for 6 months. The last 3 months I have called and emailed Sondor's support a dozen times to ask for status or cancellation. I haven't heard a beep. It feels like they blacklist their customers and go to silence mode although they out $6000+ of my account with no issue. They have the worst and almost scam like behavior when it comes to customer orders and customer support. I am sure some kind of class action is going to brew out of this debacle because there are many people like myself that have been taken advantage of. I am not experienced with their Bikes but as a company they should be ashamed. I have never experienced anything like this. The most shameful thing is that they still send me ads to purchase another Metacycle with their so called EV credit. Likely another scam.
Crooks! Stole my money
I paid for a metacycle month's ago and no update. I requested a refund over a month ago and nothing has been done. They keep saying they will contact me but never emailed or called. I have spoke with them over the phone several times being told I would receive a call back and that never happened.

I JUST RECEIVED IT TODAY AND I'M SO HAPPY TO SAY IT IS JUST EVERYTHING THAT I WANTED TO BE AND MORE SO THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THE OPPORTUNITY TO PURCHASE SOMETHING AT A GREAT PRICE THAT'S EXCEEDING MY EXPECTATIONS AND YEAH I REALLY APPRECIATE THAT THANK YOU SO MUCH IS A GREAT BUY I'M GOING TO TELL EVERYBODY I KNOW. Dishonest advertising and unresponsive customer support
I made a downpayment in July 2021 to ensure the $5000 price of the Metacycle when released. After seeing the release date being continuously pushed, I wanted to follow up on this.
Customer support told me that they are unable to provide the original agreed price. The new price was $1500 more than advertised. This is a clear breach of their agreement so I requested a refund on my down payment.
Couple months later and I don’t have a reply from customer support and haven’t received the refund.
Sondors Custoner service rep is awful
Let me start off by saying that Sondors Custoner service was great at first !! The original rep ( Felencia ) was awesome an everything seemed like I was going to be a happy customer. However , after she transferred me to a different rep named Grant things went south fast . The customer service “ manager “ Grant was a complete jerk and ruined my day and my relationship with Sondors in one conversation. I have Bought 6 Sondors bikes over the years including 2 at the company start up, and I have always been a loyal customer. Recently I purchased 2 (recycled) smart step bikes in their email promotion. I assume these are Costco returns from Christmas. It took several weeks , but I received both bikes a couple days ago. One was like new with very little wear which was great and exactly what I expected it to be . However , the second bike was not so good. It was extremely beat up with over 40 miles on it. It had an unusable gouged front shock top as well as many dings and deep scratches everywhere. Now Miles eas no problem as that can be expected if it’s been used and returned. However, this bike was literally hanging out of the box on delivery and thrashed not only from use , but from being drug around in the box from being in unsecured or reboxed well. No problem I thought as they will surely replace it with a different one. I called Sondors and was told by the initial rep that this wasn’t the norm on these and that I would surely be taken care of. I was asked to send pictures ( which I did ) and was then transferred to a guy named Grant whom I left a message for. That’s when everything between Sondors and I changed. Good Ole Grant the “manager “ called me back . After explaining my concernerns , Grant without even opening the pictures I sent went immediately into a defense . He said regardless of the physical condition or shipping damage , if the bike still rides and operates then and I quote “ you got exactly what you paid for”.
I was in disbelief . Really Grant? Did you seriously just say that without even asking my name or looking at the situation or pictures ? In a matter of under 2 minutes Grant managed to make me feel like a his pawn who had been suckered!! What a way to lose a loyal customer of 8 years in 1 minute . I’m done with Sondors. I won’t support a company who allows their employees to be rude and demeaning to customers regardless of the issue. Trust me , there is Enough competetors in the electric bike world these days out there to not deal with that kind of horrible customer service. Good job Grant !!!
After my latest encounter with Sondors I have since seen many other similar writings on other Sondors sites.
PS I want say how , but I have since exchanged that POS bike for a brand new one. My beat up bike will now find its way right back to Sondors so they can pawn it off on someone else. In the mean time got a brand new bike for $499 and Sondors get their beat up bike back. Thanks
Great Electric Bike - Even Better Customer Service!
I purchased a Smart Step from Sondors in January 2023. There was a snafu with FedEx during the shipping process. The bike was sitting in a FedEx California warehouse for several days and the delay was going to cause a problem for me. I contacted Sondors, spoke with Florencia who said she would contact FedEx, investigate and see what the problem is and then get back with me. I don't know how she did it but I think there was magic involved! Florencia contacted me and said she worked with their logistics department, found there was a shipping label problem then fixed it and got the shipment released. After that, I got an email from FedEx saying the bike was on it's way, then got a notice it was in Nashville, TN (my home town) a few hours later! (I paid for ground shipping) I got my bike the next day and unboxed it, set it up and took a maiden voyage. Love the bike and look forward to many miles as the weather warms up.
One added note: I've contacted Sondors customer service with a few questions and other small issues. Every time I speak with anyone I'm always impresses with their professionalism and customer friendly attitude. Thanks again to Florencia and Anne!

Sondors above all others
Great bikes! I looked at them all. I suffer from analysis paralysis. Good website and big surprise, a person answered the phone when I called. So far the customer service has been awesome. The sondors had a better looking design than all of them. I looked at all the major ebike brands and just could not believe how much better their designs were compared to all the others. And at a better price. So that part was pretty easy plus they have a Ton of different models. It seems to me that most all the others except the really expensive ones, look like a bicycle that they put an electric motor on, stuck a battery in an exposed place and the prices are higher than sondors. So it wasn't that hard a choice after that. Lastly, I searched all the major brands I was considering on Trust Pilot, and that sealed the deal. More reviews and better rating than all I looked at. I'm going to take a look at the meta cycle it looks like a really cool electric motorcycle. Good Job Sondors! Keep doing what you are doing.

While Sondors makes a great bike for a great price. Sadly, their ability to support after the purchase is severely lacking. The external charger that came with the e-bike stopped working (maybe 1.5 years after purchase.) I contacted them and they mentioned that the bike was now out of warranty. I acknowledged this and asked about the charger, as it's technically not part of the bike and seemed to be defective. A charger lasting such a short time, does not make sense.... They offered a new charger at $75.00 with a $11.25 discount. This does not seem fair, as they are clearly making a huge margin on this somewhat simple product. This was a big enough bummer that I can no longer recommend this company in any good faith.

No communication/Delays
Sondors make deliveries to those who bought in the 2nd round when I am in the first supporters of the Metacycle and I have been waiting for almost 2 years!

I'm having trouble understanding the reasons for these delays!
They never provide details or communication!
I placed my initial order on April 11, 2021 with a delivery estimate in Q3 2021. After the delivery was to be in October 2021. Sondors announced the delivery in the spring of 2022. They made me pay the delivery costs on June 24, 2022 and announced the start of deliveries in July. Delay for Q3 and Q4 of 2022, was suppose to be end of 2022, and still no news.

Still no news from Sondors!!
I decided to request a refund in April.
Since that time despite several reminders, I have had no return!
I get ghosted by Sondors!
No respect for its customers and supporters!!!

Customer support is an absolute joke
Customer support is an absolute joke. My saga with SONDORS continues. After I posted this review a SONDORS sales rep reached out to me to "make things right" - He sold me at a "special rate" two new bikes - I feel like such a sucker - a week later the bikes go on sale at this "special rate" - but what can I do? I get the bikes and now fast forward 6 months and I have 50 miles on the bikes. One of them has a wheel seize. Should be covered by Warranty? Well, perhaps, we will never know. I have called them ("Please leave a voice mail and a Sondor's representative will contact you shortly") what is shortly? I have left 3 voice mails - directly emailed the SONDORS rep who sold me the bikes, emailed them three times - ABSOLUTE CRICKETS. This company is HORRIBLE -
UPDATE: reached out to customer support multiple times by email, voice mail, nothing. Did some research and found they are near bankrupt with orders they have taken for their electric motorcycle, but can't get shipped, because they owe them money. They fill mey email box with specials lf what they have left in their inventory. BUT- you will have no parts, no support, once it breaks and it will, it is junk. Buyer beware
