I’d requested a service as I had a “Generation” fault code on the inverter. I met the technician on site and he explained that the inverter was old, inefficient and underperforming and the solution was to replace it at a cost of £1,600. He explained that the new inverter would have a higher voltage, but couldn’t explain how this would benefit my system. I asked in what way it was inefficient as apart from the fault code it’s output was normal, but didn’t get an answer, only that it was old. The technician couldn’t explain what the fault code meant and that it was simpler to replace the inverter as it was old. I said I would think about it and get back to him on my decision. After he left, I turned the inverter back on again and it has operated fine for 2 weeks without the fault code coming back again. Perhaps it just needed a re-boot for a rogue code, rather than a new inverter? So, I paid £150 for them to tell me I needed a new inverter that would cost an additional £1,600, when all I really needed to do was turn it off and on again? I also shared this feedback with the company but got no reply. Disappointing.

Good comms with the company and the engineer.
Arrived on time and was V efficient, giving clear explanations and costings of recommendations.
We will be using SMR for the remedial work advised.

The engineers who checked my Fathers solar system and then did the work to get it working correctly did a great job and were helpful with answering questions and giving advice. We will be continuing to use Solar Maintenance and Repairs in the future.

Engineer turned up early, explained exactly what the error was and installed a new inverter, all within 20 minutes. He also explained clearly what we do and do not need (we half expected a hard sell for new panels and batteries, nothing could have been further from the truth). A very impressive service all round.

Engineer seemed friendly and competent......

I called SMAR after my solar system inverter and battery installed under the local council scheme failed repeatedly. What a breath of fresh air to have such competent electricians visit and since their visit all is up and running smoothly!
Plus their maintenance scheme is highly valued and appreciated.
I thoroughly recommend this ace firm to anyone considering a solar system.

Efficient test of the system with recommendations

David and his apprentice arrived on time, introduced themselves and asked about the issue I was facing. Following this, they tested the equipment and confirmed the problem giving three alternatives, each explained carefully. Following my decision they installed the new inverter. Checked everything was being recorded successfully and explained what I should be aware of going forward.

At all times my property was treated with respect.

Clear explanation of my solar problems and a solution identified and booked in albeit for a month later due to restringing being involved. Everything completed on the day by Louis who was very polite and helpful. My only concern along the way was ensuring the scaffolders turned up in time to erect the required scaffolding

Absolutely excellent service from first contact to final install.
Cannot fault Dom and Louis who surveyed, fixed and updated my system.
I’ve already noticed a halving of my grid electricity use and am delighted.
