The person in charge of my proof gave me good advice on how to treat white ink in this file and going forward. They were also very helpful in getting my credit activated for me.

I've used Smartpress for a few years…

I've used Smartpress for a few years and have never had a problem up until recently. Lately, all of my orders have been delayed. Proofs are late - over a week after placing an order when their website clearly states 2-3 day turnaround. Timeliness is an important factor for our business, and the recent delays have started to impact our scheduling and customer expectations.

I used to love Smartpress for ordering but will probably be looking elsewhere for my direct mail services from now on..

Efficient and Hiccup-Free

A Decade of Smartpress and they just aren't the same anymore...

I've been using smartpress for over a decade. Across several different companies/positions and multiple project types. They used to be my go-to for quick turnarounds and high-quality work. They had impeccable customer service and if something was wrong they would make it right. I used to be able to depend on smartpress and would earnestly and honestly recommend them to everyone. However, my work with them over the last year or so has been a complete 180 in terms of dependability. I can't even recall the last job I placed with them that didn't show up with errors. I used to have a sense that the person on the other side knew what they were doing and were looking out for their customers. I'm a professional graphic and packaging designer by trade. I promise I know what I'm doing with art files. The feeling I have now is that there's either an AI agent or general customer service person on the other side. They are not very informed about production design. They need their hand held every step of the way. Including pestering them to upload proofs for approval or to ship things in order to make communicated deadlines. It's really disappointing and finding a replacement with the same capabilities is going to be tough. But Smartpress's capabilities and ease of ordering are worthless when the prints show up incorrect and there's no time to fix before a deadline. They are no longer a dependable, quality printer. And from what I've seen from them over the last 10 years, the excellent customer service has waned to a frustrating and tedious experience of nudging everything forward yourself. I cannot rely on them any more and that’s a shame.

I will not use smartpress again- if you…

I will not use smartpress again- if you do a reorder and all is the same, be carefull. They will make a mistake on the order and place full responsibility on you. Example: reorder white print on clear label RE-ORDER. The proof comes over blue -which one would think is for art visual on white background. The order clearly was for white ink. Printed Blue. They say its my problem and offer only 20% to reprint their mistake. Poor choice of customer service.

After reviewing your account, I see that this order was placed as a direct reorder of your 2023 project using the same file and settings. Since then, we’ve implemented white ink–only printing for files like this, which created a mismatch in our system and led to the issue you experienced.

That said, we absolutely should have caught this on our end, and I’m sorry that we didn’t.

I’ve gone ahead and fully refunded the 20% reprint fee & shipping cost as a step toward making this right. We truly appreciate you taking the time to share your experience. Your feedback means a lot and helps us continue to improve.

Beyond happy with our unique, high quality invitations

We worked with Smartpress for our wedding invitations. They had a variety of folds, foil, paper stock, coating methods and ways to make them incredibly unique. They had a nice section on their website where they explained each part of the printing process and the details of each paper stock and details you could choose. The designers worked directly with me through a chat that made it so easy to communicate and proof our design. Once ordered, our invites came, beautiful quality, vibrantly printed and folded in the gate-fold we wanted, in 2 days!! We are so appreciative of the work ethic and communication to make our invitations special and affordable! Thank you so much!

They printed the internal diagram of a bifold brochure upside down twice. I had to get it resent and they printed it the exact same way incorrectly again even though they said they implemented extra QC.

Printing the brochure incorrectly twice, especially after additional quality checks were communicated, is not the standard we hold ourselves to. We also understand your concern that the confirmation image did not match the final product, that should not have happened.

Above and Beyond Customer Support

Given short notice, and a number of creative constraints, the Smartpress team was able to answer my questions, troubleshoot problems, and offer solutions without which our project would never have been printed. Big shoutout to Anna M for her assistance in getting these magazines delivered on time and within a very tight budget - we owe a lot to her for making this work for us. The final product printed beautifully, they are of high quality, and our order arrived before our launch deadline. Very, very happy with Smartpress for their professional and supportive handling of this complicated and at times logistically difficult project. Would definitely recommend and will be using again. Thanks a bunch!

Great service and beautiful product

The cards I received are beautiful! They even sent extra sets just in case some of the printing isn't perfect. I haven't looked through all of the sets, but I'm confident I got at least what I paid for if not more.

I'm used to responding to questions by email, so using the provided messaging system was new to me. However, with a gentle "please use it" I was quickly able to access and navigate their communication platform. At that point, all messages were available to any teammember along the way.
