Completely shocked and baffled – left with an infection for 18 days!
UPDATED: Angela the practice manager contacted me to arrange a consultation so I can get it checked out tomrrow still not sure what happened but assuming its a mix up with protocol. I appreciate the support from Angela though...
I am absolutely fuming with the shocking service and complete lack of care from Newbank Dental Centre. I called today with an active, rapidly worsening oral infection and a severe, unmanageable foul odour coming directly from between my two front teeth. The infection has gotten so bad that my front teeth are feeling loose and I am terrified I could lose them.Instead of helping me, they booked me for a phone call 18 days away. The dentist completely refused to see me in person, guessing over the phone that I have a cold sore based entirely on an assumption. What makes no sense is that a cold sore would be completely gone in 18 days anyway, yet they still refuse to bring me into the surgery to physically check or save my loose teeth.They completely failed in their duty of care by refusing to offer a remote phone triage or an emergency prescription to help clear the infection, the smell, and save my teeth in the meantime. Leaving a patient completely abandoned with zero medical help for nearly three weeks is dangerous and negligent. I have officially taken this higher to the NHS Integrated Care Board. Avoid this place if you need actual urgent care.

I had a checkup appointment. The receptionist greeted me and was very helpful filling in my forms. I saw the dentist and her assistant, they were warm and friendly. Luckily, I've had no problems with my teeth so didn't need any further treatment.. I was advised how to clean my teeth gently and was assured I was doing a good job looking after them. Overall, a good experience!

There was no receptionist at the desk…
There was no receptionist at the desk until after 2pm and my appointment was at 2pm. I had to queue for 20 mins which was a struggle for me as I have Multiple Sclerosis. I was in a lot of pain having to queue, you really should ensure there is always a receptionist at the desk.

I had an appointment for my wisdom…
I had an appointment for my wisdom tooth removal. I was very frightened as last time when they took the wisdom tooth out they referred me to specialist but this time my dentist was Aisha.
But she done it very professionally and I didn’t feel any pain just bit of discomfort.
They did charge me which was confusing as it was done on NHS last time. I didn’t understand this bit. Can you explain this please. Why I wasn’t charged last time for my wisdom tooth removal and was charged for another wisdom tooth removal?

Regarding the charge, NHS dental fees are based on treatment bands and individual circumstances at the time of the appointment. It may be that your previous extraction fell under a different band, was carried out in a hospital setting, or you were exempt from charges at that time. Charges can also vary depending on whether the treatment is completed within one course of treatment or as a new one.
We completely understand how this can feel confusing, so please do contact the practice directly and the team will be happy to review this with you and explain your specific situation in detail.
