My wife has tried multiple times to quit alcohol, detoxes and AA have not worked,
This method is more pragmatic, it realises the difficulty of complete abstinence and uses a pill to essentially block the effects of alcohol.
The company itself is excellent, all e-mails are responded to quickly(usually the same day) and the Doctor and pharmacy they use are equally efficient.

The doctors are very kind and understanding. The process is easy to follow through. Looking forward to my next consults

I'm a few weeks into my treatment with Sinclair Method and cannot believe my progress. The medication's impact was almost immediate and its effects have lasted to the point where I am now routinely drinking at a far safer level. Adrian has been a true support and an amazing guide as well as Dr Merron. The method requires strict compliance but the rewards are undeniable. I found out about The Sinclair Method through social media and was intrigued as I felt my drinking was getting more out of hand and I was worried that if I didn't take steps to manage my drinking then I would need to abstain from alcohol altogether, which was a thought that worried me as I love going to old pubs with my friends. The Sinclair Method sounded great because it meant I could still drink, as when I had tried periods of sobriety in the past I found I wanted to drink more.

When I started I was dubious and found my brain making excuses not to start the programme. With Joanna's support and patience I finally took the plunge and took the medication. The first time I took the medication I didn't have any interest at all in the glass of wine I had just bought and this worried me as I didn't want to completely say goodbye to drinking! However I realised that you have to persevere and then you can still get some of the relaxing benefits from having a few drinks, without the need to keep drinking until oblivion.

The best part now is that I can have a few drinks but don't feel disappointed at stopping early and I find with the medication that I don't want to keep drinking. This is perfect because I feel I can go to the pub 'safely' now and not worry about waking up with a hangover, or spending loads of money. I also don't spend so much time thinking about when I am going to have a drink. This has been a gradual process but it works.

Joanne has been fantastic, she was so supportive and patient when I was reluctant to start and has been really responsive since. Doctor Janey was lovely as well.

If you are worried about your drinking habits and you are considering The Sinclair Method I would strongly recommend you get in touch as it really is a great programme and means you can have a drink without all the bad consequences of drinking too much!

After a few months reading about TSM I took a leap of faith 3 months ago. My drinking halved over night and continues to decrease. My quality of life has improved significantly as has my liver function. I’ve got some way to go on my TSM journey, I have 100% faith in the method and can’t recommend it enough. Another month has passed and I said I would update my review. I do not need a drink anymore, I may have one but I can take it or leave it. I use the Baclofen tablets as prescribed and I take one before I fancy a drink. I still have most of the Baclofen left tbh. I feel so much better, I have lost weight, I can concentrate better and drink doesn't run my life anymore. I can now visit people without worrying about having a drink and I don't put off doing things anymore so I can drink. I’ve always been a drinker and since lockdown that increased to the point where I felt it was getting out of hand. I’ve tried therapy, hypnotherapy, reading self help books and abstinence but nothing seemed to work. The approaches didn’t quite fit with how I was feeling. I had a habit I wanted to control.

By chance I found someone on social media talking about the Sinclair Method so I did a lot of research and felt it might work.

I got in touch and Adrian emailed me back the same day. We had a chat and he explained how things would work, I’d need a private GP assessment and liver function test. After that I was prescribed Naltrexone. I take one tablet an hour before drinking alcohol and that’s it. If I’m having an alcohol free day there’s no need for me to take it.

This medication is an absolute game changer. It’s stopped the monkey in my brain nudging me to have a drink, and another, and another.

I’ve been on Naltrexone since January and I’m having alcohol free days during the week and just drinking at the weekend. I don’t miss it at all on my alcohol free days, my feelings are indifferent. When I do drink I’m drinking far less than I used to. I no longer feel the need to finish the bottle, or have one more drink. It’s so nice waking up and feeling like I’ve had a good night’s sleep.

I had 3 calls with Adrian and he was very supportive, there’s absolutely no judgement and he’s on hand if I need to talk to him.

Thankfully my journey so far has been easy and that’s down to Adrian and Naltrexone.

I’m now drinking to the level I’m choosing, I’ve saved a fortune in buying booze and feel healthier for it.

If you are concerned about your level of drinking I highly recommend giving this a go. I’m so pleased I found this and that it’s working for me.

The treatment has been astonishingly effective for me. With relatively little effort, my drinking as already substantially reduced.

Counseling has been supportive and arranged conveniently. Also, counselors have been available to be contacted and answered queries.

Over 10 years of drinking and having no control after 6 months I'm finally getting my control back.

I started TSM 8 months ago, after having tried and failed to get help via NHS channels. I was amazed at how quick and easy it was to start, was on my first mini dose within days (after having dragged things for four months getting nowhere with the NHS). Naltrexone has been incredibly helpful to me. It is not by any means a magical quick fix, but for the first time in 15 years I have been able to feel in control. I have so far slowly reduced my drinking to less than a quarter compared to before I started, and hope to continue to improve. Old habits die hard, and willpower is absolutely still required, but I would not have made it this far without TSM. Life is so much easier with the constant noise of craving, excess, regret and anxiety being dulled down with TSM treatment. Joanna and Dr Rachael Jolley have been amazing, and what you spend on the consultation and medication will quickly pay itself back in both lower costs to drink, and a better quality of life.

Call or email Joanna. Do it tonight or tomorrow morning. Just do it. Don’t wait to cut down or taper. Don’t wait to ‘sober-up’. Definitely don’t wait until it gets bad again. She’s really lovely and she’s been where we’ve been so the worst thing that will happen is that you’ll have a kind chat with a kindred spirit.

I’d always had Naltrexone and The Sinclair Method (TSM – a handy acronym for Google searches) pegged as my last resort so I was worried that I might not be accepted. Joanna and her team are there to help everyone and she made that clear to me from the start; everyone is accepted. The Sinclair Method UK designs individual pathways and they’ll work with you to find the right approach. If it helps you to decide if the method might work for you, I was, at my worst, drinking 1.5 litres of vodka a day for months. I’m not sure what a ‘proper alcoholic’ is but alongside those personal numbers I had an uncle that died of cirrhosis in his 50s and my mum died of alcohol related cancer at 61. I was removed from her care at 11 and I’m 41 now.

I started working with Joanna in June 2023 and received my Naltrexone a few days later. I had my last coaching session with her in March 2024 and I’m very pleased to say that I have reached extinction. For me that has meant going from what was a conservative 180+ units a week to an average of 8 since January 2024 and all of those recent units have come from social drinking on a handful of Saturdays. This process won’t make you hate drinking and it won’t make you feel awful after a few drinks. In my experience it has had an incremental effect on my brain, entirely sub-consciously, that has led me back to a place where I am far more aware of happiness without alcohol. I find so much more joy in other activities that had long since been ‘dead’ to me, especially sporting activities.

You’ll have your own journey and you’ll need to be very, very honest with yourself about taking the medication properly but that’s all. The side effects last a few days and are laughable compared to the demons of withdrawal.

Incredibly efficient, humane, and kind treatment. The caseworker was very professional and caring, and the entire process of obtaining prescriptions and delivery was seamless. I felt the effects immediately after I started and quickly achieved my goal. Before starting the treatment, I was consuming 24 units per day, which dropped to 6 on day one. I managed to get clean quickly; the method worked like magic. After struggling for 8 years and trying many different methods, this is the only one that worked for me. The Sinclair Method has simply changed my life - what more can I say! I am really grateful to Adrian for all his encouragement and support.

The thing that marks this programme out as different is that it does not mandate that you change your drinking behaviour in any way….the only rule is that you take your pill an hour before your first drink.

After just a few months I noticed my urges to drink started to subdue. Previously I had no “off” switch and every evening on drink was drinking to excess. My drinking had risen steadily over many years to the point of being at it 5 or 6 nights a week. Whilst still functioning in my day job I was definitely alcohol use dependent.

Within just a few months of starting TSM I noticed I had the will power to stop drinking early and alcohol no longer called to me the way it used to so I was able to start having more and more alcohol free nights by my own choice.

April 1, 2024 marked 1 year since I first spoke with Joanna at The Sinclair Method, in an attempt to fix my alcohol use disorder. Online research suggested TSM might be the solution to decades of problems for me caused by too much alcohol.

It turned out to be correct, and the Sinclair Method, employing the medication naltrexone, has completely revolutionised my alcohol intake, and consequently my quality of life. It really is a silver bullet, and for the first time since my teens (I'm in my sixties) I have full control over alcohol, and can choose whether or not to drink, socially or at home, without spiralling into destructive binges.

The fact that a year has gone by means that this method works. In fact, it seemed to have really bedded in after about four months, so the last 8 months have just reinforced my new, safer behaviour.

I wish I had known this was possible years and years ago. But it's working for me now, and already a year has gone by.
