I have really enjoyed my learning experience with Silk Mandarin. If you are frustrated with outdated learning models like I was try Silk Mandarin. When I first started to learn I was curious about the language and culture. I was learning for personal enrichment and to be able to travel to China one day. I picked a teacher here in the United States who used a text book that was very old. Also, it was about college students only and I found the conversations boring. Additionally, if I got a tone wrong or mispronounced a word more than once I was told to study more and I started to feel bad and didn’t want to go anymore.

Then I saw a casual conversation on Instagram from Silk Manderin advertising language learning. The people were diverse and were having a normal fun conversation. That was over two years ago now. I love meeting with my teacher as she is cheerful and fun. She encourages me to do better without making me feel bad. I am finally able to read and understand basic things. I can even write some characters. I can practice with the online platform and I find it modern with a variety of conversations. I can really enjoy learning the language. I believe we should all try to learn about different cultures.

Silk Mandarin has been quite helpful in teaching Chinese. I have been learning with them for a little over a month and have had a good time learning online. They've been considerate of my schedule, and my teacher aims to adapt our lessons based on my needs or concerns.

Silk Mandarin was highly recommended to me by a colleague and it has not disappointed. Yanqin is an extremely professional teacher who is diligent and facilitated excellent 1-on-1 online classes. The course content was fresh and very relevant for my career. Yanqin provided notes and recommendations after every class, making it easier for me to stay on track.

Great language instruction. The teachers and administrative staff are very nice and helpful. Learning Chinese can be intimidating and they help you feel supported and capable of learning. Good educational materials and integrated applications bring lots of opportunities for listening and practice.

Je suis en train d’apprendre la langue chinoise avec Silk Mandarin et je suis extrêmement satisfaite. Ma professeure Yanqin est une excellente pédagogue. Je trouve également que la méthode est très bien. Il y a des séances à faire avant la leçon et après également pour consolider les apprentissages. Je n’ai jamais progressé aussi vite dans l’apprentissage d’une langue. Bien sûr, j’ai deux séances d’une heure trente par semaine et je travaille seule également pour consolider. Mais Silk Mandarin m’apporte tout le soutien et le suivi dont j’ai besoin. Un grand merci encore à Yanqin, ma professeure !

In the past, I had many schools/resources to study Chinese and I can say that Silk Mandarin is the best one without a doubt. I got study both in-person and online and the staff is very friendly and amazing.

I have been learning Chinese for almost 2 years and was looking for a different way to practice to bring a bit of novelty into my learning method.
Silk mandarin helped me organizing my way of learning through efficient preview/review exercises. I like the idea of learning stuff on my own first and then getting to use it with the teacher.
I have been studying with an really good teacher that is both encouraging and fun.

I had always wanted to start learning Mandarin because it genuinely interested me. I already have lots of experience with European languages, but I wanted to branch out and challenge myself with something completely different, and Chinese had always tickled my fancy.
From the very first contact, my experience with Silk Mandarin has been excellent. Lily was incredibly helpful from the start, explaining everything clearly through messages and even arranging a Zoom call to go through the course structure. She was always available to answer questions and resolve any doubts, she is a truly fabulous member of the team.
My teacher, Evelyn, is absolutely amazing! I study one-to-one on the part-time online course, and she is patient, encouraging and extremely professional. Thanks to her teaching, I am already gaining confidence in speaking Mandarin, which I never expected so early on. I am currently studying for HSK1 and fully intend to continue with further courses at Silk Mandarin to keep progressing with my Chinese and HSK levels.
The online learning platform is very well designed and detailed, with clear videos that help you start practising Mandarin from day one. Apart from the fixed weekly class, I have complete flexibility to organise my self-study around my own schedule, which is ideal. The online materials, videos and examples complement the live classes perfectly and make the learning process much more effective.
Overall, I would definitely recommend Silk Mandarin. It is extremely beginner-friendly, fun and interactive, and you can really see your progress from lesson to lesson. It has been a brilliant experience so far, and I am very excited to continue my Mandarin journey with them.

I’ve been studying Chinese on a one-to-one basis with Silk Mandarin for almost a year now. It’s been a great experience and my Chinese level has hugely improved: I now have the foundation to start Classical Chinese in parallel to HSK 5. 非常感谢 Qiying 老师 and Mia！

Being based in London, I find Silk Mandarin’s learning platform especially useful. It really enables Qiying 老师 and I to have very interactive lessons. Qiying 老师 does a great job contextualising standard HSK vocabulary and grammar using Silk’s own materials. Although it can sometimes be quite challenging, it is always a lot of fun.

I highly recommend Silk Mandarin. Their seamless combination of platform, materials and teacher deliver a very comprehensive Chinese learning environment. This is quite different from the other Mandarin Schools I’ve used before.

Before joining Silk Mandarin, learning mandarin was something that I struggled with. Finding the right direction and more importantly the right pacing, was something I found difficult when tackling a language like mandarin on my own. Choosing Silk Mandarin helped me discover a better path forward and introduced me to a community of wonderful people. All of the team members have been very nice and helpful during my stay in Shanghai, and the teachers have been respectful and easy to understand. I've met a variety of interesting people from different parts of the world all seeking to learn mandarin. The course itself has been well structured and easy to follow as someone who enjoys both online learning and in-person instruction.
Overall, my time at Silk Mandarin has been very memorable and has given me the motivation to further my education in mandarin.

I have studied with Silk Mandarin for 8 months for my HSK4 exam. I took their part-time class with 春艳老师.

I have been very satisfied with the class, and will be continuing my studies with this school for the HSK5.

Things that particularly impressed me are:

- Videos explaining all of the vocabulary, grammar, and 'close words' that can be studied at home, alongside real-world videos that use the language for you to study.

- The provision of 'at home tests' that your teacher can check and correct any mistakes in-class.

- The focus on speaking in class, meaning that no time is wasted on introducing new words or grammar points, and instead we can focus on speaking, error correction, and mastering the content.

I have been very satisfied with Silk Mandarin and would recommend their methods or anyone wanting to study for an HSK exam.

Before having course from Silk Mandarin, I was just visiting different YouTube videos to catch some logic to learn Chinese. Although it is great to learn lots of information, I couldn't learn and embrace to logic just memorizing for a few days. Having a fear of talking to people made me order almost everyday. After I encouraged by the knowledge which I got from courses, I started daring go out and trying to make some sentences and saying the names of vegetables, fruits all in Chinese. Therefore I started cooking at home with all those things. :) I was very lucky to find Silk Mandarin as my guide on the way of learning Chinese. They really had serious learning materials and skillful tutors to motivate you to become eager and enthusiastic to learn more. The things I learnt before courses were in mess in my mind, but Silk Mandarin helped me to put them in order and comprehend the structures, grammars and characters with tones. Especially, seeing the examples of Slow Motion Technique made everything a lot easier.

The school has admirable organization: everything is very well structured, and you can see the work of a committed team that is always willing to answer any questions with kindness and efficiency. That is something I truly appreciate.

The study materials, especially the video lessons, are of excellent quality. They are professional, clear, and very helpful for reinforcing each lesson. The program as a whole is well systematized and feels thoughtfully designed to help students progress at a good pace.

From my personal experience, I did feel that the method can be a bit intensive, as the course moves through one lesson per class and most of the reviewing depends on the student. Although there are practice activities, they often focus on completing exercises rather than revisiting explanations in depth. I believe the program could be even more enriching if each lesson included two classes: one to learn the content and another to reinforce it together with the teacher. I'm sure this would help clarify those small doubts that sometimes remain, even when studying on your own.

Overall, it is a very good program, with solid foundations and a team that truly cares about their students’ learning. My experience has been positive, and I am grateful for the effort and the human warmth they show in every class.

I have been taking classes at Silk Mandarin and I am extremely satisfied. My teacher is fantastic—she is not only knowledgeable but also incredibly patient and encouraging, which makes every lesson enjoyable. This camp was safe, highly educational, and entertaining. My Chinese level was very basic before the camp; not even advanced enough to pass HSK1, but after the camp I was able to pass HSK2 with flying colors. Furthermore, the facilities are clean, and the staff are very supportive to every child’s needs.

I am currently doing HSK 1 private class with Nina. She is a very motivated and motivating teacher who transfers her passion for the chinese language and their hanzi-characters 😊 I love her teaching style, as its very free and flexible but on the same level super effective. Shout out also to Coco who is the consultant beforehand. She deals with all administrative aspects. Very efficient and always helpful and friendly.
