"Sensible" Opportunity for the Price!
My 3 grandchildren and I decided to surprise their parents with birthday dinner out for their Mom at the Kona Kai Resort. What my daughter and her husband didn't know is that we also planned an overnight stay, just for them, in celebration of their upcoming anniversary.
As a "teachable" moment, when offered the Sensible Weather insurance, I told my grandchildren that, while never hearing of it before, it would be a good idea..."just in case"! I shared with them that whenever I travel, I always get travel insurance, noting that the concept of Weather Insurance was new to me. They agreed to both purchasing it and sharing in the cost.
You can imagine their surprise and delight when it rained that night (nearly unheard of in "Sunny San Diego"), and we received a refund from our investment in Sensible Weather... Sensible!!!

They made it easy
It rained all night but was pretty clear most of the day but Sensible Weather wrote to me saying the threshold was met and that I could claim my refund. How fun to have some extra money to spend on our vacation.

Peace of mind
I didn't sign up at first, the weather looked great when I made my reservation. As the trip drew near, the weather forecast changed dramatically so I signed up. The value of what we paid was excellent for the peace of mind it brought- knowing if the trip was "ruined" by a rainy day that we would get paid almost the amount of a night's camping fee. I'll do it again when we come back.

It rained for two days straight on our…
It rained for two days straight on our camping trip and sensible weather says it did not meet the requirements for any reimbursement. Perhaps it didn’t technically meet there requirements, but I wouldn’t purchase this again because we ended up spending two days stuck in our camper and it did nothing for us.
**update, upgradingt rating… the sensible weather team contacted me and refunded me for a day of camping. They did tell me that the rain didn’t meet their minimum requirements but refunded my money anyways.

Not worth it for events that may cancel due to weather
Unfortunately, if you get this insurance and an event cancels due to weather conditions, but said weather conditions don't meet Sensible Weather's standards, they will not reimburse you. Told me I need to talk with the venue that hosted the event for a refund. I wouldn't recommend for an event that cannot be rescheduled and may be canceled due to weather.

To clarify, our Weather Guarantee is not cancellation insurance. Instead, our Guarantee provides reimbursement only if the specific weather conditions outlined in your policy are met. In this case, the weather did not reach the thresholds required for a payout under the terms of your Guarantee.
We completely understand how disappointing it can be when an event is canceled due to weather, especially when it cannot be rescheduled. However, since our coverage is tied to objective, pre-defined weather criteria — and not to whether an event proceeds — we were unable to issue a reimbursement. For refunds related to event cancellations, the event organizer or venue remains the appropriate point of contact.
