I have worn Jo Malone perfumes for many, many years but was retrenched and so couldn't afford the R4,000.00 plus price tag on these wonderful fragrances.

So I tried Scentimental. I ordered in December, missing the cut-off for December deliveries, which was fine. I ordered the Wood Sage & Sea Salt and the Cypress & Grapevine which are two of my favourite, in the travel size so that I could assess the quality before buying something bigger.

They arrived via bike messenger on the 6th January 2026 on a very hot day (30 degrees). I was immediately concerned as extreme temperatures affect perfume and it would have been considerably hotter in the dark grey/black plastic box on the back of the bike.

Heat accelerates the breakdown of the chemical bonds, it evaporates faster, it alters the scent and can physically damage the bottle, lid etc due to expansion.

I took delivery and immediately opened the two travel size bottles. The Wood Sage and Sea Salt's lid had expanded so much that I had to really pull to get the lid off. Due to the expansion caused by the 40 to over 50 degree heat in the black plastic box they were transported in. The perfume had been leaking of course and to my surprise, smelled sweet. Wood Sage and Sea Salt is not a sweet perfume. I then tried the Cypress and Grapevine and the lid came off with the atomiser wedged inside and spilled onto my kitchen counter. The lid also did not screw int place securely. It also did not smell like the original either having a very cheap smell that was not like the original either.

I immediately sent an email to sales. And waited. And then asked for a reply two days later and hot a reply from Shivani who told me to take the atomiser out using needle nose pliers to dislodge the atomiser and then reattach it securely by screwing it back in place. Shivani didn't bother to read my email where I state that the lid did not screw into place. She then told me that I had a store credit for future purchases. WHAT?!

I replied that I would like them to come and collect both fragrances and wanted my money back after expressing surprise that a company would tell a client to use a pair of pliers to wrangle the atomiser out of the lid of their defective product. I again had to ask for a response.

This was her response and I have copied and pasted it: 'If you wish to not use the product, you're welcome to throw it away.'

I again advised that I wanted them to reimburse me as per their 7 day money back guarantee and to date, I have heard nothing back.

Do not use this company. They don't honour their purchasing guarantees and the JoMalone perfumes smell nothing like the originals.

They also requested that this exact review be removed off of Hello Peter.

I have tried many dupes before and have been disappointed but Scentimental really blew me away with how closely accurate they got my favourite fragrance. Thank you, will be trying out new fragrances.

An absolute smooth process when ordering. Team was always available to answer questions! The scents are not similar but identical to the original scent and I am so happy and impressed!

I had high hopes after seeing all the positive reviews so it's quite disappointing to see that only 1 out of the 6 bottles of perfume I bought is actually decent, and this is after letting all bottles mature for over 4 weeks. Only 1 smells good and has decent performance, not good performance. As for the others, some smell fine, some smell completely different from the originals, and performance is very weak, within an hour the smell is nonexistent. Maybe it's inconsistent batches, I don't know, but I wouldn't recommend.

Edit: after leaving the perfumes for months and coming back to them, they smell so much better and last a lot longer. I will buy again.

I am trying to figure out if this company is scamming people. I have yet to receive a reply from them after a parcel was dispatched but not delivered. I understand that it's been busy since Black Friday, but this is bordering ridiculous. I have tried communicating through all available communication lines and all I can hear is crickets.

Best fragrance store in SA!! When my parcel arrived there was one bottle broken, which Scentimental replaced without any issues. You can really try them out and you’ll definitely love all their fragrances that lasts. Will definitely place my order again!🤩🤩

Initially, I didn't know what I was getting myself into. I kept seeing the ads on social media, thought it was a scam but eventually decided to give it a try.

Im officially obsessed.

I have been on a journey to find my signature scent for a long time. I wish I had tried scentimental sooner because it would have saved me a lot if heartache and money. The fact that they always have a special running and the option for the travel sizes means that I get bang for buck plus I get to try out a new scent before committing to a full bottle.

I made my second purchase a few days after my first. My first order hadn't even arrived yet and I was so impressed by the infinite options, how easy the process was and how friendly and communicative the staff was. There were so many other perfumes I wanted to try and I had to pounce on the opportunity. I regret nothing.

To top it all off when it came time for the delivery, I informed the staff of my injured ankle and they made sure the delivery guy came to my door. Come on, you just dont get good service like that anymore.

Im thoroughly impressed. Ive gotten a few of my friends to switch to scentimental and we will just be a few cuties smelling just as good as we look.

I’m extremely disappointed with my purchase from Sentimental Perfumes. I bought three different perfumes, expecting three unique fragrances, but every single one smells exactly the same. There is no character, no depth, nothing that separates one scent from another.

The quality is honestly shocking. It feels like they added less than 1% actual perfume oil and filled the rest with cheap alcohol. The scent disappears within minutes, there’s no projection at all, and it smells more like a watered-down body spray than an actual perfume.

For the price I paid, I expected something at least close to decent, but this is by far the poorest quality fragrance I’ve ever bought. I regret trusting the brand, and I won’t be purchasing from them again.

Don’t waste your money, the product is nowhere near what they advertise.

It’s been absolutely great, the only issue I had was with their atomisers, and when I raised it, they took it well and fixed it swiftly. I’m incredibly happy with not only their products but their services as well. 10/10
