I’m an enthusiastic amateur photographer and have some quite expensive equipment.
The insurance companies that advertise through the photographic magazines are aimed at professional photographers.
I had used Ripe to cover my watch so as soon as I-discovered that they would also cover my cameras and other equipment I signed up.
Thankfully I’ve not had to claim but I’m sure that if I do Ripe will honour my claim.

Did everything online with no problems
Did everything online with no problems. Quote was 10% cheaper than renewal offer with existing insurer and identical cover. What's not to like?

I was rather disappointed that the renewal price was over 3 times the price available on line, just the usual way companies work, add 20% and hope the customer blindly accepts the cost.

Fantastic company

Missleading .ie joinn on line and save impossible , the driving licence number will not fot the boxes.so you have to phone in sneeky trick and so obvious im sure the insurance obusman may be interested ill never use ripe again ill pay more to any other company next time

Introductory discounts rip off
Usual discount for new customers people who already with them have to pick up the bills.. I thought this had been banned but Ripe still rip off existing customers

Watch out for the refund policy
I took out a policy for my motorhome costing a little over £300 for 12 months. I sold it after 167 days of the 365 days of cover and was told by Ripe I was not entitled to anyrefund at all on the policy quoting the poicy info. Be mindful of this if you do chose this company. I wont be as Ive used other companies who are happy to refund minus an admin fee.

I understand that Ripe Insurance has…
I understand that Ripe Insurance has recently taken over a really good business GJW Direct and in the process set about absolutely ruining it.
I have been insured with GJW for more than 20 years partly due to the excellent relationship and personal service I have experienced in that time from Debbie Ashton and colleagues.
Now this morning i have tried to send some information to Debbie and the email bounces back. The phone number I have for her no longer connects.
I go on the website and there is no phone number listed so its obvious customers and potential customers have taken a back seat in the priorities.
I'm being forced to use 'live chat' which does'nt understand my simple request for a phone number and then goes on to tell me an agent will get back to me in 15 minutes.
So its very clear to me that some management consultancy or newly hired Director who will be with the business for 2 years before moving on has taken the view to implement a backward step for the business. Cost saving, efficiency, reduced staff numbers - but forgetting that people buy people and people in business make the difference.
I have listened to some of the recorded messages one gets when i finally found a phone number talking about 'giving our customers the best service' and ' collecting information about out customers' ... absolute BS
And now i have received an email from 'Virtual Assistant' asking me to answer some questions before literally pages and pages of script about what i just don't know.
Do you guys even consider how this looks for your business and in a customers eyes - we all HATE IT
No customer wants to be treated this way and for me its very simple if this is the way i will be treated from here on then i will be leaving GJW

Our main phone number has not changed and can be found in our FAQ's.
We do like to offer our customers different ways to contact us including via live chat, phone and by using our contact us form.
Our average wait time for live chat is around 4 minutes but can be slightly longer during busy periods.
When calling us, some questions will be asked up front to save you time when you do get through to us.
