Extremely disappointed – repeated lies, inconsistencies and attempted rip-off
Review:
I bought a Genesis GV80 from Richmond Motor Group expecting the “premium customer service” the brand promises. What I experienced was the complete opposite.
From the very first inspection (19 March) there were multiple serious inconsistencies:

Oil level was reported as over maximum and advised to be drained. It remained overfilled for weeks despite multiple visits and checks.
Front brake pads were recorded at 6.00 mm (OK) during the MOT, then suddenly 4.00 mm with new disc pitting just days later while the car was in their care.
A nail appeared in the rear tyre in a non-repairable shoulder position after AA recovery. The dealer initially confirmed the nail was not present on 19 March, but later claimed it had “been there for some time” and tried to charge me £264 (after quoting the full price of £323.99). They even told me the tyre was replaced on 30 March — yet the Genesis vehicle activity report shows the car was not started or driven at all that day.

Communication was extremely poor. Emails were ignored for days, reports were quietly edited after I complained, and they repeatedly quoted only part of my messages to justify charging me.
Even after Genesis UK got involved, the level of service remained unacceptable. I was left with a small courtesy car during half-term with young children while they dragged their feet for weeks.
We specifically chose Genesis over Volvo because of the warranty and promised customer service. After this experience we deeply regret that decision.
I would never recommend Richmond Motor Group (Portsmouth). Avoid them if you value honesty and basic competence.

I was relieved to receive a call informing me the body work on my offside rear door was complete, on time, and it was ready for collection. A few minutes later I received another call telling me it was not ready as they had just opened the parcel from MG and they had sent the wrong door. It would take two days before they received the correct door and, in the meantime, they would refit the damaged door so I could collect the car as arranged as I needed it over the weekend. Imagine my relief when, on arrival, I was told that they had in fact completed the repair, all that was needed was the trim on the bottom of the door and they were able to get that from the Guildford Branch. Despite this comms problem I give 5 stars for recovery from what could have been an awkward situation and for completion of work to a high standard and on time.
