Absolutely awesome stuff as always!

Absolutely awesome stuff as always from RetroSix. Ordered a cleanjuice GBA with an orange cover to go with the orange shell I bought from RetroSix last year. I was super happy to find the colourmatch was perfect and looked a perfect pair. I also ordered a custom holographic GBC Cart label for my EzFlash JR and it turned out incredibly well. In ordered one and they sent me SEVEN of the same sticker as spares with a lovely little note saying enjoy your free stickers. This was perfect as the first sticker I applied had molding bumps from the cart show up that the older paper sticker had hidden. The extra stickers allowed for a quick replacement and the finished product looks great. A+

Impeccable customer service and knowledge of products

I had ordered an item from Retrosix and it had some issues during install. I was fairly sure it came that way but it could have been me I'm not for sure. Regardless of that they replaced the board I had issues with for free as soon as they were able to.

Their support team has helped me with many specific questions on their Discord over multiple purchases over the last 2 years and I cannot express how great the service has been. Its very clear the people you speak to who do the customer service are also the same folks who make the hardware as they are incredibly knowledgeable about this stuff. Luke is the person I have talked to most and they are fantastic.

I will be happy to recommend them to everyone I know.

Just received my contoler back today…

Just received my contoler back today after not being able to afford new parts for my sons controller I've received it back fully fixed and I cudnt be more thankful retro six is the place for me always will be lovely people lovely company

Discord Customer Service

Tried to contact via email for support, email says their customer service is being migrated to Discord.

Now that's not inherently a problem, I can see why this would be a faster way to deal with issues. What is a problem is the thread made for support is public to everyone else in the Discord. Anyone in that discord can reply on your thread. Turning a 1 to 1 email thread into a public discussion.

Some people might be ok with this, some people might not. Either way you don't get a choice. Everyone see's your problems.

(And I understand that it gives other experts an opportunity of answering as well, but some prefer 3rd parties to not intervene with a Customer Support claim)

There is the option to private DM the staff on discord just like an email. The problem with email is 30% were never getting delivered to or from customers which caused tons of issues thinking we were not replying.

I understand your frustration but once you are on discord it's an instant message right away answers within minutes most of the time

Very reliable business

Very reliable business. I have had the opportunity to buy products and have them repair my gameboy.

Everything they offer is the best service or quality around. I would highly recommend to anyone that is seeing this to use their services.

Avoid at all costs, horrific customer service and incorrect order

Avoid at all costs. Sent me the wrong item and the doubled down on it with terrible, condescending and rude customer service. Horrible gate-keeper attitude and blamed me for them sending me the wrong item.

I appreciate the first apology I have received given there was never one in the emails, even if it is quite a double edged one.

I ordered a Game Boy Advance battery kit, which you sent with an Original Game Boy back shell and battery cover and when I asked for one appropriate for the kit (as is in the title of the product, the description of the product and in the pictures on your website, one of the pictures is even only the GBA battery cover) I was bluntly told to "read carefully". I also asked about other issues that were ignored in multiple email replies even though I kept asking about them.

Trying to make it out like I was attempting to get free stuff is just deliberately misleading, I even offered in my very first email to return the incorrect part of the item.

Edd, Firstly I'm sorry you feel that way. I have reviewed the email thread from yourself and customer service and it appears you ordered a CleanJuice product which you received, there was no wrong item. You simply didn't order any battery door cover for any particular shell or color and wanted one sending for free.

On your next order if you leave a note to include a specific color battery cover we would be happy to include one free of charge as good will.

Awful

Awful. Paid for the full range of mods for my beloved GBA SP. The sound, somehow, became much worse, despite wild claims on their website. One of the buttons also stopped working after they worked on it. It was sent back in brown paper only. I even sent pictures and a video to prove the issues as soon I received it. Most annoyingly, their customer service is unhelpful, unprofessional and rude. No refund, no offer to help with the issues. This actually happened a few months ago but my first review I was invited to write didn't get published. Avoid.

Thanks for your comment - I feel it only fair that I respond:

1) As you confirm, you've had my contact info and details of my issues since May 2022, so why would contacting you again via Discord a year later make any difference? If you really want to help make amends, you've had the means for over a year.
2) The date of my experience in this review has always been May 2022, this being the last communication with you that I could see about this.
3) You don't mention the main issues in your response - again! These are: a) you returned a demonstrably broken product, b) the mods you installed were either faulty or did not come close to living up to how you described them on your website. I felt really misled and disappointed at your lack of care and concern.
4) If you feel the single sheet of bubble wrap inside a brown paper envelope was sufficient packaging, so be it. We'll agree to disagree, especially as the GBA arrived damaged. I remember there was also a claim on your website that I'd be given a free new case for the GBA; where was this?

If you want to make amends, please feel free to contact me. I will update this review to tell everyone if you do.

Jeff, Firstly I'm sorry you have issues. As I'm sure you know our customer service is 100% open to public, cannot be deleted or hidden or get ignored (discord.gg/RetroSix).

I cannot see your issue there. I have also checked and you ordered a year ago so can't of happened a few months ago as you mention.

We also don't have brown paper so could not of returned it that way. All consoles are bubble wrapped and returned in double walled cardboard boxes.

Definitely jump on our discord and we can resolve your issue no problem.

Absolutely fantastic service

Absolutely fantastic service. I dropped my dead Gameboy Advance off for repair and now it's alive!!! It was returned in just over a week. The Gameboy was cleaned and serviced too. I highly recommend Retrosix and will be using this service again in the near future. Thank you 🙂

Absolutely brilliant...

Absolutely brilliant...
After purchasing a game gear replacement screen, which worked brilliantly after I installed it apart from I couldn't get into the screen menu, after Luke helped me on discord I decided to visit the shop and take it in, within an hour it was fault found and fixed , I cannot find fault in there shop or there work, or there customer service, I will be buying again. If you want advice or repairs doing to your retro stuff you won't find anywhere better, contact Luke or Gav at Retrosix

The Best Retro Gaming Company and it's UK Based :)

I have been using RetroSix for the last few years to help keep my childhood consoles alive. So far I have sent in my Childhood Sega Game Gear for upgrades and Modifications and My Gameboy Advance for the same.

Both Consoles are now perfect to the point that I almost can't believe that they are the same machines, the quality of workmanship and the new parts are top notch :) I would never in wildest dreams when I was a kid have emagined that both systems could have such incredible screens, such awesome clear black shells and crystal clear audio.

The highlights for me so far with RetroSix are the TFT CleanScreen's for the Game Gear and GBA, The CleanAmp Audio boards/1w speakers for both machines, the clear black ABS Shells and the Glass screen lenses. The most quality of life enhancing mod for me by far however has to be the ingenious Clean Juice USB lithium battery mod for the Sega Game Gear, the fact that I no longer have to lose my position in a Game when the AA batteries run out and can now simply play and charge via USB C is an absolute game changer, plus the two lithium batteries last for ages and quality of power board is fantastic, plus installation is simple to boot :)

Don't listen to the complainers who unfairly post poor reviews before allowing RetroSix to sort out Thier "issues" This small British company really is making an invaluable contribution to preserving and improving our treasured retro and current gaming systems :)

The worst place you can buy parts from…

The worst place you can buy parts from for any of your console up grades, I purchased a item from them , paid straight away using visa , then within miniutes get asked to confirm my billing address which apparently didn’t match the delivery and billing with my bank , so I kindly sent them a email that they sent me confirming payment and giving a order number saying the item was processing (also had the billing and delivery address exactly the same on it) , the response was 4 word emails from them if I was lucky on some of the responses ,

Exact email they sent :

“ I'm afraid we have a different billing address to the one you have provided there.

Until we can get an exact match we will not be able to ship your item.

Kind regards,

Jon”

Then I asked if their was another way to contact them for resolution and I get this email :

I am afraid not

and giving no resolution what so ever , I have about 8 emails all with reply’s less then vague on a resolution , usually 3 to 6 word replies in a very childish manner ,
I had to threaten to report them to the fraud department at my bank before they agreed to send the item , waiting for the item at the moment so god knows what will arrive , I know it’s hard to get parts sometimes guys and girls but please believe me when I say AVOID AT ALL COSTS !! Careful because this retro six outfit are on ebay as well !!

This is simply due to fraud. If you have a billing and shipping address that do not match and we do not confirm from the email used to place the order the reason for the difference, we have no protection from fraud and cannot ship the order

Gamegear full modkit.

Recently took the plunge on updating my gamegear with the full complement of modern mods, cleanscreen, retrotrosticks, cleanjuice, cleanamp and of course an all-new blue case. I chose to buy direct from their Stoke shop as I wanted to check the case colours in person and I'm not that far in terms of travel time, i'm glad i did. it was good to meet Martin and Luke in person and both were amicable, and their stock of games was a nice bonus buy moment too. Installation was slow as I always take time to do these thing as I triple check everything, very pleased with all the products and the final creation is just top notch, everything fitted without a hitch. Obviously, the new screen brings an all new sense of clarity to the gamegear but I have to say the retro stick mod is just awesome, so much easier than the old pad and brings a fluidity to the control motion that definitely wasn't there before. My only minor gripe is the screen and case alignment weren't spot on (the screen aperture was smaller than the active area of the usable screen by around 1mm on the sides) so I very slowly and carefully filed (and then polished) the inside square to make sure the entirety of the screen was visible, the end result is now i have an even 1mm black bar on all sides of the screen, not just the top and bottom, I know some prefer the tighter fit but I like to see the full screen with a slight black edge all round for symmetry, just my own choice. I've not managed to find out how long the lithium batteries last as once fully charged I've played it for around an initial 3 hours then an hour and half or so a day so certainly 12plus hours at that usage rate so far, charge lights still green.... Thanks guys and I forgot to visit the big shop!! Too anxious to get the mod started!!

Wide range of quality products

Wide range of quality products. Excellent guides and information on their Wikipedia / YouTube videos.

Only issue is they do not state that same day dispatch has a cut off time if 8am. Most sites are either 3pm to 5pm, so if you expect same day you have to wait until the following day if you order after 8am.

Some good products but woefully poor…

Some good products but woefully poor service. Forgot to send something which should've been included for the item to function, ignored multiple emails asking for it unless I made another purchase.

Sometimes emails do not get through. Best bet is our discord.gg/retrosix as no messages can go missing. We do not ignore any emails we answer every one every day so if you did not get a reply it likely is not getting through or the reply is not getting back.

Disappointing & Not As They Claim To Be

Unless you're okay with lots of hot glue, inaccurate repairs, insensitive customer service and a very basic result. This is not for you. Not for anyone who cares and takes care of their consoles.
