Corrupted mental health service,

Rethink provided negligent, uncaring advocacy that caused a vulnerable person serious harm. The organisation withdrew the service from the person in need rather than provide support; their complaint handling covered up the advocate’s failings. This appears to breach duties under the Mental Health Act, the Care Act 2014, and the Equality Act 2010. This is unacceptable and far from advocacy. They should be called ( No think).

Denied and not heard

dealt with a staff member called Meghan . Who was patronising. Incapable of hearing other people. I just wanted a safe place to talk about the troubles of BP t2 and ADHD
She gave me a long lecture about universal credit it sound like she read it from the Sun and patronisingly told me I might have to take a job I don't like. However I told her I'm applying for all kinds of jobs not a lazy person have done jobs like cleaning properly more years then Meghan being sitting on her rear acting big on the phone with her patronising. Nonsense she did not want to acknowledge my mental health she said I can't sort your problems. I never once asked her to and always sort my own problems Meg seemed like she had a low IQ . Must be one the gen schooled by robotic PC teachers not thought to think creatively or empathetic. When her micro aggression got detected she got more and more aggressive. She should be on the other side of the phone
A corrupt system which includes mental health scammers

Disgraceful and dangerous.

The NHS have now given Rethink the ticket to do mental health in the community work. Their CanDo line is promoted by the NHS. Had experience of both. Rethink is unprofessional, callous, really bad at communication, and has limbs that don't know what other limbs do. All in all, absolute dangerous rubbish with the power to harm vulnerable people. Disgraceful.

Not proper Advocacy - unprofessional

I’ve had two interactions with this Charity both times I have not been impressed when I need support with an assessment and interacting with Social Services - not only that advocate did not Reply to me for several weeks as she was on holiday - but she contacted my doctor and Social Services Without my permission and caused me a lot of problems. I wanted help with the form, not somebody to take over my life. Inefficient and very odd people that work there. She gave my number to a stranger who phoned me up. I didn’t know who they were and they were mentioning her. I was really angry because I actually thought it was Social Services so she created so many problems by her lack of organisation and clear incompetence. Don’t use this organisation - awful customer service - unprofessional and not trained properly in DBS, confidentiality and GDPR

Very rude and heartless

Very rude, uncaring and passive/aggressive. Gavin is particularly unpleasant and his boss is a narcissist with no care for the people she is supposed to support. Incredibly surreal when you need help, and they basically view those with mental health issues as "scummy losers that probaly wasted thier money on drugs"... a disgusting organization...

Rethink have helped me find my meaning and purpose

Rethink have helped me find my purpose in life. I suffer complex emotional needs and with the help of Julie Galliford I now run my own support group for men diagnosed with Borderline Personality Disorder. I not only get to help others but it also helps me no-end sharing my own 'Life Experiences' helps validate others and create a safe and welcoming community, something that was desperately needed.

Volunteering with Rethink

I applied to become a volunteer mental health advocate with Rethink Mental Illness in November 2023. From the outset, I was impressed by the interview and selection process and then the induction and ongoing training.

I became part of a group of five-six volunteer advocates. We were taken through all the training sessions by a highly experienced member of the Rethink Mental Illness team, Georgeta Busuioc. I quickly felt part of a close team.

The theoretical training was conducted in tandem with being given the opportunity to shadow experienced members of the Rethink team such as: Georgeta and her colleague Maxine Simms, as they held informal drop in advocacy sessions on various mental health wards within the Essex Partnership University Trust.

I have found Rethink Mental Illness to be highly professional and deeply invested in the welfare of both their clients and their staff.

I have learned a great deal about non statutory advocacy during the last seven months due to Rethink Mental Illness, and more specifically due to the enthusiasm and experience of Georgeta Busuioc at Rethink.

Thankyou

Rethink doing their best!

An organisation that is becoming day by day a progressive one. Like with any other national non for profit organisation things are not always perfect yet they do their best to improve employees' and clients' experiences. I truly enjoyed the last five years working there and being part of One Rethink. The newish co-mentoring programme, the fantastic EDI development work, the Workplace platform, which keeps people updated at all time, and various other employees co- production projects (forums) are evidences that Rethink is a progressive organisation striving to achieve the best for their employees and ultimately people their support.

You don't get hired irrespective of how qualified and experienced you are

I have just been informed that I won't be hired despite having fifteen years of experience in mental health care and level 4 qualifications in sports, along with a postgraduate certificate in Science.
I'll never apply again. Clearly, a non-white, non-English surname is the ONLY factor taken in consideration.
Brexit results. All this after twenty years working in the UK.

Having to pick up the pieces

My partner worked as an independent advocate and recently resigned .She was having serious health issues and I feel she was treated awfully.I had to watch her breaking into tears as she had zoom meetings here at home and once I had to stop it as she was in such a distressed state. Rethink had the luxury of using our spare room as an office for their business during covid and I had to watch tick box ticking people dragging my darling lady down and not helping her obvious issues.
I hope this goes to the top person in your company because I have been left to look after someone who I care for ,who used to spend her days caring greatly for people who struggled. She now has no job and it puts pressure on me as a pensioner to run our meagre home.So in conclusion you can clearly imagine what I think of your organisation . Another large business plagued by dreadful management ,who don't care for their people who actually try extremely hard to make it work. I am personally hurt and frustrated at the way my lovely lady has been treated but I care and I will support her with love, kindness and understanding, which in my opinion is in very short supply in the veins of your management.

Little paradise 🥰

It makes me sad to think that people have bad experiences with mental health services. As someone who has a mental health difficulty, I do struggling sometimes with accessing and accepting support and feeling like I'm going round in circles a lot.

I want to talk about the John Hall Garden in Leek, Staffordshire UK. It is a Rethink project.
They've won an award! For service of the year!

It is a beautiful place. A victorian walled garden with buildings and a pond which I love. The staff are helpful and caring especially Nikki and Alban and Sue, they're all really great I feel so blessed that this wonderful facility is on my doorstep. I left a while ago for personal reasons but I'm going to go back because honestly I've missed it.
Search John Hall Garden online it's a beautiful place. Like a mini paradise and I mean that sincerely. 🥰

Terrible

Terrible. I have ongoing issues with NHS. No support given or limited. Advisers seems to disappear. Emails are being ignored. They obviously don't understand mental health as their behaviour has such a negative impact on vulnerable customers. Very unprofessional and uncaring team.

Having made online donation of £110 on…

Having made online donation of £110 on 8th October 2023, the online system failed with error code. Tried to contact the Mental Health charity Rethink.Org by email and telephone calls, failed to contact. The emails were bounced back and on the telephone line I could only leave a brief message. I am not hopeful that my query would be resolved.
