Great report with heaps of good photos and information. Ben from Redbook even called me afterwards to talk about the car.

The NRMA reports were very thorough and removed some of the anxiety associated buying a used car. Defects were found and other discrepancies which at least helped with our decision regarding price and mechanical issues. George was extremely knowledgeable and helpful and didn’t seem to mind when I called him back to ask extra questions and for advice.

Very impressed with timeliness of the inspection, communication within the report and in the follow-up call. The inspection essentially saved us buying a lemon!

A major issue was missed in the inspection. One which I think should have been picked up. Redbook refused to take any responsibility. I would suggest that prospective car purchasers would be best getting a mechanic to check possible purchases.

It was easy to book with my NRMA membership, and the inspection was done in a good timeframe so we could decide on whether we’d buy the car (all done within a week). I booked on the Sunday and the inspection was on the Thursday.
I appreciated the call after the inspection, and was able to relay the information to my parents easily.

The car was in much worse condition than what was reported in the formal report. There is structural rust in the boot hinge section. The suspension is pretty shot as all the ball joints are very worn or damaged. The paint is not fair, it's actual rating should be a 2/5, with heaps of dents, chips and faded paint. My mechanic has stated that the overall presentation should be ~2/5. I would like a full refund please.

Ontime , efficient and great customer service

Our assessor was wonderful, giving us a summary over the phone and answering all our questions. The report was detailed and easy to read. The only reason for losing a star is that, even though he said everything was perfect/excellent, he only ever gave a maximum of 4 stars!!! I would like to know how a car can gain 5 stars - is it only by being brand new?!

I have used RedBook Inspections before, especially for private sales, they give me, a non-mechanic, peace of mind about what is a big purchase. It's a very good service.

It was very easy now used 2 different occasions

10 out of 13 checks in the Engine/Motor category were "Not Checked. Plastic covers blocking view." I would expect the plastic covers to be removed so the checks can be done. Having paid for the top Ultimate level, I got a report with 20% of checks not done. Also the report said the owner and service manual were not in the car and put it back on me to check with the dealer. These vehicles don't come with log books and owners manuals, instead they are accessed through the centre display and the dealer would have confirmed that if asked.

Report was good but not as complete as I hoped for

Once the report was emailed to me I received a phone call asking me if I needed any more information. I was very happy with the service. Will definitely let my friends know too, if anyone is looking at getting a pre sale inspection done.

The vehicle inspection was conducted promptly, which I appreciated. However, after taking possession of the car, I discovered a fault that was completely missed in the report. Even for a standard inspection, checking basic functionality like the air vents should be a given. Disappointing attention to detail.

Update: To answer your question, the rear air conditioning vents are not blowing air at all, which is a functional fault, not wear and tear. This wasn't picked up during the inspection despite being noted as checked and working. I now need to take the car back in to have it repaired.

Very impressed I paid the $344 middle the Rd,inspection & well worth it,mechanic was very professional & easy to deal with & honest,saves so much hassle & without buying a lemon
