Hi,
We’re sorry to hear about your experience and understand how frustrating this must have been.
Regarding the antivirus warning, this is unfortunately a false positive that can occur with certain launchers or tools depending on the antivirus software used. Our files are checked before release and are not malicious.
If your license key did not work, this is something our support team can resolve quickly. We encourage you to open a support ticket so we can verify the key, help you activate it correctly, or arrange a refund if needed.
We never want customers to feel their time or money was wasted, and we’re always willing to help resolve issues fairly.
Wasted my money
Wasted my money, I've turned all anti virus protections of on browser and pc itself and it will not allow me to download it because it has a "virus detected" in it.

Hi,
We’re sorry to hear about your experience and we understand your frustration.
The “virus detected” message you’re seeing is a false positive, which can happen with certain tools depending on the antivirus software and its detection rules. The files are scanned and verified before release and are safe to use.
That said, we never want anyone to feel they’ve wasted their money. Please reach out to our support team or open a ticket on Discord so we can help you install the product properly or discuss a refund if needed.
We’re always happy to help and clarify any concerns.

I want to share my full experience with…
I want to share my full experience with Cherax, in the exact order it happened, because people deserve to know what they are getting into.
First, I bought Cherax through one of their “official resellers”. The purchase itself worked fine. Before downloading anything, I went to Reddit to ask a simple question:
Is it normal that Chrome blocks the Cherax download and Windows Defender warns about a virus?
My post was instantly removed by moderators in both Cherax-related communities. I wasn’t accusing anyone of malware – I was literally just asking if this was normal behavior. The fact that they deleted it immediately made everything look suspicious from the start.
Next, before trying anything on my real PC, I tested the download inside a Virtual Machine to be safe. Even inside a clean VM with nothing else running, Chrome still refused to download the file and Windows Defender reacted the second I tried. The loader was blocked before it even touched the system. At this point, I suspected it was either extremely unstable software or something Cherax didn’t want people to look too closely at.
Only after all of this did I upload the file to VirusTotal to get objective results.
40 out of 72 security vendors flagged the CheraxLoader.exe as malicious, including well-known engines like BitDefender, Avast, Kaspersky and many more. That is not a small “false positive”. That is almost half of all scanners saying the file looks like a trojan.
To be clear:
• I am not blaming the reseller.
• The problem is the Cherax loader itself.
• I never even installed the file because Chrome and Windows Defender refused to let it run.
But the biggest red flag for me was the silence and censorship.
When you cannot even ask a basic safety question on Reddit without being instantly removed, it tells me Cherax is more interested in hiding concerns than addressing them.
After seeing the VirusTotal results, combined with Chrome and Defender both blocking it before execution, I cannot recommend anyone to run the Cherax loader on their system.
Cherax needs to be transparent about what their software does and why it triggers such massive security warnings. Until then, users should be extremely careful.

Hi there,
Thanks for taking the time to share your detailed experience, we genuinely appreciate the feedback.
Just to clarify an important point for anyone reading: your review concerns the Cherax software itself, not our service or our platform. We act purely as a reseller, and we have no involvement in how the Cherax loader is developed, packed, or maintained.
That said, we fully understand why the security alerts you encountered raised concerns.
Tools like Cherax use injection methods and protected loaders that often trigger antivirus engines, this is common across many modding related products. These detections are typically heuristic/behavior-based, not confirmations of malware. However, we agree that the number of flags on VirusTotal can be unsettling for users unfamiliar with this type of software.
What matters to us is transparency and customer safety:
We never modify the software, downloads come directly from the official Cherax developers.
We do not censor questions, Reddit moderation is completely outside our control.
We encourage all customers to research carefully before running any third-party modding software on their system.
While we can’t change how Cherax packages their loader, we always remain available for questions, refunds when appropriate, or assistance during installation.
If you’d like, we’re happy to follow up privately to help clarify any remaining doubts or assist with your order.
Thank you again for sharing your experience, your feedback helps others make informed decisions.
