Recognise Bank was founded in 2017 by experienced business owners who recognised the disconnect between traditional business banking and the needs of modern SMEs. Took a chance to open a one year bond…

Took a chance to open a one year bond as interest rate was very good. Initial setup was okay and was able to transfer in twice and access my account online. Real problem has been the very inefficient authentication system - having received an email to authenticate my funding account and not having received any code in the mail. The fact is that the bank already received two payments from my funding account to set up the bond- but now I'm repeatedly asked to authenticate my funding account? This morning (24/6) I received a further email asking me to authenticate my funding account- I called customer services to explain what was going on and that no code had been received by mail. Six hours later I received the code from Recognise Bank in the mail- dated 10/6. Of course this number is no longer valid as I requested another this morning after receiving the email. Seems a most inefficient and time consuming system compared to other bond providers I have. Impressed with interest rates- other aspects less so!

We are sorry that a delay in you receiving the code has caused issues- our authentication codes are valid for up to 30 days to allow time to validate your successfully validate your account. If you are continuing to have any issues completing the verification of your nominated account please let us know and we will look to support you further.

Fixed Term Deposit opening account…

Fixed Term Deposit opening account process easy online, then additional identification and verification was required. But I had to provide them by post which delayed the account opening process. Customer service was excellent, staff were friendly and knowledgeable. I'm assuming that their interest rate was great and therefore they were inundated with applications and it took quite a while to work through the process. But account opened and I'm satisfied as they communicated with me at each stage of the onboarding process.

Faulty analysis of Nat West sort codes.

I tried to open an account for a 1 year fixed interest and the system at Recognise would not 'recognise' my Nat West bank sort code, where I had had a current account for over 50 years!
Fortunately for Recognise, a person called Julie looked into the matter and got their IT department to make adjustments - eventually. It took two weeks with a lot of faffing but eventually was sorted and they honoured the original interest rate, which had changed downward in the interim.
