A great RCI course, brilliant instructor in a beautiful setting. Would definitely return for future training courses.

Did 2 courses there. The name of the place gives the indication that it is THE centre of excellence. I would rate the instruction as average, and satisfactorily met most of my objectives (some were seldom mentioned). My key advice would be - shop around, there are better places out there that offer the same courses for a cheaper price.

Accommodation is comfortable and the food is very good. The reception and booking staff are always friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. Where Plas y Brenin excels is in the quality of the instruction which is always tailored to the needs of the individual.

The fantastic staff who are all very welcoming and enthusiastic, together with the beautiful setting and interesting classes make a stay here well worth the travel from London (or beyond)...

I would highly recommend a stay at Plas y Brenin to anyone who loves the outdoors.

I have been to PYB four times, if that doesn't say it all, I have had an amazing time on each occasion....I will be back!

Comfortable, friendly, good food and good courses. Simply great

The course was great, a very knowledgeable instructor, fun people and every facility you could want.

However it was a "Mountain First Aid" course, this meant it was 3 days instead of 2 and was considerably more money. Personally I felt like it was just a 2 day course stretched out.

I was also hoping to be training for specific scenarios you encounter on the mountain and to be training on the mountain. This was not the case and a lot of the course was classroom based. When we were outside we were simply just outside the centre still within the grounds. I found this a little disappointing.

Perhaps just pay for the regular First Aid at work course or if you want to push the boat out maybe the regular 2 day outdoor first aid course. I wouldn't bother paying the extra for the "Mountain First Aid".

the instructors were good at what hey do but missed teh fact hat there diving was low rated. I know that they have to get back at centre in time but . the food for me was good at meal times but I have an allergy to wheat, so I ended up with porridge for break fast (as well a full break fast without sausages) oat flapjack for lunch. the bread they had is not for sandwiches which fell to bits, suggested a roll that is available from Warburtons. the cakes were great at medal time I had flapjack oats again.. to find on Wednesday that you have frozen cake cake so had cake on Thursday. I reported I was not well to reception staff but other than getting hold of a G in town. which I may have had to get ataxi to nothing more was said.
I caught cellulitis a skin infection spent 4 day on a drip to get me back on track. if something better here could have kept me well, thought I wanted topaddle.

Seriously the best of the best. Totally excellent facilities, the staff are exceptional and the management are really caring, kind and professional.

Thoroughly enjoyed my two day navigation course. Great facilities, great instructors.

Amazing place, great staff, supremely capable instructors, good food, great bar, good crowd, fabulous location, incredible variety of courses, good store and shop, there is nothing not to like at Plas y Brenin, I love the place and can’t wait for my next visit.

Excellent choice for my Mountain Leader Training, 1st Aid Course and my Mountain Leader assessment.
Great facility’s, all staff at the centre are fantastic and full of knowledge and very helpful.
The Kit Shops good for all the stuff you have forgot! Just check the tents over if you borrow one and put it up before your leave on expedition.
Bar, Bar food and food with accommodation is also excellent.
All the rooms I have stayed in have been very well maintained and clean with comfortable beds, desks and good storage.
Access to drying rooms a bonus.
Of course the main reason you go is the quality of the instructors whatever course your attending.

Brilliant experience and learned a lot. Excellent instructors (Carl and colin). Instructors were not too overbearing and we're sensible with the amount they let you do on your own. Not as much red tape on what you could do as with other experiences I have had. Accommodation brilliant. Made for a memorable weekend.

A brilliantly run course and fully functional and well equipped centre to stay in for it.

Spent a fantastic week on Get Into Rock Climbing course for beginners. The instructor was very patient and understanding with the group - we couldn’t have hoped for a better person to be alongside as gave us the confidence and self belief needed. Good atmosphere about the place, tasty food and comfortable room. Can’t wait to go back on another course very soon.

Can't fault the instructors drive and friendly attitude , same as to be said for the staff in the kitchen ,bar and reception.From booking my course I got a good vibe all the way through the five days I spent there.

Great facilities, knowledgable tutor and held in a beautiful setting. I throughly enjoyed my weekend there and it’s given me the basics of performing an Eskimo roll and I’ve successfully rolled in the pool at my club, just got to give it a go on open water 🤗

I thought the whole place was well run. I felt the leadership was safe and scaleable depending on competence. The food was great, also which really helped. We had a thoroughly great week and are looking for another opportunity to come, probably to do orienteering or similar.
