I went on a Competent Crew course with my wife and adult son (there was also one other learner sailor on board). The yacht was lovely; spacious, well-equipped and in very good condition.
Our instructor, Alex, is outstanding; he is an expert sailor who clearly enjoys teaching. He paced the course appropriately, making sure that we all understood new concepts before moving on. He is patient and calm, and made every day a fun, practical learning experience.
We experienced four seasons in five days, from calm and sunny to strong winds and rain. Alex's expert instruction kept us safe and left us feeling confident in our new-found skills. We will be back in the Spring for a Day Skipper course!

I undertook an ICC Assessment day by Prometheus Sailing, and I can't think of a better way to spend the hottest day of the year so far. Its not a training day, but an assessment, and I was very rusty, and messed up a fair bit. Peter the assessor could tell I knew the ropes, so a bit of encouragement and a second chance and I managed to scrape through. The boat was beautiful - a new Sun Odyssey 41, and the access on their own dedicated pontoon on the Solent (ie outside the marina) was superb. Booking was a breeze, communication good, a well run outfit and I'd definitely recommend and use again.
