I completed the first level of a self-defense course at Pretty Deadly Self Defense, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking to improve their personal safety and build confidence. What makes this class stand out is that it goes beyond simply teaching defense moves. It focuses heavily on intuition and natural body movements, which makes the techniques feel intuitive and easy to grasp.

The moves are based on actions we naturally use in our daily lives, which helps them become part of your muscle memory. Because of this, it's much easier to remember and repeat them during class, making the learning process efficient and effective.

The first level is packed with a wide range of techniques, and by the end, I felt much more comfortable not only with the moves themselves but also with trusting my instincts in real-life situations. A few years ago, several of my pre-teen students attended the Pretty Deadly Self Defense Course. As I assisted and observed the class, I witnessed their physical ability increase, their confidence sore, and their individual strengths shine through. These young girls bonded over their insecurities while building self awareness and becoming conscious of the skills they already possessed. Now in high school and college, they still talk about and use the moves they learned at Pretty Deadly.

As a woman who lives alone, I had always been meaning to take a self-defense class but never felt the dire urge until there was an attempted break-in at my flat. That's when I found Pretty Deadly. From the first class, I knew I was in good hands. My teacher was confident yet compassionate and the techniques were accompanied by funny names making them easy to remember (does anyone need a "cup of coffee"?) We also learned that "self-defense" doesn't always mean fighting back because the most important thing is self-preservation. Women are often made to feel like the weaker sex because we aren't as physically strong, but what we lack in muscle mass, we make up for in resourcefulness. This shift of perspective continues to help me feel empowered long after the course is over. I highly recommend this course to any female or nonbinary person looking for a boost in confidence.

Pretty Deadly not only teaches accessible tools for self defense, it also teaches awareness. My neices went through the program and I am so grateful they can confidently go into the world able to protect themselves.

I am a single woman that moves about the country alone. I firmly believe in self-defense for each and every one. You can NEVER over-prepare for situations that may arise and having all the available tools in your corner to deal with the “nasty” only makes living your life more enjoyable.

Took Pretty Deadly's self-defense training online during covid. Even through video I felt the training was so valuable, just showing a simple, intuitive approach to self defense rather than making it intimidating!

I’ve knowm Pretty Deadly Self-Defense for years, and wholeheartedly believe in the experience it provides for women with lasting effects that strengthen our sisters out there around the world.
