One of the best decisions I’ve made was joining Peck Academy to strengthen my instructional design skills.

Before joining, I researched many bootcamps and certification programs. What made Peck Academy different to me was that the focus wasn’t just on earning a certification it was about developing the skills, confidence, portfolio, and real-world experience needed to grow as an instructional designer.

One of the most valuable parts of my experience was the support and mentorship. Whenever I had a question, needed feedback, or wasn’t sure what direction to take, I could reach out to my mentors. I felt supported by Devlin and the mentors throughout my entire journey, so I never felt like I had to figure everything out alone.

I also loved the weekly live workshops. The Deliverables Workshop gave us opportunities to discuss our projects and receive feedback, the Storyline Workshop provided hands-on help with Articulate Storyline, and the AI Workshop helped us explore new AI tools and learn directly from Devlin. Having these opportunities every week made the learning experience much more interactive and engaging.

That’s also what makes the way Devlin created Peck Academy so different. It’s not just a program where you watch videos, complete assignments, and receive a certificate. The platform is built around learning together, helping one another, sharing ideas, receiving feedback, and creating a real instructional design community. You learn from Devlin and your mentors, but you also learn from other instructional designers going through the same journey.

The program helped me build my skills step by step. Through the Articulate Storyline training, I went from learning the basics to creating projects that I honestly couldn’t believe I had built myself.

Another incredibly valuable part was building my instructional design portfolio. I wasn’t just learning concepts I was creating projects that demonstrated my skills and receiving detailed, hands-on feedback from mentors to make them stronger. That process helped me build both my portfolio and my confidence as a designer.

The ID Project Lab also gave me experience working through an instructional design project from beginning to end, including stakeholder communication, project management, design decisions, and realistic workplace challenges. The Ace the ID Interview course then helped me learn how to confidently communicate my experience, portfolio, and design process during interviews.

For me, Peck Academy was much more than a certification program. It gave me technical skills, real-world practice, mentorship, portfolio experience, interview preparation, a supportive ID community, and so many other valuable skills, resources, experiences, and opportunities that helped me grow both personally and professionally as an instructional designer.

Looking back at where I started and how much I’ve grown, I can genuinely say that joining Peck Academy was one of the best decisions I’ve made for myself and my career. If anyone is thinking about joining, I would highly recommend the program.

What stood out to me most was how thoughtfully the program is structured. From the beginning, we’re assigned a mentor who supports us throughout the program, and there are multiple live meetings each week, with recordings available if we can’t attend.

The community is another huge strength. There is so much encouragement, collaboration, and willingness to help each other, and I learned a lot not only from the instructors and mentors but also from other students.

The program is incredibly detailed and practical, covering everything from Storyline and portfolio development to LinkedIn, resume building, interview preparation, AI, and even YouTube.

Definitely worth the investment!
