So I used Osprey charging for first…

So I used Osprey charging for first time for a top up . £45 was taken from my debit card immediately on the 3rd December which I now know was because I used a starling debit card.I charged my car for 30 mins and had no indication or receipt to say how much it was , I was informed however that the difference would be refunded within 7 working days . It is now the 16th December and I have received nothing , can someone please explain

We're really sorry to hear that you are still awaiting the difference to be refunded, following your charging session. Please drop us a note at support@ospreycharging.co.uk and we can investigate this further for you.

At the start of a charging session on our Osprey network, a £45 pre-authorisation payment is placed on your card to ensure there are enough funds to carry out the charging session. If your charging session costs more than £45, we keep this amount and charge the additional cost on top. If your charging session costs less than £45, we will refund you the difference. The time this takes is usually around 2-5 working days with Starling Bank but can take longer.

Rest assured; you will only be charged the cost of your charging session. Any pending payments that appear incorrect will soon adjust to the correct cost. Well as long as I don't get a fine for not putting my reg in quick enough at the Manor Farm ph L35 was shut at 2130 on a Monday??! Then the 5 star rating stands.

I’m being generous with 1 star!

I’m being generous with 1 star!! Please do not use these chargers because they will con you out of a £7. 87 a pre-authorisation fee to all account holders, due to the amount of fraud. This on top the expensive charge. They do not advertise this until you notice this on your bank statement. No other car charging company do this. I never post feedback but need to warn you. This a scam and don’t down load there app!!!

Please note that some banks (including Monzo, Starling and Revolut) will show this as a transaction on your statement, however, the charge is pending and will usually clear within seven working days. Excellent customer service

I went to the charger in Star City. For a charger that can charge eight cars, it in squeezed into four spaces. I had issues with signing in to the app, I have up and used the tap and pay feature.

Later I contacted the service team (use the email via website) and sent them a video screen capture of my experience when i tried to sign in via Google. They asked about my handset, they tried to help with the settings on my handset.

I gave up again. I used email to sign in. And I used email. I was sent a verification code and I was in the app. I let them know.

Avoid all charging points…rip off


AVOID ALL CHARGING POINTS, PETROL IS CHEAPER

Avoid, went to a pub and they were all free so plugged my hybrid in. Only 60 miles on full, cost about 8 pound to charge at home thought I’d give it a go….18 quid!!! 18 quid in petrol would get me 150 miles. And it didn’t work first time, still holding. 45 quid on my card a week later

Edited to 2 stars …..As stated in the reply this is the same as all charging points so unfair to call one out…don’t use any

The industry average price stands at 82p/kWh, and at Osprey, we are currently right in line with that average. Please rest assured you will only be charged for the kWh delivered to your vehicle. Disgusting prices...cost us £13 for o0…

Disgusting prices...cost us £13 for o0 miles ..obviously with EVs that's only 70 miles tops...charging 87p a kw!!! Tesla charge just 32p off peak...and 47p peak!! ...no wonder the charging station is derelict...greedy idiots run this company..why not bring prices down and obviously attract more business!! Prices of electricity is roughly 26p a kw ...crazy ..never use again..cost me just 7p a kw st home after 11pm..will make sure I charge every night.

Excellent Customer Service

I had a PCN from a private land provider to Osprey as I did not report to land provider while charging my car. I appealed to private land provider but it was rejected. Emailed Osprey within in hours they sent receipt and cancelled the PCN. Very much impressed with excellent customer care.

Email response was quick and helpful

Electric charging is still in its infancy and Osprey are one of the first to the market. I use one site regularly and 95% we are fine, but occasionally things don't always connect. I have had very speedy response from email contact and hopefully clearing a parking charge. I know they answer the phone as well, so they are keen to get things right.

Terrible experience at their charging…

Terrible experience at their charging station at Wheatsheaf Inn, Wolverhampton where I also received a subsequent parking charge notice. This wasn't obvious at all and I'd be surprised if I was the only one disputing this with Osprey and the Premier Park Ltd?!? Osprey are useless and sent a totally inadequate response. Investigation with Trading Stds around this is underway. I wont be using Osprey again and would encourage others to give them a wide birth. Site was also filthy, poorly maintained, litter strewn. I'd give a half star if I could....

They take your money unscupulously

One charge attempted today. The charger stopped charging several times stating the charge was complete when it wasn’t. Each time I had to restart the whole process- using my bank card as the app froze. Each time this company took £45 from my account. So as of today they owe me £135. Is this even legal? I am seriously concerned about the lack of control over these companies.

At the start of a charging session, a £45 pre-authorisation payment is taken to ensure your payment card being used has enough funds to charge. If the card payment reader is tapped more than once, another £45 pre-authorisation payment will be taken as the charger will assume you are a new customer. We are sorry this resulted in multiple £45 charges being taken. Rest assured if no charge took place, all of the pre-authorisation amounts will return back to your bank account shortly. We can confirm that if you do use the Osprey app to charge, only 1 £25 pre-authorisation payment is taken in a 48 hour period which eliminates multiple pre-authorisation amounts being taken. We can only apologise for the inconvenience caused. If you experience any issues charging after 1 x £45 pre-authorisation amount has already been taken, we would suggest calling the helpline number on the charger to ensure the charger is working as expected.
