Terrible Driver from Priceless Transportation
Our driver was from Priceless Transportation and he was absolutely terrible.
When we arrived in Orlando, the flight crew kept us on the plane for probably twenty minutes before they let us deplane. Then there were long lines at the bathroom. We waited again in a long line for my small children to get water. During that time, the driver called five different times to yell at us for taking too long, and threatening to leave us (!!) When we arrived at the baggage claim to meet him, he was visibly agitated and seriously acted like he wanted to murder us. He was scary. He refused to make any eye contact and did not introduce himself.
We reluctantly got into the car because we’d already paid. We also didn’t know whether cabs would go all the way out to winter park from Orlando, and we would have been stuck at the airport. Once in the car, he silently brooded and refused to speak. Then he kept turning on the heat instead of the AC when we asked him to make it cooler. This was July in Florida. He was visibly agitated and practically shaking with annoyance whenever we spoke. It was unclear to me whether he was turning on the heat on purpose to punish us for running late, or if he didn’t know how to run the controls in his car. (And honestly, which option is worse?). We arrived at our hotel and felt so relieved to get away from his silent raging.
We thought very seriously about canceling the return trip and trying to get our money back, but we decided to give this service another chance. This driver had broken English when he did speak, so we thought we should just chalk it up to the language barrier and some vast cultural differences.
However, it was the same on the way back…except worse. We were supposed to be picked up at 6:00 am. We were fervently hoping for a different driver. But at 5:50, he started calling to yell at us for running late. He again threatened to leave us. He followed up with a text to say he would be leaving us behind. Then he came into the hotel and had the concierge call us from the front desk. Let me stress here that we were not running late. It was not yet 6:00 am. Do you know how difficult it is wrangle your small children and all of your luggage out of the hotel at 6:00 am, while your driver keeps calling and texting that he’s going to leave? He turned a slightly stressful morning into very stressful morning.
Once we were in the car it was the same deal…silent brooding, acting like he wanted to kill us. This time he very narrowly avoided rear-ending other cars three different times because he kept getting out his phone to text and drive. We asked him to please watch the road, but he continued to ignore us. We hit traffic due to an accident just outside the airport, and that seemed to make him absolutely lose his mind. The ranting under his breath and hitting the steering wheel felt frightening. He told us repeatedly that he does not have the time for this. By that he seemed to mean that he didn’t have the time to be driving us. (Um, why take the job then?).
Finally, he then told us that he was going to drop us off in a different part of the airport and he could walk to wherever we needed to be. We had a bunch of luggage with us, along with two small children. We were already running late due to the traffic. We were not familiar with this airport. We asked him to please take us to the correct place. He hesitated for several seconds before taking the correct turn, like he was going to refuse.
If you’re keeping score, at this point we’ve paid almost $400 for the service and we’ve had to beg this driver twice not to leave us behind, even though we weren’t late either time. Now we’re begging this driver to please drop us off in the correct location.
Seriously, he was absolutely the worst customer service I’ve ever experienced in my life. Yes, we did make it there alive and with all of our luggage. However I can honestly say that he made the car transportation part of the travel into an absolute nightmare, and for literally no reason. It was by far the most stressful part of the entire vacation. There were moments when I thought he was about to seriously lose his mind. It was not pleasant, and we did not feel safe.
I do not generally write reviews or contact companies, but I’m sharing our experience so that other parents with small children can avoid this stress.
