Health insurance that listens closely and works hard to include everyone on their policies
After a recent cancer diagnosis, my local health insurance (in Vietnam) did not cover any expenses related to care or treatment (under their 'waiting period' small print after taking out a policy). I was in desperate need to find a reliable global insurance company to provide cover for me even after such a recent diagnosis. Many companies refused to even hold a consultation for cover not related to cancer, while other companies would impose blanket restrictions on other conditions or charged incredibly high prices on their policies.
I came across Optimum Global via AXA (partners, with OG's products re-insured by AXA) and communicated with their excellent sales staff (Jasmine), who worked very hard from start to finish to listen closely to our care needs and find the best suitable policy. Me and my partner have different nationalities, but OG worked hard to ensure we both received a reasonable proposal based on our countries of residence/ origin.
After choosing the best policy for us, we were then connected to the payment team. This process was more frustrating because they seemed to still be finalizing formats for invoices, and so we received some documents that didn't reflect our correct details. However, after flagging this to management, they promptly replied and quickly resolved this issue.
I waited until I made my first claim before submitting a review on Trust Pilot, which I did two weeks ago. The online claims system does not seem to work well (no confirmation of submission/ receipt), so I needed to complete the claims form instead (downloadable from their website). The form was quick and easy to complete, and they make clear what information you need to submit alongside the claims form. I received confirmation of the claim submission, but it took almost two weeks to receive a response back from the claims department.
They followed up with a few additional questions (date of experiencing symptoms, and history of the same diagnosis). After answering these additional questions, the claim was processed within 48 hours and I received confirmation of approval, with statement of reimbursement.
Overall, I am very happy with the services provided by OG, and I felt impressed at their ability to listen and empathize with potential customers. After making a successful claim, albeit with some delay, I feel safe knowing that they have our back while living and working abroad.
I would absolutely recommend Optimum Global to anyone, but particularly to people who are having difficulty finding insurance due to pre-existing conditions. They are reliable, trustworthy, affordable, and have a strong connection with AXA for additional peace of mind.
