Gift card expiry, they keep your money!

I don't think it's right that if you buy the wrong product, they allow you to return it, but only for a gift card, even with a receipt. The gift cards expire and then you lose your money! A gift card should not have an expiry date.

Terrible customer service

Called 11 March 4.06pm, 32 minute 50 secs call recorded in my phone call log, spoke to a male and I took name down as Regan. Told me he'd escalate my situation and someone would get in touch likely the next day. I called back 2 days later, to be told there is no Regan (maybe I got name wrong, but it seems very odd) at the call centre, did I even call officeworks (yes, number recorded in my phone) and there are no notes re my case despite me giving the male I spoke to the invoice number!?! So nothing's been done??? Call centre was unhelpful with my issue (unlike the male I spoke to on the 11th who told me they could consider my particular situation) so I asked for a manager to call me. They emailed instead of called, didn't know any of the issues and wasted my time further, so I've now escalated it to a complaint. JB Hifi were brilliant when I had the exact same issue, I thought officeworks would be the same but no. Not the customer service I expected from officeworks and will avoid shopping from them in future if this complaint is not resolved satisfactorily.

Samsung S24 Sale SCAM

First of all I walked into the store knowing exactly what I wanted so I walked up to the product (Samsung galaxy S24) & what's this.......there is no s24.

I saw it advertised on sale though for $737.00 so I look around for staff & nothing, I make myself busy & just double check through that is definitely the phone I want & not another one.

After a few minutes of doing that still no help, so I turn to the staff member standing a couple meters away picking his finger nails & ask if he can help me.

I ask if they have any Samsung S24 for sale? He says he can't see it on the shelf (could have told him that) so he will go check out the back.

2 minutes later he returns & says there are no more in stock & he doesn't know when more are arriving but they do have the Samsung S24 FE that's over $200 more if I want that. Well no I don't want it I want the one you advertised on sale but coincidentally don't have.

I look on the internet to find not one store in Melbourne apparently has a Samsung S24 in stock & you can't get it delivered or click & collect.

I wonder if consumer affairs knows what's going on or can explain it better to me as you won't get anything that looks like a Samsung mobile or a proper answer from Officeworks.

Was really excited to purchase a new phone but this experience of chasing my tail to be tricked that I can purchase a Samsung S24 on sale has really been a negative experience.

I'm going to just start calling it just Office as really it feels like nothing works. Very dissatisfied ex-customer.

Damaged my family

This unfortunately has to be a negative review. I’ve found the prices reasonable, the staff friendly, and the merchandise acceptable. But our first big encounter with them was profoundly damaging and their response was insulting.
We bought a school computer for my teen son, plus insurance. It failed and they repaired it. No real complaints about the computer. These break. The problem was how they handled the repair. My son is autistic but also a genius. He has thousands of hours in a passion project: a game he is creating. We have no backup, and because of the way the machine failed (wouldn’t start) no easy path to copy.
So I brought the machine in and explained this to the intake clerk. I had researched what was wrong and that the fix would’t require working with the motherboard or disk. I asked the clerk to not proceed with the repair if there was any risk of loss of data, and to return the machine. This young man was very helpful and said, hey how about I make a note for them to call you after diagnosis before they proceed, because sometimes data loss happens and this would avoid that. I watched as he typed these instructions, printed a copy and affixed it to the computer.
I subsequently emailed the manager Bailey and asked that the repair not proceed if there was a risk of loss. He kindly affirmed my concern and said he thought there was a way that was safe. Two days later I emailed again with my concerns, now expecting to terminate the repair. Bailey said he would get back to me.
As you can guess, a few days later the next message was that the repair was complete and the data erased. Now I know first that the repair did not require replacement of a motherboard, but this is the fastest easiest thing to do. When they do this, they have an option of putting a new SSD in, or repurposing the SSD from the old motherboard, completely erasing it in the process.
The emotional impact in my family may echo for years. This isn't just an inconvenience.
They had three written instructions to not proceed. Two were acknowledged by the manager. One was affixed to the machine itself! The actual repair could easily have saved the SSD and charged me for a new one. I had to obtain a new computer while school started and this one was going through a fruitless and expensive data recovery service.
Officeworks response: No apology; stuff happens; you shouldn’t have trusted us.

They advertise as having price matching…

They advertise as having price matching ...they have no price matching Cannon 512 printer cartridge $ 50 else where in the $30s showed them they spent 15 minutes checking it out said they compare prices every morning...No Change had to pay $50.00 .
will never use Office works again & I run 2 business would drive 20k rather than use them . just another Australian consumer rip off

Great products but poor service

This store offers an impressive range of products that you won't find in any other shop in Australia, making it a fantastic choice. However, the customer service often leaves much to be desired, particularly with the printing service. The staff lacks sufficient knowledge about printing options, aside from basic A4 paper and photos. It raises the question: why offer these services if there aren't knowledgeable staff to support them?
On one occasion, a staff member told me, "This is our policy; we can't print on glossy paper because it jams the printers!" It seemed he created this policy on the spot to avoid printing my stickers for some unknown reason. When I inquired if this was an Officeworks policy or specific to their store, he hesitated for a moment before responding, "It's just ours!"
Additionally, with the school rush in full swing today, the store was extremely busy. It would make sense to extend the opening hours instead of having staff become aggressive towards customers.

I needed to ask an Officeworks staff or…

I needed to ask an Officeworks staff or customer service member a simple question (which customers often have). I checked the internet for the East Victoria Park WA phone number and found it easily on a number of sites - so it's posted in many places which is a great thing. BUT no one had the courtesy to answer the phone. Coles group, the owner, has the audacity to expect customers to listen to a recorded message with no option to speak to customer service. There is No option to be put on hold if all staff members are busy. What happened recorded messages that put the customer on hold and say"all staff are busy and will answer your call as soon as possible?" What happened to a little customer service, a little decency? The rudeness of companies and monopolies like Coles is appalling!
The recorded message had the cheek to tell the customer to come in-store for help.
Shame on you Coles! Customers, vote with your online accounts and share online any genuinely appalling customer service experiences you have. More and more companies are passing everything onto automated responses, AI, and think technology can do it all. Not so! These companies need to deliver some customer service, be accountable and demonstrate ethical practices. Enough is enough!

Officework delivery is a joke

I placed two orders from Toowoomba Qld to be delivered to Dalby Qld less than 1 hour away. Two orders placed on 15th January. It is now the 30th of January still no delivery and I have had 4 calls through to them. They are having to redirect back to the store they came from being Toowoomba and I am having to go pick them up. They will not supply me the goods today so I can pick them up on no I have to wait for the delivery to go back to the store with the original stock and I am told it will take another 2 days. These goods were prepaid on the 15th of January.

Every time I have been to Officeworks

Every time I have been to Officeworks, the staff at Bondi Junction and Rosebery have been invaluable, happy and professional. Customer Service was excellent. Today was a classic example @ BJ: the two young men called "Will" were kind to me. It was amazing. I had a walking stick, and they helped me so much. God Bless them Both.

Ordered a Samsung FE+ and paid $747 for…

Ordered a Samsung FE+ and paid $747 for it. Picked the tablet up, installed my Apps and files. My husband pointed out I'd received the $547 FE. Took the tablet back and the manager said I'd got the FE as per the receipt. When my husband pointed out that I'd wanted and paid for the FE+. The manager agreed I'd paid $747 but for the FE. My husband then pointed out that the FE was on their shelves and online at $547 and the FE+ likewise was listed at $747. The manager wouldn't budge so my husband insisted on a full refund. We then bought the FE+ at $747.
Very poor customer service.

Officeworks policies out of touch for CX

Once again officeworks policies let them down. Once again I thought I’d give them another chance, but this is the last chance. I thought I’d try them on the soda stream exchange this time and told them I would like to open two of the boxes that looked like it had been opened to ensure the product was intact and they said I was unable to. ‘It wasn’t policy’. I had explained that I have had an issue before of products not being to intact. No budging from them. I turned and left and went straight down the road where I could do this transaction without the ‘policy’ getting in the way.
Guess what Officeworks you are not the only ones that do what you do, previously having poor experience with a few other goods over different visits. I am now done with you. I’d prefer to go to the competitors who are in some circumstances more reasonable or the same in price with a much better customer experience, where policies don’t get in the way.

Who you get makes such a difference

I had to get electrical plans printed and spent 1.5 hours fussing around - by the time I waited in a queue and got to the counter and I was told they couldn’t do it I needed a usb, I didn’t have my laptop with me and I was desperate I spoke to someone else and they basically said file was too big and I left very frustrated.
On the way home went to Taren point office works and was so lucky to come across Ilaria who printed them in minutes and explained what I need to know for another time. She was particularly outstanding and obliging and helped me with a host of other documents so effortlessly

Just anothe dud money-making corporate insult.

The company has joined all the others into corporate contemp for people by not having a website that's worth a cracker and prevents people contacting them to see if a product is in the store. So I've added Officeworks to my growing list of businesses to be treated the same way they treat me. If you won't allow potential customers to make contact, you're effectively preventing them from buying and sending them to your competition. So, goodbye for good, and good riddance.
