I called them and asked if the domains could be used without hosting. The support personnel did not seem to understand the question, so I clarified and asked "if I buy a domain from you can I set the nameservers to be the nameservers of DigitalOcean?" She said "no", and I asked "So how can I use the domain then? Only with hosts you provide?" And she hung up ...

My experience with Name.am’s hosting service has been unacceptable and highly unprofessional. The service was unilaterally suspended by the provider, after which all data in my hosting account was permanently deleted without proper warning, without giving me the opportunity to retrieve my files, and without providing any backup.

Company representatives clearly confirmed that:

none of my files exist anymore,

no backups were kept,

the data loss is final and irreversible.

This means my digital property was completely destroyed. Even more concerning, I was told that this practice is applied systematically to all customers, not just in my case.

The reminder emails I received contained no clear warning about permanent data deletion, no explanation of irreversible consequences, and no option to download or preserve my data. As a customer, I was not properly informed about critical risks.

If your website or data matters to you, I strongly do NOT recommend using Name.am’s hosting services. Based on my experience, data protection and customer rights are not treated with the seriousness they require.
