Whilst this is a good concept they are really just posting you a heap of crap. I bought the $220 box. It states online that there should be a combination of clothes, electronics and homewares. In real... Zobacz więcej

We got the Forgotten Tomb (which has an Egyptology theme). A lot of effort has gone in to making it look good and to creating a backstory, but as a puzzle solving experience it's both tedious an... Zobacz więcej

Do not think these are mysteries to…
Do not think these are mysteries to solve. What they mean by a "narrative" is a story that has a couple things mentioned in the story included in the box. Pretty expensive way to read a story.
All around terrible experience - UK Buyers Especially Beware
I wanted a fun 'puzzly' experience for my wife as she has gotten into these sorts of things massively during lockdown. I bought 'The Buried Puppet' with a promise that it was a 'strong narrative experience' with a small number of puzzles.
The box arrived and at first I was exited, there were a few cool looking mystery props, some papers with horror movie reviews and a booklet containing a story. We read the story, which was fine, in about half an hour and solved the corresponding puzzle quite quickly, which opened up another, shorter, related story. That was it. One puzzle (they were right, that is a 'small number'). The whole experience took maybe a little over an hour (plus some time being confused about whether or not we had actually finished, turns out we had) and only included one of the props in any way. It even turned out that the pages that were included in the experience were simply shilling for another, related company and were not part of the experience at all!
For the price paid (I think about £140) for the product and shipping to the UK, I was furious at the lack of puzzles, interesting interaction and even a resolution to the story. It was a mediocre short story with some loosely related props and was a total rip-off for what you got.
There are a number of fun puzzle-type activities you can do at home. I live in Reading and at least 2 of our local escape rooms have made experiences you can print-and-play at home for £10 - £15, these were vastly better than this overpriced twoddle. Or any board-game shop or online can get you an Exit board game, also great fun for an hour - hour and a half for a fraction of the price.
Then to add insult to injury a duty and tax form came through the door, apparently I need to pay another £30 for this junk. If it was a good experience then this would be annoying but I could make my peace with it, the fact that I'm nearly £200 out of pocket for this dross is infuriating.
Unfortunately reviews like this didn't come up for me when I heard of this company. If you do see this and are thinking about it please consider going somewhere else. I can think of absolutely no reason to buy one of these products.
Before you buy anything from this company...
Don't...just don't.
I bought "The Buried Puppet"....This was the biggest waste of money I've spent on an escape room experience. I have subscriptions to other companies that are 7 times cheaper and are far, far more challenging than this (and have far better customer service). I understand that it is supposed to be an "experience" but to be honest having superfluous items (that aren't even part of the solution) does nothing for me when the puzzle itself takes me less than 30 minutes to solve and I'm left with a $100+ box of junk that I'm going to throw away. When I contacted the company I was offered $25 off, which is laughable considering they had a 21% off offer on their website at the time. Bottom line don't do it, there is nothing good I can say about this company or their customer service.
Terrible
Terrible customer service. Warning to everyone - be prepared to pay expensive delivery costs on top of the experience and then the recipient of the package has to pay airport tax - another £30. MPC aren’t interested when you query it - point you in the direction of terms and conditions and then won’t answer emails. Poor all round experience. I’m very disappointed - it was supposed to be a brilliant special birthday pressie for my sister who got stuck with a bill for £30.
Broken. Ruined Experience. Poor customer support.
My twelve year old son received the Century Beast package. Unfortunately, the crate was broken, along with some of the items inside, including the "idol" upon which the whole experience hinges. All broken. This ruined the entire experience...the whole premise is that mysterious but real artifacts are sent to an unsuspecting person. Seeing it broken reveals the nature of the item and ruins the surprise. It is even more disappointing that we ordered this to bring him some intrigue and joy amidst a pandemic that has been taking its toll on him.
I sent them documentation of their broken items.
I contacted them and they did offer to sent a replacement. But, to me, this is insufficient. They are selling an experience, not an item. I asked for them to send an alternative experience rather than replace the items. Or give me my money back.
The box itself was under-protected. So I suspect this, matched with their return policy, shows that this happens a fair bit. It makes them fundamentally untrustworthy and a risky purchase for anyone interested.
Biggest waste of money in years
This was the biggest waste of money for my family in many years. The delivery of the first box was late so id gone on vacation while the cardboard box sat outside and got rained on. It didnt come in a wooden crate. It was cheaply packed and had a cheap presentation.
No one in the family was interested in it. It was so badly presented that even my 9yo wasnt excited.
I told them they blew it and asked for a refund. They said no and sent me the other boxes instead without our having even done the first.
Seriously people, save your money. This is a massive waste of money and thats saying a lot.
Experience was overpriced, poor quality and ruined by a promotional poster
Mysterious Package Company asked me to give them a review on their website, but it was never published. I guess they only publish their positive reviews, which I find extremely misleading. Based on the many positive reviews I bought the weeping book experience for my boyfriend when he finished his Master's. I've been looking forward to giving him one of these for years so I was eagerly anticipating the arrival of the package. Unfortunately it was immediately clear to him that this was some sort of marketing stunt/company because mysterious package company was "kind" enough to add a "free gift" (labeled as such) - a cheaply printed poster for one of their other experiences. How anyone could have thought this was a good idea is beyond me as it ruined the whole experience. Afterwards my boyfriend didn't even want to bother opening the wooden crate containing the actual experience because he thought it would just be filled with "other marketing trash". I ended up opening the crate and was extremely disappointed by the quality of the content. You could immediately tell by smell and sight that both the amulet and the book were mass produced. For $99 I would really have expected better quality - mysterious package company must have a huuge markup on their production cost because I doubt it takes more than a couple of bucks to produce the content. We looked through the book which supposedly belonged to a boy named xxxx yyyy, my boyfriend googled his name immediately saw that it was a character in a mysterious package company experience and lost all interest looking through this further. It's not mysterious package company's fault that there are so many id**ts out there revealing the plots and names of the experiences, but for the amount of money you pay for an experience you'd think they'd be able to make more experiences more frequently, so that you can chose between some that haven't been ruined yet. As far as I remember the weeping book has been for sale for several years now. Overall I am extremely disappointed and frustrated that I spent so much money on about 30 seconds of fun, ruined by the promotional poster and their cheap quality products. I was also surprised to find that we still haven't gotten a letter revealing who the package was from. Not sure if they forgot about us or whether they stopped doing it, but now my boyfriend doesn't even know it was me who sent the pacakge - I guess I'll just have to tell him soon.
