I was supposed to start my 5 day driving course on the 2nd September, got told I would be contacted a week before by the instructor, then it got to a few days before and still not heard anything - on the day the course was suppose to start no one turned up or got in contact with me.
Still 2.5 weeks later I’m trying to get a refund and everytime I call I get brushed off with the ‘someone will call you back’.
Please do NOT book with this company it’s a SCAM.
I’m waiting on £1,125 refund and no one’s getting back to me about this.

So, following my recent review where I questioned whether this company actually existed I am still trying to chase down repayment of the £1,200 I paid to them for a weeks intensive course back in May (order number 48620). This was the their response at the end of August: "The manager is now getting this dealt with for you. Please allow a little time and we can get this closed for you." Then on Friday 13 September I received this, "Hopefully this has been done but we can follow this up for you next week if needed". Still no repayment. I have been in conversation with them daily since I first asked for my money to be returned on 19 August. Please leave this company well alone. I am now having to chase repayment via the financial ombudsman.

If you value your time, sanity, and hard-earned cash, steer clear of this company. I booked a 7-day course in April for £1300, only to have it cancelled because the driver was 'sick.' Annoying, but life happens, right? So, I gave them the benefit of the doubt and rebooked—big mistake! The second time, they didn’t even bother to tell me it was cancelled. Communication? Never heard of it, apparently.
After a month of chasing emails with someone named Alex (who I’m convinced is a figment of my imagination), I finally threw in the towel and got my bank involved. While I’ve managed to get most of my money back, the £400 deposit is still MIA.
Here’s the thing: I paid for a service, they didn’t deliver, and somehow I’m the one out of pocket. Lesson learned—next time, I’ll go with a company that can actually fulfill what they promise.

On 22nd July my aunty booked me an intensive driving course for the 5th to the 9th Aug. These dates were perfect as I had my test booked for 12th Aug and I had already had a number of lessons. Over a week later on 31st July we were emailed to be told 'there was an error on the website and it shouldn’t have allowed you to book for so soon'. This was a shock as we had presumed the course was going ahead and were surprised we hadn't been contacted sooner. We would not have booked if we had known those dates were not available. We rang the number on the email and left a voicemail as it requested. We followed up with an email saying that wasnt acceptable, asking a manger to contact us and requesting her money back. We were told via email they dont have 'a call facility' and therefore we
recieved no phone call. We put in a complaint and have now spent 2 months and exchanged nearly 30 emails attempting to get my auntys money back, which she is legally e titled to under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013 and per recognition of this by My5day andthe statement on their website re requesting a refund within 14 days of booking. On 16th Aug we were finally told 'a refund is being arranged for you and I have flagged the administration charge as requested'. (We had said we don't see why we had to pay an administration charge as we wouldnt have booked if those dates were not showing as availabe). No refund was received. On 30th Aug 'the manager is arranging a full refund for you now'. No refund has been received despite exchanging nearly 30 emails. So

Do not use this company, it is a scam. They took my money but a day before lesson was supposed to start surprise surprise as the other reviews suggest, they cancelled apparently instructor ill, seems to be common theme here. Yet they then would not tell who the so called instructor was that was ill, I suspect they never had an instructor and came up with an excuse. I have been waiting for them to refund my money since July which initially they said I would have to pay £400 admin fee even though it was their fault. I spoke with Trading standards they can't do that, so I am now going through the small claims court. They never called me despite asking several time for a manager, you just get fobbed off with email responses. I guess they just make money by holding on to your money as long as possible and scamming people out of admin fee for doing absolutely nothing. DO NOT USE THEM! ORDER NO #53982

THIS SCAM MUST BE STOPPED IMMEDIATELY so others do not lose a months wages too. Will try Small Claims Court, but will not expect much.

As explained in the emails, I was very stressed and did not put a space between the '5' and 'day'. did not even know of the original (?) '5day' company. I'm pleased to see recent 5 star reviews !! including people getting refunds .. that is all I've asked for, but you seem to be stalling. Just give me a refund ... Please !!

Do not waste your money!!
Do not be fooled like me and trust the 5 star reviews. The communication is terrible from start to finish, they will not book your theory test for you no matter how many times you ask. When you do finally get in contact with your instructor, they will cancel at short notice. I only managed to get 1 lesson done out of my entire weeks worth before my instructors “car was broken for the rest of the lessons”. You will literally only get a response to an email after having to send multiple. I have taken this up with small claims court now due to the company still holding my funds but not providing any service. AVOID at all costs.

No refunds despite multiple promises. DO NOT USE TGEM. If you try to call you won’t get through… because it’s a scam!

Please, please don't use this company - they are a complete sham. My daughter booked a weeks course 3 months in advance. After months of chasing for information, tutor details and driving information she was still getting nowhere. A week before, she was still chasing daily for information, told constant lies about when she would hear or be contacted but to no avail. Finally, one business day before she was due to start her course her driving instructor apparently became ill (something that seems to happen often with them) and wouldn't be able to teach her for the whole week. She requested a refund and suddenly started having her chats blocked and not answered, emails not responded to and phone messages ignored. I advise you to make many email addresses and badger them, keep the chat going by interacting so as it doesn't time out, otherwise you get nowhere. After many promises saying a refund would be with her in 3-5 days, no refund appeared. False confirmation of refund slips were sent and still no refund came. It was only when she started to go down the route of court proceedings and a charge back through her bank that a refund suddenly appeared. 4 months of an absolute nightmare, the toll on my daughter's mental health has been huge. She needed to pass her test this summer in order to progress her career, which now through this total waste of time she has had to put back. Losing her money and opportunities.
These people only want your money and care nothing about you once they have it. Avoid, avoid, avoid!!!

DO NOT USE. Booked and heard nothing for three months, was chasing up through the online chat for hours nearly everyday to be promised things would be sorted and nothing to be done. As many others have experienced my course that I booked months in advance was cancelled one working day before it was due to start due to alleged instructor sickness, however given the frequency they use this excuse and the fact they couldn’t give me any details of my course even after three months, I’m doubtful there was even an instructor booked. I asked for a refund as they would not be providing the service I paid for, was promised over and over again it would be sent but nothing had been issued even after two weeks. Everytime I went on the chat to chase it up operators closed the chat or just lied to me. Keep chasing them up on the chat, they will block you but use a different email and keep chasing. Had to tell them I was starting proceedings to take them to court and that I was getting my bank involved for the refund to actually be issued. If you’re in the same position I was, keep chasing them up, involve your bank if you can and tell them you’re starting court proceedings as this is the only way to get your money back. You should be able to start a chargeback with your bank of it has been less than 120 days. If over this amount of time report to the relevant scam or fraud teams. To begin court proceedings you must write a formal letter to their address stating your complaint and giving them a chance to rectify the issues, if nothing is resolved then you can issue a pre action letter to inform them you will be taking them to court, then begin court proceedings. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.

My5DAY state they can’t verify my review as they have requested information twice, nothing has been requested. Another lie from the company.

I would give 0 stars if I could, I was scheduled in for lessons around a month ago, I received an email saying a new date needs to be arranged, despite repeated attempts from myself to get a new date sorted and several promises being made that the manager will call, this still has not happened. Would have been better off doing lessons the normal way, don’t waste your time with these scammers

I wish I had read the 1 star reviews before they stole £1,070 of my money. The 5 star reviews are fake - all of the accounts from those reviews are unverified.
I booked and paid £1,070 for an intensive course, scheduled for 26 August. I received very little communication from the beginning. They cancelled the service at the last minute (on 22 August) due to the instructor being unwell (as you will see from the hundreds of other 1 star reviews, this is the excuse they use every time), without providing an alternative arrangement for the week I booked. After I explained multiple times that I could not simply re-book the course because of complications with taking time off work, they stopped communicating completely. I made a formal complaint on their website, and they promised to issue a refund. After demanding this refund for a week, and empty promises of providing proof that the refund has been processed, they just ignore emails and send holding responses. Many people in these reviews have not received refunds after months of waiting.
ANYONE ELSE WHO HAS BEEN SCAMMED BY THIS COMPANY, YOU CAN GET YOUR MONEY BACK:
The company’s failure to provide an immediate and full refund constitutes a serious breach of contract and consumer protection laws.
Under section 54 Consumer Rights Act 2015, you are entitled to a full refund for services not provided as promised. This company's failure to deliver the agreed-upon service is a clear violation of section 49 Consumer Rights Act, and withholding the refund is both unlawful and unacceptable under section 54 of this legislation.
By accepting payment for a service that this company knowingly did not provide and subsequently failing to refund the money, its actions could also be considered fraudulent. This constitutes a potential violation of the Fraud Act 2006, specifically under Section 2 (Fraud by False Representation), which also carries significant criminal liability. Under UK law, directors of companies can be held personally liable for fraudulent actions carried out by the business. Should it be determined that the director (James Comley) of Amberstone Associates Limited was aware of or complicit in these fraudulent activities, they may face personal liability under the Fraud Act 2006. The consequences of such findings could be severe, including potential criminal prosecution and significant penalties, including imprisonment.
Please make sure you:
- File a complaint with Trading Standards (you can find this easily on the Citizens Advice website).
- Report the company to Action Fraud (type this in on google, and it's the first link to appear). You can specifically mention the Director of this company in your complaint, as under UK law, directors of companies can be held personally liable for fraudulent actions carried out by the business. His name is James Comley. You can search for this company on the 'Companies House' website to get their full details, including the postal address.
- Report this company, and its Director, James Comley, to the police.
- Make a court claim in the Small Claims Court to seek compensation for your loss and any additional damages incurred. This is more simple than you imagine. You can make the claim on the 'Make a court claim for money' page on Gov.uk. The name of the company that you need to make the claim against is AMBERSTONE ASSOCIATES LIMITED (company number: 07158472). You can search for this company on the 'Companies House' website to get their full details, including the postal address.
- Please reply to this thread if you would like to make a claim. I would like to put together a class action lawsuit against this company (our voices are stronger together!)

Booked a 5 day intensive driving course for my son for over £1000. He took a week off work unpaid and they didn't turn up or contact us. They are a nightmare to communicate with and just fob you off via phone and email, saying they will get back to me and that a refund has been arranged - but it was over a month a go and nothing. I am now having to go to small claims court. Do not touch this company with a bargepole!
Added following your response: Your response is a blatant lie. I have communicated with you SO MUCH. Now in court proceedings. Don't lie - its unethical. I see you were on the one show recently too due to scamming people - there's a watchdog email for consumers as there's so many of us that have been scammed.
