I’m writing this review after being told I’m only entitled to £50 compensation after they broke my £1,500 American-style fridge freezer, plus a few other items that I won't go into.

Read the small print people. I was ‘too busy’ organising other stuff….and I regret it.

I think it’s only right that I make you aware of what you would deal with if you hire Modern Movers.

Their ‘Jumbo’ Luton van (as they describe it) took five journeys to move us from our 4-bedroom house. The people moving into our house had a van literally double the size and paid an lesser amount. The van was not big enough to transport an upright fridge according to their report - which led to it’s breakage.

I worked extremely hard during the heat wave this summer alongside the men for 14 hours to keep the cost down, and we were charged £2,186.50 - WAY over what I was led to believe would be the cost.

They were extremely reticent about giving me an initial quote - now I see why.

Their packaging costs were also expensive - which added to the final bill. I can’t fault the effort the lads put into the move, just the deflective and evasive nature of their conduct.

If you’re reading this - please find yourself someone else.

Highly recommend! Iman, Gem and Ryo made sure my move was really smooth, speedy and stress-free. Booking was super easy and straightforward. They arrived exactly on time on the day of the move, and loaded the van quicker than I ever thought would be possible! They were all lovely and highly professional. I especially appreciated the extra care they took with all my plants.

Utterly appalling service. Multiple items of significant cost and sentimental value broken. Eg my baby’s changing table was broken by one of the men. The manager Malik approached both me and my husband and apologised and said he had taken the liberty of gluing it back together without my permission. After I reached out to make a formal complaint the company is now denying any liability and saying that the damage was pre existing and I glued it back together. They dismantled multiple items that they didn’t put back together including my bespoke recliner chair which is now broken. They yanked a wire out of my wall that was tunnelled in for the TV. They lied about the number of boxes used and overcharged me. They initially offered a £100 compensation fee. I would urge anyone who is considering this company to please choose another reputable company. I am happy to provide more evidence to anyone who would wish it. I will taking this company to court given the magnitude and seriousness of these damages.

Our whole experience with Modern Movers was brilliant. From the outset organising everything with Salim was super smooth, even when we had to change the pick up time a couple of times, all done over WhatsApp which was great.

On the day we had Cem and Germaine, they were BRILLIANT! Good humoured, sensible, really careful, and super speedy. Honestly it made a really stressful day so much easier. Also really great value!

Can’t recommend Modern Movers enough, book them!

We used Modern Movers for a move in June 2026. The crew on the day — Mimoun, Ali and Francis — were excellent, professional and hardworking, and we said so at the time.

Unfortunately, one of our bookcases was destroyed during the move — the entire side panel split lengthwise — and a second was damaged. What followed was weeks of bad faith complaints handling by the company.

The destroyed bookcase cost £70 to replace. Their opening offer was £40 — below their own contractual liability cap of £50 per item, and well below the actual replacement cost. Despite photographic evidence, an IKEA confirmation that repair was impossible, and escalation to their own dispute resolution scheme (Move Assured), their position never moved beyond £50 for both items combined — less than the cost of replacing a single destroyed bookcase, let alone two damaged ones.

No apology was ever offered. The managing director handled the complaint personally throughout. His responses were dismissive, relied on arguments his own terms and conditions contradicted, and at no point reflected the conduct of a company acting in good faith toward a customer.

We are now pursuing the matter through the County Court. The people who did the move were great. The company that employs them is another matter entirely.

Great team at Modern Movers.
Used them twice - first time had Imran & Mimoun, second time round had Em & Abubakr.

Both occasions, the guys were super friendly, and generally thought through the loading and unloading.
Pricing I thought was fair and largely standard across most removers. They arrived on time, though one of the guys on the second run was like 30mins late, which then blurs the lines a bit as to when the 'clock starts ticking' on their hourly charge.

I thought they're unloading was very good, though I did find a few light items underneath some heavy ones, which I then had to move myself.

Only improvement I would say is speed - they perhaps weren't as quick some of the other removals companies I'd used before.

Fantastic, fast & efficient response

These guys are the best! They are so kind and helped transport bedding to a primary school who really needed them. It's so nice to come across people who really care for others. Malik helped load and unload and was generally just a lovely, helpful person. I will 100% recommend these guys to anyone looking to hire a van removals company. I will be using them in the future and will ensure my friends and colleagues do the same 5*********

I highly recommend Modern Movers. They provided a me with a full service - a removal service and storage service, with packing and unpacking. They are highly professional, organised and totally reliable. They are also competively priced. Their team are really good to work with - positive, can do attitude and caring of your belongings.

Amazing, called them and was booked less than 24 hrs. It was urgent and I was stressed but they kept regular communication. They were on time. They took everything without being prompted. I have moved in/out 6 times over the last 4 years, and Modernmovers are literally THE best service I have ever had! Totally professional, they take into account every single detail when moving your belongings, be it fragile, heavy or bulky.
You would pay 3 times the price for the same service elsewhere! Worth every penny, 20000% recommend!
