Ordered for an event. Arrived after the event.
I rarely leave negative reviews, but unfortunately this experience deserves one.
I discovered Maria de la Orden with genuine enthusiasm and placed an order of approximately USD 833 for a professional engagement, relying on the “Standard 2–5 days” delivery timeframe communicated at checkout.
The reality was very different.
The shipment ultimately took close to two weeks to arrive in Peru, after prolonged periods of transit inactivity and repeated delays. By the time the order was delivered, the event for which the pieces had been purchased had already taken place, completely defeating the purpose of the purchase.
What made the situation particularly disappointing was not simply the delay itself, but the overall customer experience that followed. Throughout the process, I repeatedly sought assistance while facing substantial importation and clearance costs in addition to the shipping charges already paid at checkout.
Upon receipt, one of the items also presented visible finishing issues that did not meet the expectations created by the product presentation online.
To be fair, customer service remained polite throughout our exchanges and eventually offered compensation for the quality concern. However, following an order of approximately USD 833, a delivery that took close to two weeks rather than the advertised 2–5 days, significant import-related costs, and a product quality issue, the final compensation provided amounted to USD 18.68.
As someone accustomed to ordering internationally from European and British retailers, with deliveries to Peru routinely arriving within the timeframes communicated at purchase, this was one of the most disappointing international shopping experiences I have encountered.
What is particularly unfortunate is that I genuinely liked the brand and had initially intended to become a repeat customer. Instead, I was left with the impression that when an international order goes wrong, the customer is ultimately expected to absorb almost the entire cost and inconvenience of the experience.
Beautiful designs, but a deeply disappointing international customer experience.
