They say trust your gut — and never has that been truer.
I’m a property owner who handed my building over to myStayInn under a guaranteed-rent agreement. From the first meeting with Samuel (one of the founders), something felt off: there were already requests to reduce the agreed rent before we’d even started. The onboarding process was painful, with inexperienced staff who struggled to set up and operate the building effectively. While there were some issues with the building, we resolved them quickly and allowed fair deductions. Arranging works with this team, however, proved almost impossible.
What followed was month after month of late, partial or missing payments, plus unclear or incorrect communications. Over a 12-month period, chasing the contractual rent became a tiresome monthly exercise. myStayInn turned what should have been a straightforward arrangement into a modern-day Fawlty Towers. We thought we were dealing with professionals; in practice it often felt like we were dealing with comedians. Paying the agreed rent is not optional.
Eventually myStayInn effectively conceded they were unable to run a viable serviced-accommodation operation in the area. While other providers operate successfully, my experience was that they struggled due to team inexperience, software issues, and a limited understanding of local market conditions. The handover period — during which I did everything possible to make a clean transition — has been marked by further lengthy, inconsistent and inaccurate communications that continued to delay matters.
In short, the property was used to generate income while the contractual rent was not paid as agreed.
To future landlords: based on my experience, I would not recommend entrusting a property to myStayInn.
To guests: I wasn’t a guest myself, but the payment and operational issues created clear risks for anyone booked in. Guests can easily find themselves caught in the middle of a dispute that ruins their stay. I wouldn’t recommend booking with them either.
There are better operators out there. Trust your gut
