Ex-employee. Worked there for 7 months, requested back support for lower back in my first week. Never received it so I now have I creased back pain and discomfort. I left 2 months ago and they staull havet paid me my final wage fispite putting it in writing I would.
The managers at my location were great. Its HR who are massivly incapable. Which explains why they are millions in debt as a company.

I don’t know who this company are, but they keep calling me every day leaving voicemails. I contacted them and ask them to stop calling my number as I did not sign up for any trials. They stated that they cannot guarantee that I won’t be called as my number is being used in another profile which I think is a breach of my data. They are not helpful and would not allow me to speak to a manager without me giving my information and getting someone to call me back. I think they have enough of my information and keep calling every day and one of the receptionist called Amy hung up on me when I asked her to take my number off her system. Who are these people and where did they get my number? That’s what I want to know.

If I could give zero stars, I would. My recent experience with this company has been nothing short of traumatic and life-changing — in the worst possible way.

Before attending a screening, I was told I would have to stop taking my prescribed antidepressants for six days in order to be eligible. This was one of the hardest and most dangerous things I have ever had to do, leaving me mentally vulnerable and anxious before I even arrived.

The chaos began before the appointment even started. I was sent three different appointment times (10:30, 10:40, 11:00) and couldn’t get through to the contact centre to clarify. Wanting to be safe, I arrived at 10:15, only to be left sitting for 55 minutes without explanation or update.

The screening process itself was appalling. I was told it would take “up to six hours” — I mentally prepared for this. But after 5.5 hours, I was suddenly told there were still another two hours left. I had been instructed not to eat beforehand, yet nothing was offered until 2pm, and only because I asked. I had gone the entire day without food while being subjected to repetitive, poorly-worded questions that even the screener (Stephanie) admitted she had to rephrase repeatedly because they made little sense.

The environment was so mentally exhausting, disorganised, and devoid of basic care that I was left in severe distress and had to leave the screening early. This is a fact they have still not even acknowledged in their follow-up correspondence.

The consequences for me have been devastating:
• My GP has now signed me off work for six months.
• I have had to double my dosage of Citalopram from 10mg to 20mg after months of trying to reduce it.
• I lost a six-month self-employed contract worth £33,000 that I was due to start the very next week, because I was not mentally able to work.
• My ex-wife is now refusing to let me see my children until I am medically better.

This company’s total lack of compassion, organisation, and basic humanity has not only cost me my health, but my income, my career opportunities, and precious time with my children.

If you value your mental wellbeing, your time, or your dignity, stay away from this organisation. My experience has been an unmitigated disaster from start to finish, and the impact on my life will be felt for a long time to come.

I recently participated in a screening call which, unfortunately, left me feeling frustrated, disappointed, and genuinely concerned about the quality of support being offered—particularly for individuals who may be vulnerable or at risk.

The staff member conducting the call came across as unempathetic, disengaged, and ill-equipped to carry out the responsibilities of her role. Her tone was flat and unkind, with no effort made to create a supportive or safe environment. The interaction lacked even basic sensitivity, which is especially troubling given the nature of the service and the demographic it aims to support.

Equally concerning were the procedures in place: as it's clear she was following her standard pre-screen questionnaire responses and taking direction from her manager. There appeared to be no flexibility, no trauma-informed approach, and no visible consideration for individual circumstances, no further advice or support or person centered approach. The process felt cold and mechanical, with AI likely doing a better job at providing empathy than this human being on the phone. For a service likely dealing with individuals who are already in distress or navigating complex personal challenges, this is unacceptable.

If the goal is to provide support and improve the situations of those experience mental health difficulties, then serious attention needs to be paid to staff training, procedural design, and the overall ethos of care. As it stands, the system does not appear to serve its purpose and risks actively worsening the situation of those who need help most.

Why the hell are you calling me every single day leaving voice messages? I have no clue who you are and why you have my contact details. 6 calls in 6 days and 8 voice mails left. Now texting me aswell. Stick your trial up your arse and stop harassing me. This is apparently for mental health? So why do you think constantly calling someone would help with their mental health??

SCAM place only after collecting people's data.
After so many questions I was not accepted for a trial (depression) cause I smoke few cigarettes a day.
Anyone with depression that smokes not accepted I don't understand why.

MAC research customer support seem quite unhelpful. After dragging out lots of personal questions they say I cannot take part in a study for anxiety which I was wanting to take part of for personal rather than monetary reasons because my girlfriend isn't taking contraception.

When I explained she isn't taking contraception because she is pregnant and we are not currently having sex either she only said it doesn't fit the rule .
When I asked surely the rule is in place because "the anxiety medicine" could in theory impact the fertilization, but yet she can't get pregnant twice she seemed flummoxed. I then tried to reiterate if she could check with someone more senior; my partner is pregnant, we are not having sex and in the future after she has given birth she will be taking contraception.
Sometimes I think arbitrary fit all rules don't make any sense , and the customer service women of MAC I spoke to really didn't have any ability to see that it didn't make any sense either .

Absolutely disgusting company who do clinical research trials.

I have applied for multiple trials and after a long time answering questions, they always seemingly trip you up at the end, usually with a question that could of been asked at the start!

I did get on one study but this was only after a complaint
