A Positive Experience with LY.com AKA hopegoo.com

I booked my ticket from ANU to JFK for 1/2 the price the airline was charging. I got my confirmination in 24 hours and then confirmed with the airline and sure enough it was legit. I read some reviews before I purchased my ticket and a common negative was that the purcharser changed their itinerary or bought their ticket less than 24 hours, but for the price I had to take a chance. There was also a complaint that everything was in Chinese but there is a tab to change to English at the top right Sometimes you have to tune out the negative and go with your gut. I bought my ticket for $308 and the airline price was twice that

Stay away - not reputable

Probably a scam or just a very bad travel agent. Paid and got sent a ticket with a flight number that didn't exist. Then got sent notification that the flight had changed time by - one minute- If I wanted to cancel I could pay their US$80 fee by phoning customer service in China. When I didn't cancel got an email saying the departure airport had changed to the new airport (correct) and again that US$80 fee and phone call if I wanted to cancel which I'm sure is illegal, Since this is not the ticket I purchased, how can they take money from me for a completely different ticket I never authorized?

Flight cancelled, no help, no compensation – Stay away from Ly.com

Stay away from this company! they’re almost a scam. Our flight back from Bali to Hong Kong was cancelled without warning. At the airport, AirAsia gave us a replacement flight the next day with long layovers that kept me traveling the whole day.

Neither AirAsia nor Ly.com helped me. They didn’t offer a hotel, refund, or support of any kind. I ended up losing money, time, and a workday. Considering the cost of the cancelled flights (2), the additional night of hotel, meals, and transport because of the flight cancellation, I lost around USD 600. After going back and forth with them, they offered me a compensation of only USD 26, which is ridiculous, and I refused it.

Stay away from this company!

I booked the wrong departure date

I booked the wrong departure date, so I emailed them to let them know I want to depart a day earlier. They sent me an email saying it will be chargeable with the amount stated and that they will send me the payment link once I’ve agreed upon. I told them I’m willing to pay the amount and waited 2 days for the payment link by the end of the day they send me an automated message saying I’m not eligible for change of flight?! either I go to the airport to try to catch a flight/change ticket at the counter or stick to my usual timing. Bloody ridiculous! Why send me the price and ask me to agree with payment link in the first place. You send me the cancellation a day before the day I want to depart!

DONT BOOK WITH LY.COM

First time using this so called recommended provider by skyscanner. Makes me cannot trust Skyscanner too.

Got my flight changed due to so call 'delay' for both ways. First I've got to go one day earlier, today I've got to return one day later. Quickly submit for refund. Hopefully, I can get the refunds. Else, RM120++ burnt for a lesson learning session.

Dont buy with providers that is not familiar.

I booked through them and got my ticket and everything was fine on my first leg of the trip. When I was coming home, the flight I had purchased had been cancelled and I was never emailed or let known of this change. Luckily the woman at the desk helped me get onto another flight but I was definitely shit out of luck. would not recommend.

Cancelled flight no refund

Is it cheaper? Yes.
If ANYTHING does not go 100% smooth, you're going to regret choosing them.
First off: We had an entry error when inputting passenger information.

1. They were unable to update gender on our flight reservation.
2. They were unable to update name information.

3. They call during regular work hours for China. I've been woken up numerous times to phone calls between 1-3 AM to address things as I've tried to resolve issues. When you don't pick up, they just send you a poorly worded email saying they aren't helping you.

Our airline cancelled a flight and were given a refund. However, we can't claim the refund directly and ly.com is refusing to help.

100% regret using them

BEWARE OF THESE CYBER SCAMMERS FROM RIPPING YOUR MONEY WITH HIDDEN CHARGES.
It's a Chinese based company used Australian company's name to dodge local customers, so Australian customers would assume it's local and make purchases then they convert our AUD to GBR so bank charges international transaction charges.
Regardless of their cheap price we end up paid premium compare to official airline’s price.

Official Airline price is 916 AUD with no hidden fee
LY.COM price is 908 AUD with 32 AUD international transaction fee.
It's a MINUS stars doesn't even deserve a single star for these cheaters.

I purchased a Wizz Air ticket through…

I purchased a Wizz Air ticket through Ly.com. At no point during the booking process was I clearly informed that I must check in online in advance, or else I would be charged £42 at the airport.

This is not common knowledge for many travelers — especially the elderly or those unfamiliar with low-cost airline policies. Ly.com only vaguely stated that "airline policies may apply," but failed to highlight this significant extra cost clearly and transparently.

When I contacted their customer service afterward, they simply replied:

“This is the airline’s policy, and most airlines do the same. It’s not our responsibility.”
This response was both dismissive and irresponsible.

As a booking platform, Ly.com has a duty to clearly inform customers of important conditions that may incur unexpected charges, especially when such charges are as high as £42.

⚠️ Be warned: Ly.com does not inform you about mandatory online check-in, and if you miss it, you’ll be left paying high fees with no help from them afterward.

They just don't have a clue

I had booked a return domestic flight, and then later needed to change my outbound flight due to something coming up with work - fair enough, potentially can see me losing out here. However, this was where the problems started as I asked them:

Is it possible to get a credit note for the flight with the airline? (I'd done this previously when booking direct) - They said no, which is fair enough

If I don't get on my outbound flight, can I still get my return? - They said my whole ticket would be cancelled (bear in mind I've already paid them at this point and obviously can't get my money back whether I get the plane or not)

And finally, can I pay to add a checked bag to my booking. - They sent me back instructions on how to check in at the airport. Great stuff.

I then rang the airline, who said if I couldn't get the outbound flight I could still get the return, no problem. They then changed my outbound flight for my new schedule anyway, and added my check bag, resolving all my issues in one phone call.

So basically, don't bother using LY. They don't know what they're doing, they are unhelpful, and their English isn't good enough to properly answer questions. Your data is also possibly being passed around a bunch of chinese cybercrimal syndicates by giving it them, as no doubt they are selling it on.

Pathetic service! They booked my ticket with a wrong name and kept telling me it will not be an issue. Talking to their customer service was like like going through hell! These are a bunch of clowns running a business from their living room, never book with them!

WARNING DO NOT BUY FROM THIS APP. I booked a flight with them from Toronto to Lisbon for a round trip and added extra baggage on both departure and return flights (+$300). The system only put my extra baggage on the first departure flight and not the return one, making me pay another +$150 for the return flight. Absolutely horrible and ridiculous. They don't even know how to sort their back end properly and the UI itself doesn't even include the option to add baggage for separate trips. 0/10

Exploiting Parents Traveling with Infants – Dishonest Practices

I booked a Chengdu Airlines flight (EU2861, Chengdu to Chiang Mai on June 12) through Tongcheng Travel (同程旅行), and the experience has been appalling.

I am a foreign resident traveling with my baby, and the platform gave no warning before payment that infant tickets could not be added online or that there was a limited quota. After paying ¥720 for my adult ticket, I was told I couldn’t book an infant ticket directly.

I contacted customer service, and they first demanded ¥700 for a no-seat infant ticket (the baby sits on the parent’s lap). After I objected to the outrageous pricing—since infant tickets in China are typically 10% of the adult fare or less—they lowered it to ¥400, which is still a clear overcharge.

I refused the unfair price. Then they claimed “infant tickets are sold out”, and told me to go to the airport and “try my luck” on the day of departure. This is irresponsible and dangerous—I’m traveling with a baby and need guaranteed boarding, not a gamble.

This behavior reflects:
• No transparency before purchase, violating basic consumer rights
• Forced upselling under the guise of infant seat scarcity
• No refund, no accountability, no written explanation
• Airline and platform both refuse responsibility, blaming it on “chartered flight” arrangements

This is not just bad service—it’s a systematic abuse of families traveling with infants.

I’ve filed complaints with Chinese aviation authorities and consumer protection bodies.

I strongly urge international travelers—especially those booking through Agoda, Trip.com, or any OTA connected with Tongcheng Travel—to be extremely cautious. This platform cannot be trusted with essential travel needs.
