Damaged Collector’s Edition, Poor Packaging and Zero Accountability

Over the past few years, this company has turned into a conveyor belt of low-quality releases with a terrible attitude toward customers.

Their products are no longer anything unique — it’s just mass-market retail that sits unsold in other stores for years, often heavily discounted. On top of that, many of their releases are later reissued by other publishers at better prices.

The company is clearly cutting costs on collector’s editions: they sell products with minimal content for $80–100, have stopped including collectible cards, and don’t even add basic extras like stickers — something that is standard across the industry.

But that’s not even the main reason for this review.

I pre-ordered the collector’s edition of "Ender Magnolia" for PS5 and waited over six months for it (as usual, the original release window was missed). When it finally shipped, it was sent in a thin mailing bag with no protection whatsoever. As a result, all four corners were crushed, and the collector’s item lost its value entirely.

I contacted support and provided a full unboxing video (which clearly shows the condition of the package upon arrival) along with photos. After a week of back-and-forth, the company refused to take responsibility, insisting that they always ship in cardboard boxes, and offered only a 15% refund.

This is completely unacceptable.

After this experience, I will never order directly from this company again.

To customers — I strongly recommend avoiding purchases from this seller.
To developers — you should seriously reconsider working with this publisher.

Yakuza Classic Edition

Spent the last two months back and forth with their support to get replacement outer sleeves for 3 out of 7 games that I ordered from them.
The games were packaged improperly causing the corners of the game box to get smashed and creased during shipping.
They sent two replacements out so far and every time they arrive in an even worse condition, as their shipping department is beyond incompetent. Their support agents, while not at fault here, are more robotic sounding than ChatGPT.
If I could I'd give them 0 stars, never ever buying from them again.

I feel scammed at this point

Man they do not care about you after they have your money!

I ordered the SonicXShadow Generations collectors ed - and it arrived in a sorry state. Extremely poor paint job, damaged and the figure actually just doesnt fit on the base, I can't even stand it up!

I opened a ticket and was assured someone would get back to me - but its been 2 and a half months and now they're just ignoring my further emails 🫠

I ordered the Sonic x Shadow Generations Collector's edition.

I still haven't received my figurine/statue. Several delays. I e-mailed support because each email states I can cancel my preorder since the figurine has not been produced yet, but on the website it doesn't work.

I e-mailed them almost a month ago and only now got a reply, but it also only says they're escalating my issue and to please wait a little longer.

I've been waiting for ALMOST 2 YEARS now and I get no update aside of emails that my order is delayed.

DO NOT ORDER FROM HERE! I wasted so much money!

Después de 3 años esperando un juego y con el dinero ya pagado me dicen que se les ha olvidado enviarlo y ahora no tienen stock, que me reembolsan el pedido. Así que me quedo sin juego, con el dinero retenido 3 años y ahora en comparación con pérdida de valor.
Resultado, yo me quedo sin juego y ellos sin cliente.

I ordered the sonic Shadow generations collector edition back when it was announced. Not only was it delayed several times . The final product was not even CLOSE to what was promised.

Buyer beware and stay away other video game companies from using LRG for anything

Consistently poor experience over two orders.

I have ordered two items from Limited Run. The first was Streets Of Rage 4, i purchased the collectors edition, which was delayed, as seems to be the tradition with LRG. Overall though, i received my items, i cannot speak for the quality level specifically as i have since kept the item sealed, a side effect of waiting so long for a game, is that by the point it arrives, i have probably played it already.

The second order is Sonic X Shadow Generations and this has been a farce from the beginning.

Firstly, after ordering the game, i chose the option to have the game sent to me so i can play around launch date. This turned out to be a huge mistake, albeit, LRG took the choice out of customer hands anyway so it didn't matter in the end. Ill get on to that 'mistake' in a bit.

The CE was supposed to be delivered July 2025. Then the typical delay came, October. Then all hell broke loose when people started receiving their editions and the quality on display was terrible. Painting issues, missing parts, broken elements etc. They appeared to have been assembled by children, not crafted with care by a company that specialises in boutique collectables.

I didnt receive mine before getting an email about the quality issues. I was informed in this that the stock coming in was being checked and since then i have received no communications whatsoever. The update should have been recived by december 31st, it is now the 25th of January 2026 and no comms.

I messaged the customer service team and they were clueless. I was told the CS team have no oversight on deliveries. If this is true, what good are the customer service team to begin with? My item hasn't been sent and they have no idea when or even if i will receive an acknowledgement, let alone my item.

On to the 'mistake' because i have received my copy of the standard game. According to Limited Run, i have no right to cancel the remaining items. Thats right, $250 i cannot cancel the main (and only) reason for ordering this collectors edition, because LRG have decided to try and engage a loophole and they are stopping others from charging back because of it. This can only be seen as a deliberate attempt to quell DESERVED refunds, knowing that if they didn't do this shady step, then they will be suffering a major loss, which at this point, LRG would deserve.

This is not the only quality issue or poor business practise seen from LRG, far from it. I have limited experience with them and gave the benefit of the doubt, but i will never do this again and i urge anyone reading to do the same. It is not worth it, they are not worth the time or money and they need to face consequences for this.

$329 shipped to UK to receive only a standard copy of Sonic X Shadow.

Bad very bad company i have ordered sonic x shadow generation pc edition and still delayed/no shipment done after 2 years nearly. quality is horrible as seen online and they wont refund me cause "digital contents have been send" which i never asked for in the first place, AVOID this company no matter what they drop, they dont deserve the chance nor your money for the quality and bad customer support they do!

Lazy cash grab company.

Pre-ordered a game I was excited to get on christmas. Turns out the lazy port they threw together was STILL delayed. Id understand if the game hadn't already launched to poor reviews. It doesnt contain the bonus levels from various versions. Lacks uk voice actor etc. There's no reason it should have taken as long as it did. And at this point im pretty convinced it won't even ship on the updated date.

Id also heard they fired someone over their political opinions on private social media. Maybe if they actually cared for their craft rather than trying to craft an artificial opinion bubble, they could produce a quality product. But I guess thats too much to ask for.

Limited Run Games/Late Delivery Games

Having ordered Sonic X Shadow Generations over a year now, I have still yet to receive said package. Estimated deliveries have constantly moved first from July to November, now to December. Never order from this company for multiple reasons that I don't need to list off here.

If I could rate 0

If I could rate 0, I would. I asked for a reimbursement, and they said they did it and got approved. Problem is, it was to a cancelled card and terminated account, and they`re saying they can`t reimburse me because it got approved when my bank has no history of the reimbursement.

So all in all, 0. Screw them. I lost $360 CAD because of them.

Years of Support, but the Decline in Quality and Care Has Made Me Walk Away

I’ve been a long-time supporter of Limited Run Games and own hundreds of their releases. That history is what makes this review so disappointing to write.

Across many recent orders, I’ve received items with obvious manufacturing defects: cover art inserted incorrectly and crushed when the case closes, damage that should have been caught long before packing, and products that feel rushed. Packaging has also deteriorated, especially after the removal of the option to ship in a box. The overall pattern is consistent—damaged items and a lack of meaningful quality control.

I’ve reported these issues many times, with photos and detailed explanations. The replies I received were always polite, but they never led to real improvement. The tone suggested concern; the outcomes showed none. After so many repeated problems, it became clear that customer satisfaction isn’t a priority, no matter how reassuring the messages may sound.

The company that once felt passionate and customer-focused now feels like one that relies on the certainty of sales rather than the quality of what it delivers. That shift speaks louder than any customer service response.

I’ve cancelled all 13 of my remaining pre-orders and will not be returning, even if policies or processes change. After hitting the same wall for this long, the trust simply isn’t recoverable.

For customers who are also frustrated, the only real way companies change is when their bottom line is affected. Feedback alone has clearly not been enough. Sometimes the strongest message we can send is choosing not to spend—voting with our wallets to show that quality and care still matter.

It’s unfortunate to reach this point, but I can no longer support a company that doesn’t back its words with action.

No Loyalty

I've had many orders with them over the years and when I found out they only sent me 1 copy when I ordered 2 they said they cant help me because the company policy is clear. So essentially they just stole that money. I don't care what the timeline is you should always get what you pay for or your money back.

I’ve ordered multiple times and never had an issue. I hope that doesn’t change, since I still have a few on the way.
Yes, from the moment you buy to the moment you receive the product can take quite a while—sometimes over a year—depending on the estimated production date, which can be delayed (as happened recently with one of my orders).
If you’re buying from the Vault, though, you might get your items much faster, since those have already been produced.

Pre ordered a physical release shinobi game, received an email saying it has been delayed and to cancel if wanted. Went to cancel and told not able to cancel as digital codes have been sent...
1)digital code sent was for the wrong system - have been told it was a typo.
2)digital codes have not been used.
3)buying a physical game not a digital code, much cheaper to buy digital than a limited release physical.

So this company has a setup where they can refuse cancellations based on digital codes being sent despite buying a physical item, the entire point of buying from limited run. After talking to the agent and asking for management and complaints procedure etc, nothing, absolute waste of time, a scumbag tactic to get out of refunds. When you have dispatch dates months and months after actual releases of games it's very easy to send a code and then delay the physical as much as you want because it can't be cancelled. You can see why they have such a pathetic trust pilot score from various people.

They refuse to refund my money for cancelled orders

I had pre-ordered two games that I cancelled over time, the games haven't been released yet. The release was supposed to be sometime next year. So I cancelled the orders early. It was September 2, 2025. I received confirmation that my money would be refunded within 3-5 days, but that didn't happen. Communication is at a standstill. No one communicates with an open complaint. And they say they will respond in 24-48 hours. They are lying. I contacted PAYPAL, a few days later someone wrote to me that they tried to refund my money, but because of the complaint on PAYPAL, they couldn't do it. They forced me to close the game on PAYPAL because otherwise they can't send me money. Since then, no communication, I lost over $200. I was very disappointed in this company. I thought this company valued its customers, but they don't care about them. I would never buy anything from this company again, for me they are just scammers, nothing more. They refuse to refund my money. They don't communicate at all.

Ordered Shinobi and they didn't even post it

I cant believe the service from these guys, shocking to think companies are still allowed to operate in this way.
I ordered Shinobi way back in June for pre order and the didn't post or notify me as to why not.
Once launch day came for the game I received an email with the download content by they hadn't even posted the physical copy. I am based in the UK so ordered from another place and cancelled this order. Only to receive an email from limited Run to say we have cancelled the order and you will receive £0.00!? I reached out to them via email and they haven't resolved anything and to be honest don't think they really care.
Luckily I paid the $53-£40 via PayPal so have protection but if this was paid direct from a bank card, doubt they would acknowledge or refund, case open with PayPal and fingers crossed I will be reimbursed. To all retro gamers that are thinking of using this company please think twice, as scammers and disgusting service.

I bought Shinobi

I bought Shinobi, it wasn’t let me buy the collector edition so I bought the normal one. Its on my PayPal, on my CC it’s been charged. I email the CS to try to put my hands on the collector…they told me sorry sold out. I’m like ok cool. Its there : Cs told me I need to pay for the game…I sent it everything screenshot of my CC, of my PayPal and of the order I did which is paid…if I don’t pay I will not have my game…even if it’s paid. The customer service is awful will never support this people again….very very scammy! Look at their review before!
