Broken promises – don’t waste your money on this course
As someone who speaks five languages, I am no stranger to the process of acquiring a new one. However, I found this course quite disappointing for several reasons.
Firstly, the course claims you will be "speaking with confidence" within months, but it provides no tools to achieve this. The format is entirely passive; there is no interaction, and you cannot learn to speak confidently without actually speaking.
Secondly, all lessons consist of the teacher reading from a PDF.
There is a lot of focus on "what we don’t say" and "correct the mistake" exercises. As a non-native speaker at the A2 level, my brain cannot yet instinctively distinguish between correct and incorrect French. Being exposed to incorrect examples only creates more confusion! I want to learn correct French please, not memorize mistakes.
The listening comprehension were also very inconsistent. Some were incredibly easy while others were nearly impossible to decipher. Where exactly am I supposed to get my vocabulary from if it’s not being taught?
I decided to stop after the A2 level. While Preply is more expensive, the efficiency of speaking with a real person who can provide instant feedback is, in my experience, far superior to this static format.
