Nice healthy scoby delivered within a week of ordering. Clear instructions and I got to fermenting straight away. First batch was perfect after eight days. Started a second batch and it's bubbling away, looking nice and healthy.

Reasonable price, good ethics, arrived on time, clear instructions and great tasting Kefir

I ordered some kefir grains through their website. My payment was taken but I received no confirmation from Kombuchaorganic that they were processing my order. I was sent no tracking information either. Days passed, so I emailed them askong where my order was - this was returned, their email address on their website didn'twork. I phoned them - their phone number didn't work. The order turned up out of the blue 6 days after I placed the order.

I wanted to make better Kefir so did some research and came up with this place. Ordered the kefir seeds and they arrived within 3-4 days and I have now been enjoying home made Kefir for over 2 weeks
The seeds came with instructions too which were really helpful.
I was a little tentative not having ordered this type of thing online before but the experience was great!

I ordered some sourdough starter on 31/7/26 . It is now 12/8/26 and it has still not arrived . I have sent 3 emails so far with no response . The latest one I asked for a refund or resend of product . It was supposedly dispatched on the 4/8/26 via 48hr delivery from Royal Mail . It has been in transit now for 8 days ! I am not willing to accept the order now it has sat in transit since this long as surely it will be dead and not fit for purpose .

Seller aggressive and abusive. Product didn't arrive 9 days after shipping. Sent 4 professional communications requesting the usual discussion regarding non receipt of products, all ignored. Claiming money back through bank, if that fails, obviously small claims court is next step. Seller became aggressive and abusive, immediately responding only on seeing the chargeback claim, emailed calling me names. Made false claims about product viability in transit. Documented in the event this continues and becomes harrassment. Most bizarre experience. Hopefully will resolve via chargeback although other reviews indicate this is unlikely. Seller has amended her invoice on her website to refunded while refusing to refund via my banks chargeback. Court will only be costly for seller but will be time consuming for both parties. Seller called me "pritty" (Sic) immature for requesting a refund for non receipt of items and she believes a claimant should not advise the defendant of their intention to claim through the court despite this being a legal requirement prior to making the application. Felt like a parallel universe where the seller makes her own version of reality. Hope this can be resolved quickly, her logic is causing me to squint in disbelief. Her other trust pilot reviews show this is a very typical behaviour from her. Should have read the reviews first 🤦‍♀️update, seller was requested to cease direct contact due to her harrassment. She has since continued to send multiple abusive and aggressive emails throughout the day. All immediately forwarded to the police on receipt as they are in possession of my emails asking her to stop contacting me. I don't know if or when she will stop sending these emails. This goes far beyond an angry sellers behaviour and is now alarming behaviour, hence involving the police for safety. This won't dissuade me from pursuing my refund. Please avoid. This seller is behaving in a very disturbing manner. This review may give her another route to insult me through but I need to alert others of my experience and urge you to read all her reviews. I'm not unique.

Good kefir after 24 hours of arrival. I was a bit concerned as they were posted during the very hot summer weather and took four days to arrive after they were dispatched, but they were fine. Now made a few batches with it and all have been fine.

Excellent service. The SCOBY that was provided was top quality, producing excellent high-quality Kombucha. Can't recommend it highly enough. A star.

I purchased this SCOBY after seeing “Item volume: 1 gallon” on their Amazon listing, along with directions stating: “Use 1 SCOBY and 1 cup of starting fluid per gallon of sweet tea.” This clearly suggests the product is intended for a full 1‑gallon batch and that the starter liquid supplied will be adequate for that volume.

However, the SCOBY arrived with only 100 ml of starter kombucha.

Scientifically, a 1‑gallon batch requires 300–500 ml of mature starter tea to lower the initial pH below 4.5, which is essential to prevent mould growth. Even their own Amazon instructions (“1 cup per gallon”) indicate that 240 ml is the minimum. The 100 ml provided is significantly below any safe guideline.

Their printed instruction sheet describes a small‑batch method (around 1 litre of water with 4–5 tea bags per litre), which does not align with the “1 gallon” wording on their Amazon page. More importantly, their instruction sheet also advises sparing approximately 400 ml of kombucha with the SCOBY for the next batch. This strongly implies that a healthy SCOBY should be kept - and therefore supplied - with a substantial amount of starter liquid. Supplying only 100 ml contradicts their own instructions.

I contacted them through Amazon’s “Contact Seller” system and provided a detailed explanation of the acidity issue, the batch size mismatch, and the scientific requirements. Their entire response was: “we provide 100 ml, it is enough,” followed by a request for photos of the mouldy SCOBY. The SCOBY had developed white, fluffy mould, and I had to dispose of it immediately to avoid contaminating my kitchen. Keeping a mouldy ferment for photography is not safe practice, and the lack of photos does not change the underlying problem: the starter volume was insufficient.

Because I had prepared my equipment for a full gallon - which is normal when purchasing a large SCOBY and consistent with their Amazon listing -I had no choice but to add distilled white vinegar to compensate for the very small amount of starter liquid. This is a recognised safety step in fermentation when insufficient starter tea is supplied, and it does not cause mould.

Despite sterilising all equipment, using filtered water, maintaining correct temperature, and following both their instructions and standard fermentation practice, the batch developed mould within a week and had to be discarded. The SCOBY even began forming a new layer, showing the culture was alive, but the acidity was simply too low to protect it.

I genuinely wanted to support a small business, but the amount of starter kombucha they supplied is not sufficient for the batch size implied by their Amazon listing and their own instructions. This makes failure likely even when the customer follows the process correctly.

Everything seemed to go well with the kefir grains I had ordered and I followed the instructions. As explained it took several days to get any reaction but, although some pockets of air/gas appeared the mixture didn't thicken at all and tasted of very little except sweetened milk.
I have been culturing Kefir for several years and never had this experience! I have continued trying to culture it for several batches but no change!!
I'm thinking of throwing this away and trying to order from another supplier

Finally found a company who truly knows about milk kefir grains. Arrived in perfect condition in hermetically sealed bag and once set to work, produced delicious kefir in 24 hours. Easy instructions and happy to know where to get replacements and other superfood stuff.

I’m only leaving a review because I read the very bad reviews after ordering the kefir granules and I was concerned. They arrived promtly, well packed, with instructions. I left them in the fridge for a day and I’m now on my second batch using fresh organic milk, but homogenised as I could not find any non-homogenised. The granules are working well, the kefir tastes much better than the ones from the shops and I’m very pleased with the product. I will recommend this seller.

I purchased a 50g batch of live water kefir grains from this seller, but the grains arrived completely dead and dormant. I gave them a thorough, fair trial across six separate batches, but nothing happened. The liquid remained completely flat, intensely sweet, and smelled like plain sugar water, with zero fermentation or signs of life.

When I opened a return for a defective product, the merchant chose to exploit a loophole in the marketplace return rules. They deducted 50% from my refund, claiming the item was not "returned in its original condition."
This is a deeply dishonest and predatory business practice. It is completely impossible to test whether a live food culture is viable without opening it and attempting to brew with it. Penalising a customer for trying to use a product that arrived faulty is shocking customer service. They are weaponising this loophole on perishable goods to avoid giving full refunds for dead stock. I had to force customer services to step in to recover the rest of my money. I highly recommend avoiding this company entirely.

I don't usually write reviews but given the poor reviews for Kombuchaorganic on Trustpilot I have felt compelled to share my experience. I came across this company via an online search as my existing water kefir grains which had worked hard for me for 10-ish years were struggling and needed to be permanently retired. Kombuchaorganic's prices were great and organic status an unexpected bonus. I placed my order for 100g of water kefir grains and received a 'shipped' notification within 24hours. 6 days later I had not received the delivery and then came across the Trustpilot reviews. Reading many of them I immediately feared the worst - perhaps either no delivery or poor quality grains - but that evening got home from work and the delivery had arrived. 2 sealed packets (50g each) of beautiful grains. I fed them straightaway, then refreshed the sugar water 2 days later. 3 days after that I harvested my first batch of water kefir from my new grains. I always then do a secondary fermentation which I flavour with wild blackberries (which I pick every autumn and keep stocks in the freezer to last me until the following autumn). Theses grains are making delicious kefir water - a light fizz but smooth and fruity. I am glad I didn't see the trustpilot reviews before | placed my order - as perhaps I wouldn't have taken the chance. But I am glad I did buy from Kombuchaorganic and my experience of them and their grains has been nothing but positive.

The worst service I have ever had with any company. Selling dead cultures from their own kitchen. Know exactly what they are doing … this is the response O received . Estera Gebura - Hi, you ordered 10g of grains and this is how much we provided so no refund will be made and we will refuse charge back as tracking proves delivery, feel free to order from somebody else. Be very aware this lot are scammers and disgusting people. I will be ensuring I get them shut down.

Took 8 days to arrive. Grains were so small and, unsurprisingly after 8 days in transit, dead.

So fed up I can't even be bothered to contact and request a refund.

Same experience as everyone else. Wish I seen this first. Grains sat in transit for a week - won’t work. No reply to email.

I've seen a couple of reviews here stating this is run from a residential address and has been reported to trading standards etc. No idea where people get this info from but I purchased from ebay which gives the sellers name and so forth. It's been a registered business with Carlisle City Council since 2012 and has passed all the certificates etc that it needs to run as a business hygiene /safety etc. I think a lot of the time people buy something like this and don't know how to do it or follow the instructions properly. I bought milk kefir and left it out too long so learned from my mistake and make it fine now.
