My second review. This was an exceptional tour from beginning to end! Detailed descriptions, clear itinerary, specific accommodations, amazing & talented instructors were all carefully planned. There was a comfort built into the tour because of the professional planning. There was always someone to answer any concerns or questions without delay. Our tour guide & driver were so wonderful! They were knowledgeable, prepared, warm & personable & an important part of the success of our experience. It was just so much fun & I would absolutely recommend this trip & am most likely to take another.
This was the second tour I have done with Knitting Tours, and it was fabulous! The venue (Parknasilla Resort) lives up to the hype on their website. I didn’t try the swimming, spa or gym, but the walking trails are well maintained and the trails along the ocean offer great views.
The only hiccup was the cancellation of a sightseeing drive along the Ring of Kerry - but there was a good reason. A nasty piece of weather named Agnes! But the group managed to have the resort start a fire for us and we received hot chocolate or Irish coffee which we enjoyed along with some extra time with our instructor! An alternate tour was arranged, but knitters can be an ornery group! We requested a speedy return to Dublin instead so we could get to the delightful knitting store “This Is Knit” and they graciously obliged.
All in all, a spectacular experience!
Well managed trip. Workshops were excellent as well as accommodations. Would highly recommend Knitting Tours.
I recently returned from the Scotland/Shetland Knitting Tour and had an absolutely wonderful time. The trip was very well organized and the fabulous, knowledgeable, funny, Scottish guide Kirsty was able to flexibly time manage and manoeuvre us through all manner of textile and historic sites with ease. To be immersed in the world of Shetland knitting was so inspiring. Not only did I learn lots from these Shetland teachers, but my fellow tour mates were equally inspiring with their beautiful knits. This tour exceeded my expectations and for anyone who has a passion for knitting and all things textile I know they’d love this tour as much as I did.
My husband gave me the Best of Shetland Islands and Scotland knitting tour for a birthday gift. It was an amazing tour for both of us!
As a non knitter there were lots of interesting things for him to see and do. As an avid knitter, I loved the experience of taking classes from the best in Shetland. We had a wonderful lace class with Elizabeth Johnson and fair isle yoke class with Hazel Tindale. Not only were these women so kind, approachable and eager to share their expertise, they shared their lives through stories of their childhood and culture.
The tour guide, Kirsty was delightful. She had a lovely sense of humor and gave us lots of helpful information re history and practicalities of Scottish culture. Our tour bus driver, Colin was very helpful and courteous. He went the extra mile and helped my husband make the ferry when he had to leave 2 days early.
I had never been on a knitting tour before and I found the others in the group were very welcoming and inclusive. I would book another tour with knitting.com in a heartbeat!
What a great trip! The country is gorgeous. The tour accommodations were wonderful! The tour guide and coach drivers were amazing! The workshops were fun and informative!
This is the fourth Knitting Tours trip I have taken. This tour met the expectations set be the previous three. Tour guide June was knowledgeable and a pleasure to be around; the couch drivers Jim and Graeme were experts at navigating the narrow streets and tight parking lots, all with a great sense of humor. The tour itself was a good mix of history and sharing the knowledge of expert instructors. The food in the hotels and the various lunch stops was mostly excellent--if there's a criticism, it's that the portions were large, with wonderful desserts!
I think we would have liked more opportunities to visit yarn shops. We had a few really good ones, but I don't think there could ever be too many opportunities!
Overall it was a delightful, informative experience.
It was a great experience. I will probably book for next year similar tour.
Just get on a plane and join Knitting Tours! Upon landing you will be taken care of by their thoughtful and experienced staff in each of their tours.
I have been on three tours; Northern Ireland, Scotland, and Scotland & Shetland, all more amazing than the last.
Can't wait to see what's next! 😚😚😚
All around great trip. Guide and driver were wonderful. I learned a great deal and had fun in beautiful surroundings.
wonderful tour guide and bus driver couldn't have had a better experience
Well organized with great attention to detail. The accommodations and food were fabulous. The classes were lots of fun. Our tour guide and driver were wonderful.
Friendly and extremely knowledgeable tour guide. Our bus driver was very accommodating too!
The tour was very well organized, hotels and food were great, and knitting sessions wonderfull. I would have liked a visit to a yarn shop, not only with wool yarn. And I thought the visit to the museum in Dublin was not worth it.
Driver and guide were excellent!
Well organised tour to the Shetland Islands. The tour guide was very knowledgable about where we travelled and some of the history of Shetland. The bus driver was courteous and helpful at all times and willing to go out of his way, as time allowed, to give us the opportunity to see other things. The workshops were run by very talented women who shared their skill and knowledge in a way we could all benefit. The other tourist places were visited were in keeping with the theme of fibre and were interesting even for non knitters. I have come home with wonderful memories and new skills.
I came for the knitting workshops, and left in awe of the many creative designers Shetland has produced. The visits to the designers were inspiring.
Everything was planned to perfection. The accommodations and meals were very good. The people in Shetland were warm, friendly and helpful. The tour manager and bus driver were wonderful. The farewell dinner I will remember for the rest of my life.
When I missed a connection, Irish Tourism was very helpful in getting us connected with the tour. All in all it was a first class experience.
Amazing variety of classes and attractions, great guide and driver, meals included were great.
The trip was wonderful! The tour guide and driver handled everything from picking up our bags from our rooms to meals and hotel stays. I went by myself for my first ever international trip and they picked me up at the airport, took care of everything for the whole trip, and took me back to the airport when it was over. I highly recommend KnittingTours.com!
The team was very helpful and attentive to making it a wonderful experience
Everything about the tour was top notch. The tour guides were extremely knowledgeable and friendly. The hotels were great as was the food and atmosphere. Our bus driver “Peadar” was so competent, knowledgeable and fun…he greatly added to the experience!
