After building a collection of books Kindle has just stated fom May older Kindles will no longer be able to download new books, a new kindle will have to purchased and existing books cannot be uploaded to the new kindle. A payment of £15 is what Kindle is to pay out and with that I am expected to replace nearly 100 books. Well I will not be stupid to trust Kindle again and have no intention of spending cash to purchase a new Kindle. Potential customers should be aware what the buy today can be switched off after a few years.

Kindle stopped downloading audible spent hours wasting time with tech team that couldn't have been more stupid ...rebooted deregister all of it and resulting in having to buy another Kindle.
Useless and ridiculous support.
Spent 20 minutes just to raise a ticket ..this is not a healthy human experience. 1 star. Actually wish I could rate it minus 1 star..please amazon invest in better and more reliable technology.

I’ve been using Kindle for years, but the experience has become increasingly frustrating, especially for users outside the US or UK.

The biggest issue is how difficult it is to actually buy books. Many titles simply show as “not available in your country,” even though they exist and are being sold elsewhere. This makes no sense in 2026, when most digital services are global. It feels like the Kindle platform is still stuck in outdated regional licensing systems that punish international users.

Even when trying to work around this by changing the account region, the process is inconsistent and often blocked by payment restrictions. As a result, I often end up unable to purchase books I’m genuinely willing to pay for, which is extremely frustrating.

What makes this worse is that alternative platforms like Google Play Books or Apple Books sometimes have the same titles available without these restrictions. This makes Kindle feel unnecessarily limited despite being such a dominant platform.

Kindle devices themselves are great, but the ecosystem is too closed and restrictive. If Amazon wants to remain competitive globally, it really needs to address these regional availability issues and make purchasing simpler and more transparent.

At the moment, it feels like Kindle is one of the hardest places to actually buy books if you don’t live in the “right” country — and that shouldn’t be the case for a digital product.

Oggi mi trovo un altro addebito di euro 8,26 sempre di Kindle svcs , da premettere che non ho fatto nessun abbonamento , cerco mi mettermi in contatto con il servizio clienti ma è impossibile parlare con qualcuno per avere spiegazioni . Una volta non era così . A forza di insistere Finalmente riesco a contattare qualcuno, mi rispondono dall Egitto ... Ha detto che fra 2 giorni dovrei avere una risposta. Jahrelang hat das funktioniert, jetzt neuen Kindle angemeldet mit anderem Konto. Endete im Desaster. Vom angegebenen Konto wurde nicht abgebucht, Bücher wurden nicht geladen. Insgesamt zwei mal sehr freundlich mit Amazon telefoniert, Gerät 2x neu gestartet. Funktionierte kurz, Freude war groß. Dann hat Amazon das Konto gesperrt.
Um beim anderen Konto anzumelden musste das Gerät auf Werkseinstellungen zurückgesetzt werden, dann ging es. Insgesamt 4 Stunden Zeit verplembert.

I signed up for free trial, stupidly didn't diarise, so got charged for a month. I saw the charge by luck, just too late, and stopped future payments.
1. Amazon doesn't warn you in advance;
2. Once you realise, it is very difficult to find out how to cancel. Impossible on a mobile device. Laptop is the only way and even then, I had to google how.
Amazon is taking advantage of people's oversight. Really a regulatory body ought to ensure they send out reminders that payment is due imminently, with a link how to cancel.
3. They take away titles you have bought. How is this right?

We had 2 Kindles and decided to upgrade to new ones. We had moved, so we weren't using them for a few months. My wife asked me to look at her Kindle as there seemed to be a problem. Yes, there was. When you opened it and ran a program, it would work for 40 seconds, then poppped up a notice that a virus was detected. We rarely ever used it. Did this more than once with different programs, all of which were stopped by a different error when using a different program. All are trying to sell you a malware program. Thus, as it's a come-on to buy these programs that I'm sure aren't needed. Shame on Amazon.

I cannot access any of the books I purchased for my kindle. I contacted customer service and after agonizing delays with their chat system the person told me to deregister my device and re register it. I tried that and still nothing. Can anyone recommend an alternative service? I even checked class actions regarding Kindle issues. Very unhappy customer and looking for all alternatives to Amazon.

I own a 2024 Kindle and now all the books in my Kindle library have "been removed and no longer available, " per Kindle, plus I cannot download new Amazon ebook purchases. Spent 3 days trying everything including contacting Amazon, hard reboots, etc but nothing works.

Ti convincono a promuovere gratuitamente i tuoi libri kindle per una settimana, risultato: 209 acquisti in promozione a costo 0 nella settimana della promozione. Al termine della promozione "zero" vendite, praticamente ho regalato il mio libro.

No better than a paperweight. Got this for my Christmas and I’ve been at it for ages and can’t even download a book. Giving errors each time I try to add a payment card. This will sit in a drawer until it’s old enough to be thrown out

Mi hanno bloccato un account che avevo fatto e morale della favola tutti i libri da me acquistati su kindle sono stati cancellati senza dirmi nulla , in più mi hanno tolto l'account che avevo creato .
Prima vi prendete i soldi e poi cancellate tutto.

Fraudsters who terminated my account for no reason, withheld my royalties and have over 15 copies of my books still selling on their site. Refused to respond to my email. Am telling people to stop publishing on Amazon. SELF PUBLISHERS SHOULD TRY OTHER CREDIBLE SITES. AMAZON KINDLE SERVICE IS A FRAUDULENT SITE

Wenn man den original Kindle benutzt ist alles problemlos, aber auf einem Tablet läuft's einfach nicht. Lesen geht, herunterladen von Büchern fast unmöglich.

Hanno tolto di recente l'opzione di scaricare i file manualmente mi trovavo bene anche non avendo il wifi ,ora ho scaricato libri da due conti diversi e sono spariti parecchi ebook dal Kindle e mi dicono che non si possono avere il totale degli ebook o quelli in un conto o l'altro e che se voglio cambiarlo devo fare diverse operazioni per deregistrarmi dal Kindle e riattivare di nuovo per fare apparire i libri

I started a free trial of Kindle Unlimited, and my expectation, especially given the name, was that if a Kindle version exists then it is available on Kindle Unlimited.

After all, if I just wanted a selection of books then that is available free under Prime Reading, so Kindle Unlimited must offer more, surely?

The first books I tried, were unavailable unless I bought them, but to be fair they were non-fiction, so I thought, maybe it just applies to fiction.

But then I found that book after book that I wanted to read was unavailable, in all I reckon that 90% of the non-fiction books I tried are not available in Kindle Unlimited.

My conclusion is that Kindle Unlimited is like Prime Video which can claim to have thousands of films but it is pointless going in with the idea to watch a specific film you won’t find it, instead you have to browse through the films they have until you find one that you want to watch. Kindle Unlimited is the same but for books.

I’m sure that approach does work for many, but for not for me. I won’t be paying nearly £10 per month to read books that someone else has selected and which I don’t really want to read.
